*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Hey folks, I got my nice shiny new Desire earlier today and got it rooted easily and installed ModManager from the app market.

I wanted to back up my phone so I chose the option in modmanager which looked to be doing the backup just fine for 5 or so minutes until it rebooted ... now it won't stop rebooting

I can get the phone to boot to the HBoot screen (I think it's called that) by holding down the volume rocker so is there anyway I could sort this out from there ?

And yes, I do feel like a missive vagina since it is only hours old and I think I've broken it .

I went into Clcokwork mod backup and restore. There was a restore pint there so I selected to restore it ... seems to moving files as I type ... please work :(

Edit: It worked ... bit of a brown trouser moment there!.

you could have flashed a new rom onto it anyway via clockwork if needs be. :)

I've been reading like mad after that little moment i had and you are very correct. However it does look like I will need to get myself a card reader for emergencies in the future in order to get roms onto the card with a borked phone.

Chaps, could one of you point me in the right direction for this please?

I've got a PV4 Desire, which has been rooted and S-OFF'd and is running the LeeDroid ROM. I'm about to sell it, so I want to put the stock HTC ROM on there to debrand and ensure that if the buyer accepts the OTA update it's not going to hose the phone.

Done a bit of reading, and as it was an Orange phone previously as branded I think I need a gold card to flash the official RUU. Is this the case?

Also, I bought an unlock code for the phone to carrier unlock I presume this will persist despite my RUU application?

Cheers in advance.

I'm avoiding LeeDroid 3.03 for now since it doesn't seem production ready as it were. I'm not entirely happy with having to upgrade Hboot in order to use these gingerbread roms so hopefully he will sort it so it can install with hboot 0.75 which is what i have.

Well in the end I succumbed to temptation and went for it. Alpharev S-Off and Hboot upgrade was dead easy and installing LD 3.03 was a breeze too. It's smoother than Froyo and that itself wasn't slow....

Guys I seems to have filled the phones inbuilt storage, but for the life of me cannot find any programs that I haven't moved to memory card.
The obvious ones that cannot be moved like contacts and flash etc are there, but they cannot be taking up the whole 500meg.
Is there something I'm missing or a way to sort this?

I used to always have that problem, hovering around 15mb free on the phone until i flashed to LeeDroid 3 with A2SD+ partitioned my SD with an 512mb EXT3 partition and now ive got 130mb free on the phone with all my apps back in place.

Maybe look at alternative roms with A2SD+ support.

delete the contents of the /data/local/download folder using root explorer. It consumes a lot of space with market download apps, like a temp folder.

For those that don't know:

There is a new Flash Player update and also Android 2.3.4 (video calling and some bug fixes) coming out OTA in the next few weeks. Although apparently it's already been pushed to ASOP so people with CM7/Oxygen should get the updated version soon!

Not sure on what bug fixes are included however.

Is there a common problem with Desires rebooting randomly? My girlfriends seems to do it quite a bit, especially when its booting up, it just seems to keep on restarting.

I've just rooted it and installed the latest LeeDroid and radio to see if that will sort it but when I tried to start it up it kept rebooting. I had to pull the battery and leave it out for 10 minutes before it would start up properly. Once its up and running it seems fine although she said it has restarted a couple times when shes been browsing the internet..

Yep, sounds like the overheating failure, it's pretty common I've had it as well. You'll need to get it sent off to HTC to repair, as its usually a mainboard swap.

Does anyone have a link the stock Froyo rom for the Desire, selling it due to getting the SGS2 and want to get rid of root and set phone back to stock before getting rid.
