MGS4 again, but the Microwave Corridor, such simple gameplay but amazingly effective, emotional, hammering the button, willing old snake to get through, totally fantastic.

Couldn't physically play that game. Tried 3 times. Just feels like I'm going to have a heart attack.
My clan CS days were fantastic. More about the people than the game though. Ultimate moment, Fubar having a nose bleed in a clan match and just shouting "NOSEEBLEEED"...
Most mind blowing was the first time playing HL, not even knowing what I had picked up. Deus Ex is the only game I class on par with that, as I similarly didn't know what I had picked up. It's those opening sequences!
Goldeneye 64, multiplayer proxy mines on stack.
Halo system linked. Bring your own TV and xbox and take over a mates house with network cables.
GH3. The game of my uni days. 2 guitars. Mates. Rocking.

every single one of the Halo: Wars cutscenes, the first in particular 'Five Long Years...' that was awesome I thought. but, and its a big but the single most memorable moment in console gaming history for me is the Gears of War II 'Speech', that literally gives me chills every single time I see and hear it, Gears of War is quickly becoming the best video game franchise I think, in my eyes its already surpassed Halo (as much as I love the Halo Universe), but that speech is without doubt my biggest stand-out moment!

That was really funny for me as when I got to that section my parents and their friends came over at that very point and I had to explain why I was playing a game about watching an old man's ass while he grunts.
Also as far as I can recall it's Otacon in the Mk 2 that takes out the server. So Snake didn't need to crawl through that pipe at all.

Yes! I had a big bunch of mates over last halloween and we plaid 8 player Halo: Reach on two big TVs in my living room. Online multiplayer is fun, but there is no substitute for a Videogame House Party (someone baked a Portal cake
). Particularly if you're all in fancy dress.Not true, as the weird arm robot things would have owned the MK 2 while it was hacking the server. If snake wasn't there, it wouldn't have succeeded.
For me, Final Fantasy VIII, when the two Gardens clash. Epicness.

I do recall that Broken Sword III: The Sleeping Dragon actually made me cry. I wrote to Charles Cecil and told him so. But thinking about it, I can't actually remember what made me cry. Perhaps Nicole died or something. 
Yes, discovering Nazara was an actual Reaper sent me agog. And climbing up the Citadel tower whilst he's perched atop it. Amazing.

Here's another one-
the perfect balance between fun and challenging- L4D2, Dead centre last chapter where you are filling up the tank on that car. me and 3 mates doing it, at one point there was only one of us left with a tank going after him, he managed to kill it, then revived one of us, who then revived the other and somehow, we managed to finish with everyone still alive.

Shooting Arrows into raptors on the heavily fogged Turok 2, one shotting them through the heart, not to mention the 'cerebral bore', a weapon firing drills into enemies skulls.
Then kingpin, the consistent swearing. violence and gore. I loved every minute of it and may have to find it somewhere. I loved hiring thugs and watch people fight it out for you.
Then there's the countless hours playing goldeneye 64, the sniper rifle that revolutionised the genre, the four player late friday and saturday night evenings playing it. putting in the code for additional players and completing it on 00 agent to unlock to two bonus levels. My Jaw hitting the floor with the satellite dish level (2nd?) and still remember reading the manual on the bus ride back and looking at the box art, then watching the movie and seeing where the game tied in.
Talking about n64, I shall digress a bit.
I must have been about 14, and saved up all my money during summer to buy a nintendo 64 with sm64, I game I read up as 'gamemasters' exclusive. I was in butlins at the time, and spent it all fondly looking at the images... anyway.
I left the indie shop and got onto the bus with my pride and joy under my arm to go back home. When there was a nice, 'but in a weird way' girl from my school that had the whitest hair I'd ever seen. We had talked in passing but not much else. When she saw me she sat next to me and feigned interest in my console and suggested we went to the beach. She just wouldn't take no for an answer no matter how hard I tried, so I begrudgingly got off the bus, marched home, chucked my 64 in the wardrobe, grabbed my trunks and off I marched.
We went to the local beach which was quiet. not surprising as the weather was foul, we got in the water and she must've spent the next 30 minutes trying to deflower me, with the only thought going through my head about going home and playing my 64, that was all I wanted to do that day, and probably at that time, all I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I eventually managed to leave, in one piece, and spend some quality time on my own, curtains shut making a plumber jump through pictures and surf on a turtle shell. I was so stupid.
What about finding out that your processor was mmx enabled, letting you play the voxel based delta force with its huge vistas, and once more, sniper rifles.
the original unreal tournament, loved it, still do, my ion netbook plays it perfectly. The amount of customisations was amazing, especially the assault modes.
there are many many more but I'm hoping some people will reminiscent with me!

A lot of great moments in games come from where you are forced to make a decision, i've mentioned the one in Mass effect, but also in Dragon Age, having to decide wheter to make Morigan's deal is a great moment, I really had to think before i continued. Really well done moment

Not really a moment, but the experience of playing Shenmue for the first time. It drew me into a world like nothing else I'd played before and I actually felt like I was living another life in another world.
Also Oblivion, as I exited the dungeon at the beginning of the game and was running across a field heading toward the woods in the distance where I would make camp for the night as the sun went down behind me and the evening mist was rising up from the ground - all the while with that ambient soundtrack playing softly in the background. Beautiful moment. It was like being there.
And two excellent bits in the Crysis games spring to mind. In Crysis when the sun comes up in the first level for the first time and you look out over the beach while standing on that clifftop as the plane flies past and the music plays is breathtaking, and in Crysis Warhead the cutscene after the train bridge explodes and Psycho feels remorse over his fallen comrade. Great bit of writing there and quite emotional to see some of the things a Soldier may go through out in the field.
Finally, getting the Flamethrower for the first time in Killzone 2 and using it on those pesky Helgan troops!

Worst one in the series! Nico sort of dies I think but you save her...
The start of the first one on the other hand is a real stand out moment as it was so so crazy! I had a demo of the opening part of the game and was hooked for ever! (might have to buy it on steam to play tonight...)

First level on god of war 3 for me where your on the side of mount olympus with the 4 titans trying to reach the top and kill zeus. Gotta defend gaia from Poseidon's attacks where he creates a massive sea monster thing which is either attacking the titan your riding to the top or one of the others in the background whilst your fighting minions. Stupidly well made game, truly epic.
I actually forgot about that! The moment where Kratos leaps through Poseidons avatar and forces him out is just utterly sublime. So many great moments in that game, it's just a shame it ended so abruptly

Good call. I almost creamed my pants when I heard Sovereign's voice. If Megatron and Optimus Prime had a baby it would sound like Sovereign.
It's one of the few scenes in a game, where it's just talking, but you HAVE to listen to it with the volume and bass turned right up to appreciate the awesome

Final fantasy 7 when you use omnislash at the end. Epic cutscene! The death of a certain character never bothered me. I didn't use her and I wasn't overly bothered at her death.
Gears of war 2 gets a vote, when you find his girl, and she comes out the chamber fine and then things fade aback to reality. Really well done! Actually made me sad!
And then of course metal gear. The bit with psycho mantis, reading off your memory card and the fact you could swap pads and he was blind to your moves! The opening scene of metal gear solid 2 on the bridge was just awesome. And then the closing scene of metal gear solid 4.
