Well this looks awesome!.. Asus Eee Transformer Tablet

I have bitten the bullet and ordered one online from comet, delivery is scheduled for tomorrow morning before midday, so fingers crossed :)

Well I find it very disappointing that I can't go into one of these stores and have a play with the transformer!!! Thats one area that Apple has hands down done better than most of the tablet manufacturers. Fair enough they have their own stores but surely they must be able to send out say 100 of these things to each major store??? I really want to have a play before I buy but can't find anywhere to do this!!

Guess I am going to just have to wait and hope they release more tablets to the stores so they put them on display :(

Test

I too have ordered one from "Asteroid" - As a newbie here I wondered why code words were being used until I innocently tried to post something and discovered that part of my text appeared as asterisks.

I find it really strange that the forum feels the need to censor some online shops whilst others aren't. A quick test of some illustrates the point. If I never post here again, it will be either because I have been banned for entering certain online shops - or I am enthralled by my Transformer!

Read the rules and please do not attempt to circumvent the forums automatic censor.

Incidentally, the twitter feed from Asus gives the impression that more stocks will be arriving shortly at retail stores and there will be some good news for those wanting to buy the keyboard dock as an add-on.

^ I wouldn't do that. They will ban you.

I think people need to understand that you can mention a shop if it is NOT in direct competition with OCUK, Purple shirt world are, Comet, Currys, Amazon, Tesco and Asda for example, are not.

And even if they were, 'masking' names is not allowed either so you would all be in the **** for calling it Asteroid anyway.

:p

The use of code words are used because if you read the rules for the forums it says that there can be no mention of competitor websites.

Well it's a bit silly posting all those competitors when it's clearly against the rules. If you look at the ones starred out then it looks entirely sensible to me, the ones visible are far more generic stores whereas the starred out ones are mail order component companies with an almost exactly the same stock line as Overclockers.

The rules *used* to be stupid when you couldn't even say Amazon but now they make sense.

UKAndroid, the way i see it is the ones which are stared out are in direct competition with OCUK with online stores, whilst the likes of Amazon and the Dixon Group etc are not, but it is a bit hit and miss.

Wow, he hasn't been banned yet, or even had his post edited!

I suppose nobody has reported him then, we're all too nice in here :p

Just to make the rules clear:

No promotion of OcUK's competitors

We, Overclockers UK (OcUK) are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwidth which is paid for exclusively by us. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-
Posting links to competitors websites
Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
Disguising attempts to do any of the above

You might want to remove some of those. :)

Competitors I can see why, but auction sites? I never knew that..

See, even an old hand can learn new tricks..

Thanks for the info - I had not realised that free speech was such a precious commodity.

My post has been edited now so it may not make sense to later readers. I was not attempting to promote any competitor but just wondering why there was such a strange censorship policy. I understand the the forum is provided by OC for their customers and costs money to run and, in an ideal world, competitors would not be mentioned. Nevertheless, I just find the censorship somewhat over protective.

Many manufacturers forums freely allow mention of competitor products - Motorola forums are full of mentions of HTC, Samsung, Asus etc. etc. The reverse is also true.

Anyway - I have now re-read the rules more carefully and will try to abide by them. And I suppose I ought to thank the mods for not immediately banning me and just rapping my knuckles!

Can you not honestly understand why they dont allow it?

Unfortunately 'free speech' isn't allowed when you agree to some Terms and Conditions stating clear rules against certain things.

Samsung and HTC are huge global companies and OCUK are one warehouse. Cant you see the difference?
