2011 Panasonic UK Plasma Range Announced

I don't think the 46" are coming to the uk for quite a while.

Can people tell me if there is any reason why I shouldn't pick up a 50" G30 for my room just before june? I've seen them for £1000, seems like a good deal to me. Too good.

Is the picture a lot better on the others or is it just 3d as the 3d doesn't really interest me. I will get 3d for my pc instead.

Also what wall mounts would people reccomend for a 50" screen? I don't think I will be getting a tilting one. But if you want you could reccomend both types so Ihave it covered. Definitely don't need swivil.

Also what's the big deal with free-sat and freeview hd. Is freeview hd all the current freeview channels in hd or only the few big ones like bbc etc and the rest are sd? And is free-sat completely differnt channels or the same channels just in a different format?

Doing well so far, today i got 2 50gt30's, 2 32dt30's and 2 42g30's, also had a 46gt30 which i sold come in last week.

What wall mounting would you recommend for a 50" g30? Also how would you compare the screens in term of quality. I'm not interested in 3d but I want a good quality 2d. Is the GT better than the G? in terms of 2d performance?

We havent put the g30 out yet, simply have no room, from what ive seen at the roadshow and launch show they are very good, i know the GT30 uses the screen from the VT20 last year, the G30 does not have freesat if thats one thing your after.

Wall mounting should be fairly easy, is it flat or going to be on a swivel/tilt mount ?

Oh, if its the vt20 from last year that means it will have all the bugs with floating black points and all that then?

I'm thinking of juts having it flush wall mounted. Or flush as I can get. How much would you recommend spending? Seems I could spend £100 or £30 and I don't know at what point you are paying just for a name etc.

Tbh I've not come across floating blacks, I probably wouldn't even know what it is, every telly has its issue you could end upn ever buying one, as for wall mounts I find Titan ones are very good, the only issue with this years range is the depth, as the screens are only an inch thick, but the speakers stick out at the back so one with a tilt may be better as it will allow room between the wall and casing.

Well apparently there are a lot of problems with the last gen screens. I don't doubt they are very over dramatised but never the less if I can avoid taking the risk why not?

I'm glad you pointed that out as it is not something I would have ever considered. Does that mean then that simple wall mount to try and keep it as flush with the wall as possible is a no no? I shall look into the titan models for tilting ones. Maybe I shall just put the screen higher up instead now if i'm going to get a tilting one.

Looks to me that the 42" GT30 and 50"G30 cost the same.

Question is,apart from 3d and free-sat what are the differences? And is free-sat something I should be concerned about?

Do you have Sky ? if so freesat is not really needed, i use it as i get a poor freeview reception, so it a great alternative, if your not worried about 3D get the 50G30, bigger screen for the same money, but with the gt30 you get no glasses so you have to add that on.

I shall be waiting for an avforums review or similar, they know about the issues so I'm sure they'll point out if something like the GT30 has the same problems as the last gen :)

Ah I see, nope I don't have sky. Not an issue then. Cheers, looks like i'll be getting the 50" g30. Can't wait :). Just need speakers too now hummmm.

with regards to 3D it doesn't look to be any different from the VT20/25.
All in all GT30 is a fantastic 3D TV and I believe that the performance is almost identical to last year’s high-end VT25 / VT20 model, which is also our 3D reference. At the same time it means that Panasonic currently has the best 3D picture quality on the market and once again we see that plasma is a far superior choice when it comes to 3D picture quality.
The 3D glasses are still a bit clumsy and too heavy. The new ones introduced in September 2010 are definitely better and lighter but still far from perfect.

So I sold the last 42GT20 today so got it boxed and the new 42gt30 out, I put it next to the vt20 and the first thing you notice is how compact it looks for a 42'', secondly is how black the screen is, the new filter gives it and edge I'd say over the vt20.

I also had a go at using the settings in one the reviews, if that was running in store it would never sell, it looked so washed out and dull, I appreciate its not the full calibration as I don't have a machine, but if that's the results I'd be unhappy.

The telly it self looks fantastic, I'd have one now if I had the money. For now tho I'll have to make do with the G10.

think the only difference is with the contrast, the GT has Ifinite Black Pro while the G just has Ifinite Black.
