*NOTE* Before we start, please don't turn this into an advice thread. This is a simple "how sick do you usually feel before you give in thread". If you're currently ill and in doubt if you should go, please go visit your GP. We're not going to give you medical advice here! :p

Are you someone who goes in the moment you feel unwell?

Or if you've been ill for say a week?

Or are you one of those hardy soul who'll never admit they're ill, they don't need the doctors! And then eventually have to go when they're at deaths door? :p

I am lucky in that I'm rarely sick, the last time I went was about 2 years ago maybe more, and I'd managed to get a nasty bout of the flu + chest infection that just wouldn't go :(

I'm just curious, I know a lot of people who're stubborn and won't admit they're ill. Which to me is... well, silly. Is that the normal thing, or what? :p

Depends on the type of sickness, if its usual feeling crap for a week then I'll just stick it out.

But if its odd pains or a rash or something out of the blue then I will go down straight away.

So in conclusion, I don't go down there unless I deem it to be "serious".

I don't. I wait long enough so that it becomes a serious enough a problem to consider A&E, or, 99.99% of the time it disappears.

Obviously if it's anything rashy or when bits start to fall off I'll rush to the doctors.

This. :)

Besides, the time you have to wait for an appointment, I guess I'll either be better or dead.

If something's bad enough or uncomfortable enough that I feel like it won't go away without some sort of drugs, then I go. If I just feel crap but feel like it'll pass, there's no point.

Last time I went was nearly 4 years ago to get an inoculation, not counting that it would have been nearer 8 years ago for a chest infection.

So er, only if I really have to :p

Only been to the doctors a few times since I was at primary school. Once at Uni to register at the practice there and a few times in Australia for diving medical, second year visa medical, and when I had tonsilitis.

Don't get ill very often though, usually just the general bugs. Tend to always come down with a heavy cold whenever I take time of work though which is ****in annoying. Have been to the hospital though when I've broken bones

The last time I went, I was on death's door. Then I had two organs removed :D

Now I get queue jump when I show up

Pretty much when I can't take the pain anymore, or something seems definitely wrong. Went a couple of years with recurrent gout attacks that left me barely able to walk for days, and in immeasurable agony.

Still, I didn't bother going until the wife forced me to after checking up on gout symptoms and some other people agreed.

As I expected, the GP gave me a leaflet for dealing with sprains.

I insisted on a blood test and yeah, it was gout.

I tend to avoid going to seek any kind of medical help until it's the last possible resort as I find it incredibly dismissive here in the UK. Seems if you aren't standing in the middle of your GP's office with a Giro going "AAAAAAAAARRRRGHHHH!!!", they don't believe you're in any kind of real pain.

Mind you, I've got BUPA coverage with my new employer so probably ought to try that out at some point. The ol' ringpiece ain't feeling too well these days.

Last time I went, was to get a jab for a holiday.

I hardly ever get ill besides the usual seasonal cold or sniffles.

I’ll wait until it gets too uncomfortable to bear and things like paracetamol don’t knock the temperature down.

Flu etc i wait out but if my throat comes up i go to the walk in as i get tonsillitis badly! never wait for me to start on the hallucinations!

anything else, have a cup of tea, get into bed and man up

GP's are mostly useless, either I am not sick enough to go to a doctor or I go to the hospital straight away.

Only time in the last 10 years my GP was useful was when I had a salmon bone stuck in my throat.

Probably about a week, but I haven't been ill that long since I was probably 13/14. I was ill recently and the day I actually thought about going to the doctors I magically recovered lol!

Pretty much stupidly suck, I had an intestinal abscess not so long ago that I was in a lot of pain, and it was close to bursting, if it was not for my best mate at the time calling the doctor out it would have burst and killed me.... lesson learnt!

3 days ill, then I'll go. The reason being, if it's anything more serious, I can only self certify for 5 days at work, so I'd rather have a note from the doctor ready if it comes to that.

It never does though. It usually clears up by itself.
