January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Holloway can't take the moral high ground when Blackpool have ****ed Adam about in the past. He should count himself lucky that Adam didn't kick up a fuss in the summer, and he certainly shouldn't be banging on about how much he's worth while only paying him peanuts.

I'm not surprised with what Holloway's come out with, that's the character he is, but he's (in his own words) wrong!

Adam took Blackpool to court - Im not sure how that doesnt constitute "kicking up a fuss" :)

He'll be playing a better standard of football.

You said that with a straight face, Im confused (:

The supporters certainly expect a better standard, not sure they have had it for a while though

We're talking about him demanding a transfer. Despite being treated terribly by the Blackpool board and having to take them to court to get the money he was owed by them, he didn't demand a transfer and has been totally committed to helping Blackpool this season.

One thing is for certain , Holloway says that a realistic price for Adam is 14 million, I would be bloody livid if we paid 14 million for Adam. For that price there are many better options abroad.

I think we should pull the plug on the Adam deal at look elsewhere. I don't care what Holloway says, he's not worth £14m and he will be extremely ****** off that the club has scuppered his chances of moving on. Has anyone put in a better offer than £4m... No.

As for Suarez. If he’s the sort of player we need then he’s got to be worth £20m+. If not I can't see why we’re bothering. We've had enough ~£10m maybe strikers at the club over the last few years.

Yep, Pool need to put up the right amount of cash for Suarez and forget about Adam. There's no way we should even consider spending £14m for him!

Yes we do need a quality midfielder, but it's a holding midfielder, and one of the quality of Mascherano that we need. And we need to bring Aquilaini back, that was a crazy decision letting him go on loan, we're not exactly coming down with creative midfielders!!

Unfortunately we also need a quality centre back or 2. Carragher isn't getting any younger, and Skrtel just isn't cutting it at all. He makes a ridiculous amount of silly decisions/errors every game. And don't even get me started on Kyriakos - horrendous :(

And the week before Holloway said he was worth £46m. He's just a nut job.

He didn't say he's worth 46million, he said if they go down it will cost them 46million, if they stay up thanks to Adams, he'll be worth 46million.

Likewise, though he said put a 1 infront of the 4million offer, he isn't directly saying he's worth 14million, he's just saying he's worth a lot more than 4million and closer to, or at least double digits.

I'd think 8-10mil would get him at least and, is he really a less good option than someone European? Just because he's not a household name, yet. Maybe he is that good, he's certainly been more effective than Babel, and you're getting 7 mil for Babel, so surely he's worth more.

Of course, if you find someone with 6 months left on their contract, you'd get a better price.

That's 1 and 3/4 VdV's!! ;)

Likewise VDV wasn't wanted and Real were looking to recoup money quickly after a heavy summer spending and VDV was desparate to come out after they bought, what 3 midfielders(Ozil, Khedira, Di Maria) and a couple kids aswell. If Spurs had wanted VDV and he was a first team regular he would have cost a vastly different price, and wouldn't have agreed to a move anyway.

there were threats of that nature (or so the press reported) if the bonus wasnt paid

Even so - whether its for a transfer or not, its still kicking up a fuss (imo of course) :)

I know I know, just everyone references the 8m for VdV so much that I feel all deals should be done in VdVs.

He said.. "Put a one in front of it and it might be realistic." , that to me suggests that he is saying that 14million is a realistic price. Given that a realistic price would by definition have to be a price that he thinks a person is worth, I would say that he is indeed saying he is worth 14million.

Its all open to assumption of what he meant though and neither I, nor you, ultimately know what he meant. Only he does.

For gods sake, its not an uncommon saying, and he actually does say "might be realistic", another way of saying that would be, in the ball park, or around about that price.

If he valued him specifically at 14million he would have said, "I'll sell him for 14 million, not a penny less".

Generally speaking, and this will absolutely shock you, managers/owners priority isn't to give out the exact figure they'd be willing to let a player go for, because, shock horror thats what people will bid IF they think its a suitable price. By suggesting a higher fee, you might, I dunno, get a higher price than you'd actually let him go for and make more money.

I do like that idea, but as Jakeke says, Cesc's is more appropriate as he's just about the best value deal in the history of football, or at least, a long time.

How much did we actually end up paying for Cesc, didn't we have to pay some compensation type fee, can't remember how much it was.

Here is something that will absolutely shock you, YOU or I, or anyone on this forum does not know what he meant. At least, not unless you actually are Ian Holloway, which I doubt.

We can assume, key word ASSUME, what he meant, but we cannot, no matter how much we pretend we do, KNOW what he meant.

The Demba Ba deal to West Ham will be completed tomorrow according to SSN.

He has failed a medical at West Ham now according to ESPN. West Ham are still prepared to risk a loan but they are having problems over insurance.
