***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Looks like someone dropped a clanger as it's possible to play multiplayer without actually purchasing the game at the moment. Hope this gets patched out in the next update but could explain why someone above mentioned hackers above.

In a way this could be a cunning ploy to get the pirates playing the game online and get them hooked so they'll buy when the next patch comes out.

They said there would be added emphasis on the story and even hired a professional writer, Richard Morgan to write the story but it's hardly stellar. Still I would rate the game an 8/10 (crysis 1 being a 9/10 for reference).

I thought being such a distinctly stylistic writer his impact on the story would be obvious, but given how it is he could've been just correcting grammar for all we know. Such a shame!

I would also agree with the 8/10. By the way, am I the only one bothered by the 'tactical options' thing? They never seem to be all that useful, and in fact, severely vague.

any help on changing fov to 80 cheers :cool:

tried looking for a config but cant find anything any where

Not sure if this is right but try creating a text file with the text:-

g_skipIntro=1
cl_fov=80

and naming it autoexec.cfg and placing it in your Crysis 2 folder.

I know for a fact this stops the rather annoying intro video, which always wind me up so assume that it affects the fov too.

I found this fov command somewhere when looking to disable the intro video so it's a bonus. I always find the default fov too low.

Enjoying the game. Plays very well on my 3yr old rig/GTX260 and I find the campaign has a more-ish attraction (one more go just to see what happens next). I can play the game on the extreme setting & manage about 30fps but I actually prefer the gfx at very high as they seem sharper (maybe less hdr, blur etc).

However, couple of niggles with MP:
Every time I attempt to play MP I get asked for game serial code even though I inputed in on the day I received the game

Haven't been able to connect to one online game yet as I get a message that I am behind a strict firewall, even though I have unblocked it & allowed it through when prompted by Windows. Could this be to do with my BT home hub2 perhaps?

Some more good games on the TFU server earlier, best i've played on so far!
At least you know that the game is going to start, and you will not be kicked out half-way through!!

I'm only maxing the game because i'm playing on my low-res tv atm whilst waiting for a new monitor. when i up the res, my 5850 might struggle a bit, but on my TV i have to have V-sync on, and i get a constant 60fps, never dropping. same on MP(with an occasional drop, but not by much)

I do get the feeling that i am missing out playing on such a low resolution though. But it still looks brilliant!!

Hello, yes I have a home hub, I have the same issue with the cd-key and I get the strict warning too, you have to create an application rule within the homehub and assign it to your computers internal ip address, I haven't got round to doing mine yet as I only got the game today but doing this works fine with every other device on my network. Could the cd-key issue be related to this? quite possible.

Read the last page. The cd key issue = Input the key to get into the multiplayer menu then log back to single player then click mulitplayer and enter the key for a second time. It will rid you of the problem. It also got rid of the server connection issue for me.

Spiki and Xink, the fix for the serial key is as follows-
login to Multiplayer
go to single player
Log back in to multiplayer.
It should then save your settings all the time. It worked for me, and quite a few other people in this thread. though i thought it had been fixed?

edit- podmonkey got there first.

I thought I'd post back and happily admit to being wrong, lol, I decided to give crysis 2 another shot, coz originally I posted and said I didnt like the game and that I'd tried it for about 20 mins....

Well 5 hours later and I'm actually loving the game now lol, so guess I was too quick to decide...

But I have one thing to say, the reason I jumped to that conclusion was because most great games in the past pull you in to the game and story in first 20 mins, and for me, this game didn't do that, it wasn't until I was about an hour in to the game where I thought "actually, this is getting good now!!" So I think they should have made the start better.

Also I've seen some people in this thread mention extreem setting? how do you turn that on, mine only goes to gamer/advanced/hardcore, and mines set to hardcore, my PC is old socket 755 quad core 2.3ghz with 4gig DDR2 memory but still runs smooth as 1680x1050.

Also I see there is a new patch out for the game, havent installed it yet, is it worth installing or not? what does it include? Just dont want it to mess up my game?

Sorry to jump to conclusions but its a must. your gamer/advanced/hardcore settings are there because either your version is pirated or the auto updater hasnt triggered (both plausable). The patch is what changes the settings name to extreme etc along with a few minor fixes.

welcome back. all is forgiven;)

it just changed after the patch, it's the same settings afaik.

-Podmonkey- Auto-update has not been working for some, and ironically, was also meant to be fixed in the patch i heard. LOL

if I run the launcher it comes up with an auto updater but I stopped it, but now you've told me that I'll update it so I can go to extreme.
