I suppose he is the best midfielder in England though
Talking to a Newcastle fan yesterday who said he fancied him as one of the best midfielders in the world... who says they're delusional, eh.

Talking seriously I would rate him, he's certainly one of the best players at Newcastle at the moment, if not the. Confident, looks for the ball, good passing, very aware of the players around him, great solicitor...

Reina's not been committal on his future because he wanted to see the our intentions first. That doesn't mean he was ever going to join Utd.

re Barton: He's far from a bad player and at one point he looked like he could go on and become a 'top 4' calibre player but that point is long gone.

I don't think anybody is debating that, everybody knows that any deal would be all but impossible. guy thinks that Reina wanted to join Utd though.

I'd rather spend £12m on him than £15m+ on Cahill. From what I've seen Jones looks like he's got the potential to be top class. Also at his age we'd be able to gradually integrate him into the side where as a Cahill (or similar) would expect to be first choice, and I'm not totally convinced he's ready for that.

I'd rather we spent £12m on Kjaer than Jones or Cahill :)

Here we go with the fabregas rumours all summer again. :p

Anyone watch the german league and know if nuri sahin is any good? Were a few rumours linking him to chelsea but I don't know anything about him at all.

Can't see vds staying on, might have been saying those things just to help man u when buying a new keeper (neuer?).

Interesting to see where sanchez ends up...

If Fabregas is sold for £35m it will be a disgrace. He's worth much more than that to us, and well .. to any other club in the world bar Barca.

Sahin is a decent prospect, not exactly the finished article but a really decent player and one who you'd expect to be a big name in 5 years

Is it just me that thinks jones has loads of potential? Slightly more than say Suarez and about on par with welbeck.

Oh and sahin is ace, just needs to improve his decision making a little. I'd take both him and gotze at united.

Oh you know us. He'll probably go for £30 just because we're **** at selling players.

I think he kept his options open until United were openly seen to be courting somebody else and Livermule's new sugar daddies openly talked about their 'ambition' for the club in concrete terms (which Reina mentions), which I think is fair comment as why not 'quash the rumours' earlier then if it's not so clearly not happening Pepe? The rumours have been around for a while and Baz was moaning about it on here before.

He just doesn't understand United's allure... sure they might be the enemies of airport security everywhere due to all that metal swinging from their chests come May, but that's a small price for 'The Glory' (TM) and Pepe knows that... ;)

Is that the Danish defender that moved to Wolfsburg rather than the Premiership because he wasn't deemed good enough and the one that's been criticised for not playing well in Germany? Rather not have him if it is.

Yep thats the one, mind you, Forlan moved to the premiership and was then criticised for not playing well in England, yet I'd still happily take him. As we all know, sometimes a move doesnt work out well for a player, but that in itself is not an indication that the player in question is naff.

Forlan was absolutely pony when he was at United though, ridiculously poor.

Thats my point though, because a player is poor for a team that doesnt mean he is a bad player, or do you think Forlan is a poor player? Sometimes transfers dont work out for a player (as yet for instance Torres for chelsea is an example, as is Shevchenko, yet there is no denying both of their abilities), Kjaer has been a bit hit and miss for Wolfsburg, but how a player performs at one team in one country is by no means the final indication of how good said player is.

Ultimately, if someone asks me would I be happier paying £12m for Phil Jones or £12m for Simon Kjaer, then I would be happier paying that for Kjaer. Luckily the decision isnt up to me though.
