*** 25/02/2011 EXTENSION! *** DEAL OF CENTURY: Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB Graphics Card with 2 FREE

Any chance you could tell me what voltage gpuz is reporting with a 3d app running at those settings?

If I set 1138mv in afterburner gpuz reckons my gpu only takes 1080mv under load.

Sure, no problem. GPU-z suggests between 1.078v and 1.080v, whereas Afterburner is set to 1.138v.

From what I have read overclocking Video card Memory does not really add much maybe 1-2fps so it would hardly seem worth it tbh.
I might try adding the voltage tomorrow and seeing if I can hit your speeds Rico but games are running so well as it is, it kind of makes me wonder what real advantages I will get from Oc even further apart from that little frame ticker reading higher (which is kind of fun too see I admite)
Yes I think that SSD Hdd will probably give me the biggest boost too my system rather than getting a custom cooler and then hoping that OC would make a visible difference to my computer. Also I know that a SSD will always transfer too the next computer I build where as sockets could always have changed

Indeed, every game I've tried so far runs great at stock speeds. The extra Mhz if fun for a bit of benching, not much else. But then I've not tried Metro 2033 yet, which is the only game that really tested my old GTX280. I play at 1900*1200, Metro really chugged horribly in places.
I will see how that goes, might need 875mhz afterall ;)

My first impressions upon buying this card.........
Awesome! Big thanks to overclockers.
As for power draw, who cares. As for heat and noise? I use this in a coolermaster 690 with the usual 120mm fans, and one in the side panel. I can run the 480 at 800mhz core at 55% fan and it rarely breaks 70 degrees in Arma 2.
Bravo Overclockers, and balls to all you scaremongers! What a deal!

Yeah, temps are well under control, these chips have clearly had the initial leakage issues pretty much sorted so increasing voltage doesn't seem to massively increase power draw as in the early samples.

Nvidia were obviously struggling with that from the start, but now they all seem to be shipping with default 1063mv and decent temps that are a mile away from the astronomical temps of the early cards.

If temps are too hot for some you can always undervolt using afterburner. Mine will run stock speeds at 0.9v, shaving 6-7 degrees off of temps and reducing fan noise.

...but I don't really give a monkeys about noise so I overclock and overvolt mine 24/7.

Yeah, I was a relieved bunny after testing mine too. 840MHz core at 1050mv, and no issues with noise or heat. Better than my old 4870 in both regards in fact, it seems (although I guess that old card was having to work a lot harder in modern games than my 480 is).

You've got a good one, mine needs 1100MV to do 800mhz or 1138mv to do 850mhz and even then its not fully artifact free. I'll maybe see one small one flash up every ten hours or so. No crashes what so ever though. If I run games at 60hz I don't see any, but it I turn it up to 120hz I will see the odd rare minor one as the gpu tends to be running harder.

ok I've decided to order one - anyone reckon it;ll be back on offer at weekend at <200 ? 199 would do ....

and if not when does current 207 price finish is it end of today or end of sunday ?

cheers

^^ Oh, pretty much identical temps/fan speed to mine, then.

Guess the extra voltage isn't making as much difference as I thought it would. Might try to push mine a bit further then.

It depends, if your chip is a bit leaky it may draw more power as voltage is increased, which would increase temps but I can't see that being too much of a problem anymore.

Could 480 owners please tell me their stock voltages as I have 3 cards all with different voltages.

1013
1050
1063

Info can be found in MSI afterburner.

Cheers :)
