Anyone else hate eating at restaurants?

Does anyone else think eating at restaurants is over-rated? I don't know anyone who doesn't love it. I hate having to pretend I'm enjoying myself when I'm obliged to go out to eat.

  • I don't like strangers watching me eat.
  • I don't like watching strangers eat, especially fat ones.
  • Food is over-rated, I mostly want to fill my belly I don't really care what it tastes like as long as it's healthy. I don't like the idea of eating for entertainment.
  • I don't like spending a lot of money on something that I'm just going to poop out.
  • I don't like having to tip people just for doing their job.
  • They usually give you too much food and it gets wasted.
  • It's usually too loud, too dark, or too crowded.

Oh yeah and here everything is horribly over-seasoned and over salted to appease these diabetic land whale's diminished sense of taste from years of masturbatory gustation.

ITT : Hey, I'm a sociopath and here are some things that I don't like even though they're completely normal.

Fine words from a fourteen year old who only eats at MacDonald’s.

With the exception of yourself who admits to watching other eat I don't think anyone else is watching you eat. Very odd.

The simple idea is that you go to the restaurant because they cook better than you, offer nicer place to comsume the food than your bedroom/kitchen would be and provide perfect environment for social tête-à-tête (unless of course you would rather if you date, or worse yet, your business partners, had a pizza from carton box while staring at that wash basket full of suspiciously stained single, rolled up socks in the loft of your mums place, rather than fine meal with matching wine over rooftop panorama of the city).

If catering doesn't work for you in that way, you either need to try restaurants in other towns, preferably ones that don't serve heated up microwave meals, or alternatively - perhaps not dining alone might shed some light on why peope do it. ;)

So what you like to just eat by yourself in your own home? What about when that is not possible, what about when you go on holiday with a few people?

1) Nobody is watching you eat, they might be looking at your food to see if they want to order that meal

2) Then dont look at people eating?

3) Then get a salad or something cheap, you dont eat for entertainment you talk during the meal for entertainment

4) Stop ordering lobster or massive steaks then

5) I dont tip people either, unless i go to a place regularly. How is that a problem?

6) Order less then, or eat it all, how is that even a problem i dont understand?

7) Pick a better restaurant

Why are people insulting kwerk and saying he's a troll for saying he doesn't see the point in restaurants? Is he posting on the restaurantowners.co.uk forums, or is eating out an unquestioned ideology that forms the base of modern society?

Some spineless posters here really do take any opportunity to get their cheap shots in when they see a reputed "troll" making a thread, regardless of what the post actually contains.

I dont mind them but the ones I absolutely hate are those where the menu has items on it that are just yummy.

But when the food arrives its just about enough to feed a sparrow.

And you pay a big bill...but leave hungry. Those are the ones I hate and will never return to.

Highly common I'm afraid, never ceases to amaze me when people present a window in to the state of their mind on a forum, god knows what they must be like in person. To say they're reactive (which springs to mind) seems to be an understatement. Either that or a wind up. :)
