***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

I've got to the bit where you meet up with some soldiers and they keep yelling 'Move Up, Go!'.

But this yelling keeps on going for, well so far about 20 minutes and it's driving me mad

Does this ever stop? Is it a bug? It's making the game unplayable :(

Restarting the game doesn't help and i cannot go back to a previous..... because there aren't any bloody saves!

Yup, That's a big annoying Bug :D

Some of you lot complaining are pathetic. It looks just as good at the first, actually I find some of the city scenes to look fantastic and far beyond the detail found in the first game.

Get a grip you bunch of morons. I bet if this was a PC exclusive and looked exactly the same as it does now you wouldn't be so critical.

Oh and it's much more of a game than the first. That was a dull game and I don't care what anybody says. It wasn't good, it was hardly open at all and it lacks the action this game has.

There's still multiple ways to do things in this game and routes to take. Not as many as the first but so what? At least it's less dull.

You're more annoying to listen to than CoD fanboys.

And now you yourself are being close minded :o

I'm enjoying sneaking along in cloak mode and headshotting the marines, you can literally clear whole areas this way without being spotted if you're careful. Aliens are a bit tougher though.

The singleplayer aint that bad but the AI is really really bad, no amount of times have i been spotted when hiding behind something, and them staring at me for like 30 seconds before opening fire etc, to many bugs with it to mention

yes, but this is typical of ALL SHOOTERS....in varying amounts, but the AI Spawning in front/behind of you is bloody dreadful, let's hope this isn't mentioned in the reviews, because i get enough of this crap in TERRORIST HUNT and it spoils all shooters :D

what is of concern is mentioned here often, boredom....or it's hinted at !!

the perfect shooter, who will produce it? i'm not sure, but too much shooting out in the streets of NY; or in any city, without any variety of locations is definitely tiresome..... and all i've seen of CRYSIS 2 is photos of streets :( ok i might be wrong but this bothers me, because the worst thing about any shooter is when you have to kill too many at once, and if they're all around you as well, ok you eventually kill them, but in reality it's not satisfying gameplay, because you know you should be dead! ( i always feel guilty and think i should be dead) , now if CRYSIS 2 is like this all the way through then it wont be much fun, finally; CRYSIS isn't a realistic tactical shooters, it's more like an RPG, so you cant expect much from this game

I can't begin to say how utterly wrong you are on every level.

If you think Crysis 2 has more substance than the original and Warhead then there really is no hope for you.

As for the graphics being 'just as good' or 'better', then how come rigs that would keel over and die running Crysis seem to have no trouble ploughing through Crysis2?

It's because they've dropped down the view distance to next to nothing (thanks city scape), massively reduced the playing area and forced you down single routes and small corridors, they've pretty much done away with all physics, as there's nothing really that is destructible, they've done away with fancy water effects, there's pretty much no foliage to render, etc etc etc.

They've stripped the game down to the bare minimum required to be on the screen and shoved as many particle effects and post processing effects in as humanly possible to cover up the fact.

As a normal FPS it's pretty, as a console game it's one of the best looking for sure. However compared to Crysis and Warhead... it's a pale shadow.

As for gameplay, I've replayed Crysis and Warhead multiple times, I honestly doubt I'll ever bother replaying Crysis2. I can barely bring myself to finish it the first time.

No hope for me? Get bent.

OK so if the graphics aren't just as good, can you explain to me, outside of a few texture irregularities why the game looks just as good? No? Oh ok then. Draw distance is decent, all you could see in the last one was trees and mountains. Wow. Oh and you had to go down the same routes in Crysis, yeah you could choose a slightly different one but fact is you still had to do the same LINEAR missions no matter what. Not a big deal.

Also what is your definition of a rig that would keel over running Crysis but not Crysis 2? I had an 8800GT back in the days of Crysis and that ran it rather well on high. An 8800GT certainly isn't going to plough through this and it didn't in the first either.

Honestly I'm so done here, I'm a PC gamer and all but the amount of whining you lot dish out is pathetic.

Go stare at your Heaven benchmarks. It seems you only have an interest in things that look amazing but have little substance.

Crysis 2 is far from great, but it's far from bad. It's a worth successor to the first and is more focused. That's about it.

Yes actually, and I already did. Draw distance. Physics. Limited Destruction. Textures. Water. Terrible POM. Everything feels 'chunkier'. etc etc. I could go on, but you obviously don't want to listen.

Draw distance is decent, all you could see in the last one was trees and mountains.

Draw distance is NON EXISTENT. They've filled the entire game with a skyscraper skybox. It's the only way they could make the game feasible on a console.

It is a massive deal. Crysis 2 you are forced down a very very limited path, and you MUST do the level exactly as instructed.

Crysis you could come at an objective from any side, in multiple different ways. If you played Crysis as much as you claim you have then you know this and are just playing devils advocate for the sake of it. The constriction of level progression on Crysis 2 is pretty much linear, you have one way of doing things, it gives you 'tactical options' but thats just akin to asking door one or two, it doesn't really play out any differently. Crysis was WAY more sandbox and you know it.

I'm a PC gamer also, as are MANY of the people who think it's a pretty darn average and meh game.

It brings nothing new, it's all been done before, and IMHO and in many others opinion it is FAR from a worth successor to Crysis.

It's not that Crysis 2 is a bad game, it's just that it's not really what you expect from a Crysis game.

You could quite easily take the nanosuit out of the game, and replace it with some other mechanic and protagonist and relabel it under any guise you liked, and it'd just be another FPS with aliens in.

Well, I'm not sure what all the whining is about to be honest. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far and the graphics are excellent! I think some people just have a cob on because a) It's also on consoles and b) It doesn't max out their £3000 nuclear powered triSLI uber rig

Here's a question for those who have the game and have been playing it. Is it 4 years worth of effort better than the original crysis?

I'd have to compare it to Warhead due to Warhead is more action packed than the first, and Warhead wins.

Thing is when I'm done with Crysis 2 I probably won't play it ever again, maybe when I upgrade to run it max but I'm near max already.

With Crysis 1 at least it had a bit more re-playability being able to come at any angle I wanted but it's no fun being almost on rails again and again.

Hopefully the modding community gets behind this game. There's loads of mods out there for the original crysis that make it worth fiddling with again. Hopefully the same happens for Crysis 2.

I'm getting really irritated with fanboys and trolls on metacritic. You have people rating 10, then listing a whole bunch of things bad about the game, but state they're giving it a 10 because PC elitists are whining.
Then you have people rating it 0-2, and going on to say gameplay is okay, but because it's a console focused game and only has dx9 they're going to give it a 0. You click on these peoples usernames, and low and behold, half of them have also rated DAII a 0 with that and crysis being the only two games they've rated, or having not rated any other games at all.

Idiots on both sides can't see they're ruining what has previously been a reliable resource for user reviews, and so for other people trying to determine if a game really is worth it, is becoming an impossible task.
