Mine took 3 days. I have heard that they can take quite a while, which is why I was surprised mine germinated so quickly.

Have you put them straight into soil, or damp tissue? They seem to germinate faster in damp tissue for some reason.
 
Straight into the soil, I've got a propagator lid on top of the seed tray in a warm office, but I read the temp needs to be 25-30c so I've put it over by the office heater, might pop out at lunch time to pick up a thermometer
 
My seeds have taken much longer this year to germinate. But yesterday I woke up to 2 Cayennes and a Jalapeno poking through :D Another Jalapeno has come through today.
 
My last cayenne popped through over the weekend.
16/16 chilli seeds germinated.
Now I just need to fatten up those stems!
 
Set my 'grow box' up yesterday, Got 8 sets of NickK's Nagas in there with some cooking herbs. Should hopefully produce something worthwhile! Using a 'value' germination box from homebase and a reptile heat mat to keep the temps nice and high to encourage germination.

Fingers crossed :D .. always worry that something I've sent out doesn't germinate.

Which reminds me - I have three more to send out lol
 
No complaints with the Naga seeds here either Nick! They were one of the first to germinate, and they're growing nicely in my grow box :D

Wish my habaneros would get a wiggle on and germinate though.
 
i had aload of chillis i just left drying and the other day i finally got around to making them info chilli flakes.

i saved all the seeds in a bag , nothing ive done would stop these seeds from growing right? they were all mature peppers half of them i just left on the plants and they dried on there own lol

Assuming they all germinate....

I have space to put them, but to be honest I planted lots with a view to not having a few germinate.

The sowing advice was for 25 degrees, my lounge won't get that warm often, especially on the window sill - so I'm keeping fingers crossed!!!
 
For some reason I assumed that this diamond reflective mylar would be a lot stiffer than it is and now I have no idea how I'm going to attach it :confused:.

Seems from a quick google than the creases can cause heat spots, but would this really be a problem with CFL bulbs? Seems a bit silly to fold the mylar up so that its covered in creases if this is indeed the case :mad:.

To be honest, I dont see that much of a difference in the reflected light on my walls when removing the mylar and just using the white buckets. I might just forget the mylar and use the bare white buckets instead. Maybe wrap the mylar around some hardboard and use it for the walls.

Hmm, I could try it, but my experience with double sided tape is that it doesn't tend to stick very well. Especially where heat is involved.
 
One of my jalapeno seedlings has toppled over and snapped :(
Can't get enough light because of this weather lately and the way my windows are.
Hopefully my Vero board arrives today so i can make a start on making these LED grow lights!

you have the proper leds? they cost like £6+ each the cheapo crappy ones arent anywhere near powerful enough
 
Came home from working away to a box full of bulbs, but no fittings. Fittings have been discontinued and no longer made :(. Luckily just found some more on ebay and hopefully get them soon.
