Marvel Vs Capcom 3

right also last night i unlocked akuma and what i thought was taskmaster - but i cant see taskmaster on the roster? where is he? whos he next to?

akumas on the top left.

You don't need to post photos to talk about the game now!

Just wanted to be clear, I got my copy and I know several other people who did, forgot to mention this yesterday, sorry :p (I know most of you know this already, just wanted to clarify).

Taskmaster is top right I think (from memory).

Reading some more, a lot of players are saying that the game is very very broken. There's already infinites popping up and people are complaining at the damage.

Looking at a few of the tourneys happening, a huge amount of the successful teams have sent/the usual characters. I'm really really hoping I'm wrong here and the game gets more balanced / fixed.

Some of the matches are over so quickly, and I like fights to take a while personally.

Is the game very broken or are these just design decisions taken by Capcom? I'm guessing a lot of people are moving over from SFIV and when they see the heavy damage and a different damage scaling system they just think it is broken.

i wouldnt say it was broken just needs some tuning (well ok a lot of tuning)
some characters give monster damage under all conditions whereas others are simply useless.
The only thing in the game that is genuinly broken is the acheievements and them popping up in the next round.

Well, I've been told that capcom openly admited they didn't do any real balance testing. A friend really into the fighting game scene told me this, and they'd "patch it" later... I'm guessing that means we'll have to pay for an update then! :p

Remember, the people talking are the 'experts' and played tons of MVC2, it doesn't bother me either way.... my days of taking fighting games seriously are behind me, and I'm strictly casual now. No tournaments or anything for me anymore :p

Well too early to say really, no real infinites yet and Magneto has been toned down from 2, him and Sentinel are still pretty beasty though, especially Sentinel...

Coming as a predominantly SFIV player I love it. It's so fast and the damage just makes me like it more. Mess up and prepare to eat a combo that will probably end up in your character getting killed from 100%

There're infinites.

A few have popped up on event hubs, and apparently there's some which are listed in the oiffical guide (I can't check that, as I don't own it).

Many require xfactor though.

that's not an infinite though it's a loop, if it was infinite it would go on over and over! Not a big deal if you ask me though, I mean Sentinel and Magneto can do over 1mil of damage with x-factor pretty easily, admittedly it might require them to also use a hyper.

Balrog in SFIV can do an infinite by those terms, until his EX bars run out. Or you can go in training mode and put EX onto infinite and just do his EX rush combo over and over and over.

I was aware of the X-23 loop though, which is why I said no 'real' infinites. :p

Technical terms aside, the point being I don't think any character should be able to kill you with one combo. I know I sound like I'm moaning (and I guess I am) but it promotes the use of few characters, and the most boring play styles.

I think I'm feeling it more as I was really looking forward to MVC3, I guess that's why I'm so disappointed.

Looking at it though it seems pretty much every character can do a kill combo! That's just how these vs games seem to be, I think TvC was similar but cannot confirm!

I was able to find a combo on my own as Magneto which does like 1.1mil damage and it wasn't even that hard. To put it into perspective the average health in this is 1mil, but some have less. Phoenix has only 400,000 haha! Can kill her in a 11 hit combo as 'Ma

Still not figured out how to combo into Magneto's magnetism ball thing hyper which is annoying

Have these muppets never played a Marvel game before? It's meant to have insane damage, unblockables and ckc's! The skill in marvel is not getting hit.

The last thing we need is another sahara fighter 4.

The damage does seem to be up from MvC2 but some of the top players from that (Yipes) consider it a good thing because apparently a lot of the matches in that went to time outs, at least I think that is what he said on one of the new frameadv videos

Damage is the same, but it requires far less skill and time to perform that damage in a combo (e.g. no need for infinite loop to kill a character in 20 seconds, it can be done in 10 with some meter).

Even the mashers from SSFIV can do easy 1 mill combo's with any non-zoning character... but can they avoid getting hit by them? That's what separates the skill in this game.

Apparently, Sanford, Marn and Wong have both mentioned they didn't like aspects of the game, including the damage Xfactor does. They said it's fun thoughl.

Having said that, Wong is using a fairly strange team at the moment (with Wolverine as point I believe) so maybe there's hope it'll be so broken that it's balanced :p
