Osama bin Laden is dead - no graphic/violent images.

So it seems.

Whether Osama Bin Laden was armed personally or not doesn't specifically decide the threat level of an operation.

(As an example)

His house could be rigged to blow and he has a small detonator with him, is that what you mean?

Shall we have a whip round and buy arknor a dictionary? :)

Because a single target is unarmed doesn't mean that the overall threat level is low.

well it was clearly him and his wife...

neither were armed im sure they would have realised this very quickly, i imagine a flashbang entered the room before anyone else did giving them time to assess the situation before taking action..

obviously im some jihadist osama loving british muslim because i would have liked to see a terrorist figurehead captured alive.

i never said he should have been given a fair trial or a bag of haribos....

you pretty much incinuated i am some retard because i dont use grammar and therefore whatever i say doesnt matter.

seems like you all just skip my post anyway becasuse you claim im suportive of osama yet non of my posts are...
still waiting for you or tefal to show where i have been suported of osama?

no point discussing anything then lets just closeb the thread

/thread teaboy5 has the final say

:mad::rolleyes::o:(:confused::eek:

We can't be sure who was armed because at the minute there are different versions of the vents being reported.
i'd say this guy was pretty reliable when he says osama was unarmed
James "Jay" Carney (born May 22, 1965) is an American journalist and President Barack Obama's second White House Press Secretary.

The White House Press Secretary is a senior White House official whose primary responsibility is to act as spokesperson for the government administration.

True, Depending on what you read either no one saw or heard anything until it was too late except some bloke in his bedroom on Twitter or there was people on the rooftops waving RPG`s about.

But if it wasnt for all these different reports we wouldnt be able to have a 50 odd page discussion about it. ;) (Edit: 60 odd page now!)

Im worried that people are getting too bogged down in the morals and politics of it all and taking it out of context. It was a clinical and professional mission which resulted in the assassination of Osama bin Laden, leader of the worlds most dangerous terrorist organisation who alone have been responsible for the most heinous crimes. Most importantly, no civilians were killed and the US suffered no casualties. Furthermore, Osama was given a dignified Islamic burial.

Shouldn't we be looking to the future and worry on how to finish off Al Qaeda instead of debating the legality and morals of what's already been done?!

All I care about is that a man responsible for the death of thousands and potentially thousands more has been brought to justice one way or another.

....Or is it me being naive seeing things too much in black and white :D Just needed to rant after seeing a pathetic argument on the same subject on "Young Voters question time", David Starkey being arrogant as ever

That is a possible scenario, however, he was not the only potential threat on the compound, we do not know how the operation was set up, whether it was even logistically possible to detain and capture under the circumstances or any of a myriad of other possible reasons why he was shot and killed when he resisted capture.

I think some people think this was some kind of police action where they have time and logistics to negotiate terms etc, when in fact it was a 40 minute assault on an armed compound which in all likelihood involved nullifying any threat on a room by room grid pattern so when Osama resisted capture (as did his wife) then standard procedure would dictate putting him down immediately.

Whether he had a firearm or not is pretty irrelevant if he (as was reported) resisted capture, you do not need a gun to be dangerous or a threat.

It was not murder as Arknor calls it, he was an enemy combatant who was killed while resisting in an military operation.

Can you imagine the banter back in the helicopter on the way home? High-fives all round I reckon.

I bet the guy who popped Osama Bin Laden never pays for another drink in his life (when he's around the people who know he did it).

I'm sure Obama said it was a shoot on site order any way. As said it was a military operation, not some police thing.

Better of waiting a few days or early next week till we have all the proper press releases and not all the made up media hype.

primarily because hes a spokes person for the whitehouse ? and not a journalist making up stories for the dailymail?

What does it change though? Carney also said he resisted and you don't need to be armed to resist. He also said that he did not use people as human shields, but she did rush one of the seals and was shot in the leg. He also goes on to say that they met heavy resistance and firefights throughout the complex.

This is also a military operation and not some little police raid on a bunch of drug growers.

US had no problem leaking evidence of Sadam's death...

That's was George Bush decision !

Obama decision still undecided yet if he going to release a photo but he should brought osama bin laden back in usa justice of court because bin laden was unarmed shot dead (I don't believe this!!!!!! there is no way bin laden wouldn't give up his fight and there is no way bin laden live nearby the pakistan military academy just 800 yards away! Get real !

....and arknor would be on here posting with no punctuation whatsoever about how terrible it was they shot the guy and how it was all a horrible conspiracy dreamt up by the evil mainstream media. Honestly, he needs more capital letters and full stops and less tinfoil.

ROFL. :D
