dont get me wrong, i think fabregas is, or at least was ace. But i dont know if his legs have gone, too much too soon. Burn out? whatever. But todays fabregas isnt the fabregas of 2 years ago.

It's wrong to judge him on this season due to his hamstrings and to be fair he has had more bad games this season than in any other .. about 2. As soon as he's visibly fully fit though he's always the best Arsenal player out there by a stretch, he's still got it all but his talent has been distorted by so many injuries and subsequently he's had a lot of games where he's not been fully match fit, he's still quality in those games though just obviously not as sharp. The reason we can't sell him on the cheap is mainly because Arsenal are twice the side when he's in the team, without him everything changes, he is the heartbeat of Arsenal and it would be utterly foolish to sell him at all, but if you had to, you'd get what he's worth and more, simply because he's irreplaceable with any amount of money and he has 4 years left on his contract. I'd rather have him for 4 years than £40m with no doubt.

The only game I've seen recently that Fabregas has played well in was the Spurs 3-3 but that's also the first game in ages that VDV has played well in also so probably more to do with the fixture.

Other than that he was poor against Bolton, poor against Liverpool, poor in both games against Barca, poor against United (did he play in the FA Cup tie, I cant remember) and I'm sure if I looked at your fixture list I'd be reminded of some other games I've seen where he's been poor.

He strikes me that he wants out of the club, but then that's understandable as he was probably assured that if he stayed for one more season that he'd be free to leave this summer so his heart is probably already in Barcelona. We had the exact same thing with Ronaldo in his last season.

So you expected him to come out and rule out individual clubs one at a time? Had Reina came out and said I'm not joining Utd but I'm not committing to Liverpool, the conclusion would have been he's off to Arsenal or whoever.

Not only do I doubt Reina would have ever considered that 'avenue' but I doubt that 'avenue' ever existed so there would have been nothing to consider. There's no way we'd have willingly sold to you and although it's rumoured he's got a clause in his deal, the talk at the time of Torres's move to Chelsea was that his clause excluded Utd, I assume the same would apply to Reina's.
Ruling out clubs one at a time isn't quite what I was proposing again though, was it? ;)

I'm not doubting the whole Scouse/Manc angle to it, there's no delusions there, all I'm saying is that Reina not saying anything regarding the rumours to United does say that he at least left the possibility open. To quote a similar recent incident I believe Villa ruled out Real a bit before his transfer from Valencia to Barcelona, even if a player is planning in leaving usually they would try to rule out rivals publically to try and preserve at least some good leaning with the fans.

I know that Cccccchhharragher and co. are born-and-bred, congealed on the banks of the Mersey Scouse and would never consider it for obvious reasons, but Reina's obviously not of the same ilk and came in under a different manager. Not saying it didn't weigh on his mind or that he doesn't share the 'values' of the club, but never, EVER, considered it? Come on.

Maybe he wanted revenge for how Benitez was treated at Anfield... did you watch Sky Sports? :p

As I said, had Reina come out and rule out moving to Utd while not being in a position to commit to Liverpool the press would have put 2 and 2 together and come up with him joining Arsenal. As for never EVER considering it, that would depend on what you consider considering :p I don't think it was ever a serious consideration.

Regarding Villa; did he ever rule out Real? I thought he came very close to joining them only for the move to break down over the size of the transfer fee.

To be fair it came to ruling out both then so be it, after that there is no major domestic clubs looking for goalkeepers. To leave the rumour mill run for months on the same club does leave me thinking Pepe didn't want to burn any bridges if Sir 'Taggart' bust down the scummy doors of Anfield with sacks of cash under his whiskey-soaked arms.

I was under the impression with Villa that joining Real was never a serious consideration given relations between the two clubs and he came out and said so before the transfer to Barcelona was completed. It is a similar situation as the media at the time noted it was unlikely he'd turn to Madrid so it was a matter of him 'setting the record straight' in an expected way... reminds me of someone... :p

Why would he rule out Arsenal (for example) when there was a chance he might move their in the summer? After all, this 'clause' he has in his contract was reportedly only inserted in his contract after Arsenal bid for him last summer. Reportedly he agreed to give it another year to see how things went but wanted clause there should things not pick up.

As for Villa, from what I remember Real were trying to do a deal to sign both him and Albiol at the same time but they couldn't agree a fee and just signed Albiol.

more rumours that Utd are now chasing Julio Cesar - and seeing as all Utd's "1st choices" either dont want to leave their current country, or just isnt viable (ie Riena), JC would be a decent solution (even though not perfect given that he is 6-10 years older than majority of other targets) and would probably cost a mini-fortune

I really hope Utd dont go for the Portugese No 1, he just looks like "the most avaiable" rather than anyone actually decent enough

De Gea???

No - I dont believe he is an option anymore either, seems like he wants to stay in Spain after all (a few rumours of this were about a month or more back, so it might be a "repeat" of this or not - but I wouldnt be surprised if De Gea didnt happen)

Looks like chelsea might get van der wiel. Good news as we've struggled at right back over the last season and ivanovic is better at centre back.

He is? Always looks like a weak link when I've seen him play there. Cant see him getting a game at CB over Alex or Luiz tbh

Reports in France say that we've signed Marveaux on a bosman, although it's reportedly been a done deal half a dozen times already so who knows if it's done or not.

There's also reports in Belgium saying that we've had an offer rejected for Lukaku.

This is the thing when a young player is over played - he picks up niggly injuries and he can't get a run of form in. It was only towards the end of this season that he's back to his best. Against Bolton, Liverpool and Spurs he was fantastic. Earlier against almost every other side he played against he was poorer than we're used to.

The 'he wants to leave' thing keeps being promoted/resurrected by United fans. It's almost like your all bitter that after a media campaign you lost your best player and are hoping it happens to another.

Lukaku is interesting - he seems to want to come to the prem but I can't see chelsea, man u, liverpool, or arsenal being interested. Could see spurs making a bid though...

Chelsea not interested despite all the constant rumours?

Well no I don't think we are interested. Most of the rumours were before torres was signed. I don't think we'd pair lukaku with torres - it would be the same as drogba and torres.

I believe we are trying to sign neymar though as he would work better with torres and we already made a bit for him in january.

edit: we'll also bring sturridge back as well of course, and likely sell one of anelka or drogba.

Anelka's more versatile, so my guess would be that he is the one kept ..... waits for confirmation that Anelka is sold and Drogba kept lol :D

You may bring him back but you wont play him so it would make more sense to sell him now while his value is high, much like Welbeck at United.

Well to be fair - with the amount of games the top teams play (50 - 60 competitive games during a season) , I dont see why Chelsea cant keep a couple of young strikers happy in CC, FAC and a few sub / starter apps in the EPL , while still giving Torres and /or Drogba /Anelka happy with the more "senior" games.

Surely its Malouda / Kalou who are more in danger from Sturridge's return

I would really hope Welbeck is sold though
