Stand-out moment

***SPOILER FOR THE DARKNESS*** If you haven't played this game do so now. I'll wait......... Awesome isn't it?

When Jenny dies.

It's established that in the whole of Jackie's life Jenny is the one ray of goodness and hope in his world (and this is a recurring theme). Earlier in the game she throws you a birthday party and she falls asleep in your arms as you watch a movie together (how many games let you watch a full real-life movie?).

When she's murdered by your uncle The Darkness inside Jackie forces him (you) to watch, but stops you from doing anything. When Paulie shot her in the head I actually felt a portion of what the character was feeling, and it just blew me away. And then when Jackie pulls out a gun, walks to a mirror and shoots himself in the head I understood why; and that was the first time he died (or was it the second? I forget).

Now that is not to say the game didn't have its issues, but, for me at least, the storytelling is what drew me in and made it one of my all time favourite games.

The first time I met the T-rex in Tomb Raider was amazing at the time.

Yeah that was epic, the whole game was, running around in 3rd moving cubes and jumping, I played the first level with the wolves (was the demo level) so many times on the saturn

Awesome game, I got it for like £5 back in 2008 ish the people call the 360s graphics put it still looks good and plays amazing.

From this gen.

Oblivion back in 2006. Coming out of the tunnel for the first time, rpg magic.
Bioshock. Swimming up into Rapture for the first time.
Mass Effect 2. The whole opening sequence.

edit:

If I had to pick one single moment in all of my time in 'd have to pick Everquest.

Starting in Surfall Glade and heading into Qeynos for the first time and realising that all these people were really people. Magical.

Probably a bit of a cliche, but Final Fantasy VII when Sephiroth kills Aeris. I don't think I'd ever played a game before where one of the main characters was bumped off like that.

You know I'd probably go for Everquest too, that was my first MMO and has some of my best gaming memories.

Freespace 2 when you first see the Juggernaut Class Shivan ship.

And then later when you kill it, thinking you're awesome... only to find they have hundreds of them...

how can no-one mention when Master Miller is revealed as *someone else* in MGS?!

I dont think i've ever been so side-swiped, thinking to myself "how did I not see that coming?!"

I was going to write exactly the same thing. That was such an emotional and epic moment, particularly being such a big FFVII fan. It all happened so slow, and with that music...oh the tragedy!

Have to agree with two already mentioned, and add another:

T-Rex in Tomb Raider
The death in RDR,
and 'who let the dogs out' in Resident Evil. I nearly jumped out of my skin!! :o
