January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

The poster you're quoting didn't say that or even anything to that effect..

better tell Tom that also then:

As for the rest, reserve team football is of a worst standard that league 1 so nothing anyone ever does there really means anything

Personally think my comment was more than valid - but you are welcome to your opinion :)

I don't think Evra will go to be honest; he's probably angling for a last big payday from the club. He's getting older now and probably realises that he won't get paid more or play at a higher level at another club so he's more than likely looking for a contract extension with a generous wage.

And good servant or not in previous campaigns, I hope Carrick is sold on by the end of this Summer.

Seeing as its RM thats being interested in getting him, he will certainly be paid more - at an equally high level - but potentially a better quality of life, so yes there is every chance he could move. If he was just after a hike in wages, given the amount of 1st team games he playes (at a guess 90% + he is available for), the club would have dealt with it ages ago Im sure. Like Carrick he only has 18 months left on his contract (I believe), so its being left REALLY late for such a high performer imo

Didn't say that.... but Obertan showed potential. Most the time, if someone does well for the reserves, they can be brought into the first team. Hell, I'd rather see Obertan and Bebe on the bench instead of the likes of Gibson and Carrick.

As above, I wasnt the only person to think you implied that

Obertan has also had quite a few EPL games to show what he can do, and it isnt very much. I dont rate Gibson at all (even though he seemed to do ok yesterday), but Carrick has been doing well recently with some assists and crucial interceptions

Im sure SAF has a much clearer indication in training whether any player can hack it in the EPL

The owners decided about 18 months ago that rather than how we used to start contract talks at two years until it's up, it now takes place when they have only a year.

Of course, it's sometimes different on a case by case basis - but it's been that way for quite a while.

We have quite a lot of players out of contract in 2012, from memory it was/is;

Anderson, Berbatov, Fletcher, Carrick, Park, O'Shea

Although I think Ando has signed a new contract.

German side St Pauli have asked the owners of one of their executive boxes to stop strippers performing during games after they installed a pole and mirror. "They can do what they like after games," said club president Stefan Orth. (Observer)

That's the box owned by Andy Gray and Richard Keys?

Boy wonder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will sign for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger wins £10m chase for teenager

In other words we've just signed another 17 year old lightweight winger. That means we're going to have him, Miyaichi and Willington Silva - 3 small young wingers - all out on loan. Looks like we're not getting a proper CB...

PS. It's not confirmed and i know it's from the daily fail!

Our move for Suarez appears to be moving at a snails pace but hopefully we'll know 1 way or another if he's joining in the next few days. Tony Barrett is reporting in tomorrows Times that Comolli will travel to Holland in the next 2 days to try and finalise the deal.

And that is just one of the many reasons why St. Pauli are awesome.

That leave us with less than a week to find a replacement if the deal falls through. It's cutting things very fine.

£10m is quite a gamble on an unproven player

The talk over the last several weeks was the usual for Wenger, 5mil upfront, 5 mil based on how he does.

How many ruddy tiny "wingers" do we need. Okay he's more for the future, maybe, I've not seen him play, no idea if he's ready, don't much care.

When we play an almost full strength team and get utterly utterly trounced by Barcelona hopefully people will stop pretending the current squad/formation is working just because a significantly worse EPL has us in about the same position we're always in this time of year.

4-4-2, not ignoring players, giving some proper rotation, putting people back in their best positions, dropping the rubbish by selling them and replacing with actual quality players.

The more we buy players for a system that fundamentally does not work for Arsenal and 80% of the current squad the worse we'll be.

Anderson has signed a new contract recently :)

Not surprised about Berba, as it could easily be argued he has been unconvincing at Utd until very recently.

Park should be re-signed, but again he has been a bit part player until this season really (and he has really stepped up imo)

Its just surprising that Evra has been left so late, imo of course, even given that you are correct about majority being left until a year is left on their existing deals (Evra has played a lot more matches than any of the others you mentioned, probably by quite a long way) :)

You should try the beer, its fantastic
Apparently no direct relation to the club, which is I guess why I hadn't heard of it. I shall look in the local offy for it forthwith.

So the only way we're going to beat Barcelona, one of the few teams in the world who are already shorter than us, is by buying more tall players, and conceding a man to them in midfield, an area which is quite blatantly their strongest?

No wonder you're such a tactical genius.

Berbatov has played 43 both seasons being with us.

Evra 51 & 48

Carrick 44 & 43

Fletch 41 & 42

O'Shea 54 & 18 (injured I think for a bit)

Park 26 & 40

Stats taken from the past 2 seasons.

Evra is in a position that we don't have a favourable cover player for as we do with RB - RB we slot O'Shea, Neville, Rafael and when SAF has no choice Brown there.

With LB only really Fabio comes in for Evra out of choice.

I think it's important Evra is renewed - however I also think it's important that our LB becomes less reliant on him, and Fabio should be brought in more just as Rafael has - I think Evra is 30 this year, same with Vid.

Any truth to the rumor that Real Madrid want to swap Sergio Ramos for Patrice Evra?

Evra is by far the better player imo. He is always up and down that left wing. Does screw up from time to time but is overall a very solid player. Ramos does score more goals however.

http://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/everton-fc/1212233-everton-fc-moyes-wont-spend-pienaar-cash.html

David Moyes has revealed that cash raised by the sale of star midfielder Steven Pienaar will not be reinvested in fresh blood this January.

Despite the £3m raised by the sale of the South African coming as a welcome boost to the Blues beleaguered war-chest, Moyes maintained any movement in the transfer market would still be limited to loans.

:( :(

and...

He said: "What we've missed is the six or seven goals that he scored for us last season.

That's because you've only been playing him for the last 5-8 mins of the game before yesterday you ***!!
