January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

What a bizarre move from Torres, I always figured he was loyal and didn't seem that bothered the Liverpool weren't going to win anything, now they have new owners, the messiah in charge, big money signing....and he hands in a transfer request  Maybe he hates Suarez? :p

Laugh, my, ***, off. I'm sure if you were to look through the Rooney and Tevez threads it's exactly the same (Not the Tevez thread on here really as there's only two City fans, but on fan forums).

1) Rumour comes out
2) Denial
3) Hope
4) Club confirms transfer request
5) Rot in the reserves
6) Confirms he's staying at club
7) I'll cheer him if he scores goals but I still won't be happy about it

It's like freakin clockwork :D

Edit: Added a couple more!

It took me untill 08 to forgive Gerrard for his Chelsea Fiasco, i wont be cheering Torres anytime soon considering his club status is half or Gerrards at that time.

I wouldnt rot him in the reserves, although the spiteful side of me would want to, the trouble is that you'd end up paying millions in wages til the end of his contract. Financially better to sell him on and get some dosh in.

I've always said that I understand if he wants to go and would accept it, but not with timing like this. Summer yes, no problem, fine, you deserve success, off you go...slap on the back and thanks for the great goals. But 2 days from the end of the transfer window, after a 23million signing...thats just wrong imo.

"What do you mean you've signed Suarez?! HE BITES YOU KNOW!!!"

Lost a lot of respect for him now. He could've easily waited until the summer and few Liverpool supporters would've held it against him but a few days before the transfer window closes isn't easily forgivable.

Agree. Even if he did want to leave this window, had he made it clear from the start he wants out it could be forgiven after what's gone on but to do it this late is disappointing.

I wouldn't either. It's a stupid suggestion usually put forth by rivals of that team who would be advantaged by having their oppositions star player 'rot'. I can't imagine for a second any team that would do so, just ship him out as you say. Not like he'll be going for chump change.

I heard he has picked the name on his shirt as Nom Nom Nom

I would literally love him forever.

Agree with what's been said. 3 days before the end of the window is a bit disrespectful. Does he really expect to be allowed to leave in that time and for Liverpool to find an adequate replacement?

Kenny will only keep players on, who want to play for the club. I'm disappointed in Torres, I didn't think he'd do something like this and now :(

He is one of the 2/3 big pulls to getting other players in, but now this has happened, that value is gone.

That said he could just be doing a Rooney...

He plays left midfield/wing, but he drifts into the middle so often he's seldom on the left wing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you certainly wouldn't sign him to give you width.

Depends on the team, players aren't always asked to stay out wide, with Wigan they basically have Rodellega and N'zogbia, that is there threat, nothing else in general. Rodellega isn't exactly Zigic and asking N'zogbia, whose really their main link from midfield to attack to stay wide and hit balls to their lone small striker is just daft. He can cross, can get down the wings, he's very versatile, he played several games at Newcastle in the playmaker/fabregas role IIRC due to other injuries, and has played left back, and can really run down either wing.

Semantics.

He has scored nine for Mexico and as DM keeps pointing out, has one of the best goals/minutes ratios! Only takes him 45mins to score a goal. That being said he has only played 45mins of first team football this year...

IT was 65mins ;) However, he IS a proven goal scorer, proven everywhere except at Arsenal where he gets no game time, his first appearance for the club he put a hatrick past Sheffield Utd(were they newly relegated from the EPL that season, probably) and finished in the play offs, they weren't "good" but weren't bad. One of his goals is rated in the top 50 all time Arsenal goals. He's scored similarly brilliant goals since, has a couple in the champs league this year, the only thing keeping his scoring record down is Wengers switch to a single striker system and not playing a tiny striker upfront.

With games Vela will come alive in the second half of this season, he can pass, run the ball, excellent finisher, great runs, the only thing he's lacked is games.

The only issue with him going to West brom over bolton is he could have a quite massive effect on relegation, and not sure thats entirely fair, not really unfair either I guess, just sucks, West Ham should have without question gotten him. I had the same thought about Woodgate to Wolves, essentially as a tool just to get him games and get him match fit and back to form they might entirely change the relegation race, feels wrong somehow.

I wouldnt even mind Chelsea in the summer, done properly.
But his statements only like 10-15 days ago, combined with the timing, and then adding Chelsea on top and its hard to forgive.

The thing is who would buy him?

Surely Liverpool aren't going to let him go to Chelsea or any other UK club and the foreign options are....limited.

I'd let him go to Chelsea or Man City, but I'd want bigger bucks than if he went abroad. I'd be looking for a minimum £50 million. One rumour I've seen this evening is that Chelsea are going to offer £45 million + Sturridge tomorrow. Dont think I'd take that, I'd want pure cash from Chelsea. If City want in on the action then they can offer me cash + tevez :)

Where would he get the most first team football? Arguably West Brom play slightly better football than Bolton, although Bolton have come leaps and bounds in that respect.
