We have a surplus of midfielders. We should be getting rid of half of them.

Pienaar. Whatever possessed us to sign Pienaar I have no idea.

Kranjcar (regretfully)
Dos Santos (possibly)
Bentley
Jenas
O'Hara

Keane
Pavlyuchenko or Crouch

Gomes

If we could get rid of these and bring in replacements for the forwards and keeper, it'd be moving in the right direction. I'd have added Corluka, but Modric probably wouldn't be happy at us shipping out the other two Croats.

And if we weren't so loyal to fan favourites, Woodgate and King would probably be out the door too. Hopefully King can find some sort of coaching role.

Anyone you'd like to see come in?

Anyone you'd like to see come in?

I'd like to see the Falcao talk from last window and since then materialise into something, but after his performances in Europe, I doubt there are many clubs that aren't interested.

Midfield I think we have covered.

We could do with a replacement LB for Benoit. RB cover I think will be either Walker or Naughton as long as they aren't both loaned out again.

See I think you should look for a first choice LB Benoit doesn't impress me :/

Falcao would be good if it came off and wasn't a silly fee, but as you say he's done really well in Europe so might be of City transfer money now.

Also, Would you not cash in on one of your "better" players? to pad out and improve the squad?

BAE always has the hint of a mistake about him, but he is probably the most improved player in the squad. If you were to watch him week in, week out, you'd see just how good a job he does and with bags on confidence (hence the occasional mistake. :p) I think he was voted our most improved player back in 08-09 :p

I can't think of a "better" player that I'd see sold for extra spending cash. I certainly don't want to see the likes of Modric or Lennon sold.

Who do you think will make way if you sign him, Valencia or Nani?

as stated else where we need more than two wingers (especially as both of them are best on the right) - plus Sanchez is decent centrally also

Plus IF there is any fact in the article in the first place I wouldnt be surprised if it had some connection to the rumour that Inter want Nani in any potential Sneijder deal

There is also the possibility that Rooney will be deployed in seasons to come in a more deep laying position similar to that which Sneijder takes up , so this becomes a non issue anyway (and potentially Sanchez is effectively swapped for Berba who looks likely to leave to somewhere else), which kills off two issues with one stone (ie getting Rooney much more central for the team, and not requiring a Scholes replacement as such) , so Utd may just go for a more defensive or box to box midfielder ....as well as a gk....and Given has started cropping up again in this regard

If it has any basis in reality, then it is:

a) hilarious
b) a sign of Inter insecurity, who seem to be going for the indirect 'show the ambition for him' route rather than the traditional 'we're not selling' shut-the-door press statement that can backfire with the player himself, which is telling.

All of this assumes some gutter-rag hack didn't dream this up while driving into work on deadline day of course.

I hope everyone realises that its "only" a £30m transfer fee approx - and for headlines sake its his wages tacked on to make it to £80m (not that Utd would ever sanction a new signing on £190k /wk + anyway)

If discusssions have got that far I would be surprised if its even close to £150k a week (or a lot of current players may get a little peeved)

More news.

The Daily Mail reports that the two clubs are in a £55 million summer transfer tussle over Sanchez and Internazionale playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

United have outlined an £18m offer to Udinese for Sanchez, weeks after City underlined their desire to sign the player who was a star at the World Cup.

Don't think £18mil would be enough to get him. Maybe £25-30mil? Was hoping chelsea would make a move - we could really do with a winger who can play on the right.

Would love Sanchez at City but not Sneijder. Mancini is signing young players for the future so i cant see Sneijder. I would prefer someone like Sahin/Goetze but Sahin i think i read is going Madrid.

Then of course there is the possibility of a deal with Real including Tevez and Adebayor. They may throw in Benzema, Canales, Kaka etc.

Blackburn have made a bid for Pa**** Cisse from Freiburg.

edit--->

haha, stupid filter. Pap-iss without the - :D
