Star Trek: Enterprise

Personally, I think it's great!

The pilot is fantastic, the federation and their first warp 5 engine, meeting the klingons, really cool stuff if you're an ST fan :D

It's good that they tried to introduce a story ark too with the 'weapon', I personally think some of the characters are good too apart from Malcolmn who's a bit of a dick, I ended up growing quite fond of Travis despite thinking he'd be annoying.

It doesn't get the credit it deserves, it starts off far better than any other series and the actors are great from the start, shame the ending was pants. I think DS9 is the best series though. :)

I thought Enterprise was pretty awful. Bland storylines and some excruciatingly shallow characters.

If you want decent Star Trek, the best place to look is DS9, particularly seasons 4-7.

I'm not to sure tbh, from 1987 - 2005 we had continuous Trek episodes from 4 different shows.

If a new show were to be produced, it needs to be up to date with current tastes. I think the syndicated formality and routine of much of TNG/Voyager/DS9 has had it's time imo, especially for such a big franchise.

The recent film 'kind of' re-invented it for the masses, but it lost much of the social/political/ethical/moral stuff that makes star trek what it is. A new series really needs to find the balance between the old and the new tbh.

Sure it would be easy to pitch a trek show that had x crew on z spaceship/station/magical space elephant in z time period that could be syndicated for weekly viewing. But tbh, it wouldn't be great imo, even Enterprise tried to go the arc driven route in its third and fourth seasons.

a new series like that would be awesome tbh. :)

Enterprise is the only Star Trek series i like tbh so got them on DVD. didnt like DS9 or TNG series, although i like TNG movies. :)

yeah.

One thing i really liked was the episode where they needed the engine component so they had to take it (and leave the other ship stuck o na 14 month voyage home etc) or in voyager when the other stranded ship found those aliens they could pout into the engine to get home in a life time (but of course there being even remotely evil meant they all had to die).

I'd just like to see a series that starts of with the normal sci fi pure good and decent hereos but over the course of the series they're forced to put practicality/themselves over their morality (instead of just good = you'll live and win, selfish or slightly evil = you'll die horribly to be the moral of the story).

Stargate universe promised to do that but pretty much instantly fell back into good lives.

We really do need a new Trek :(
we need any sort of decent space based sci fi which isn't about to be cancelled within 2/3 seasons....

As to star trek.
TNG - liked that, looks a bit dated now bit still more than watchable thanks to JLP
TOS - only thing good in that is how bad Kirk's acting is lol
DS9 - it was ok and I didn't mind the religious stuff and I thought Armen Shimerman played Quark (ferengi) really well. The problem was it was released to compete with Babylon 5 and as such it had no chance.
Voyager - it was ok too
Enterprise - 50/50, if they'd have made the ship look less advanced than the original series ship it probably would have helped lol. It would have also worked quite well if they hadn't added the star trek connection.

And for the record I'm more of a B5 fan than ST.

Enterprise...! Of all the Star Treks this was my favourite. I'd be surprised if you don't enjoy it and cannot understand why it received so much criticism.

i love how star trek splits opinions so much :D

for example, i prefer voyager over ds9 as although voyager was mostly average, it was at least consistent where as ds9 was a pile of crap right up until the last few seasons.

It's always going to be TNG though. i mean, that just IS star trek.

Agree fully. Don't understand how people liked DS9 so much!
