** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

I'd like to think Spurs would keep them both on in coaching roles. That depends on them wanting to continue playing but I'm sure keeping them on a player / coach role would be a good move.

You wouldnt really have two defensive coaches who were broken players.

You certainly would want King as an example for amything *alegedly*

I think young players could be helped to develop their defensive work with King and Woodgate helping out as part of a team of defensive coaches.

Also, what is this *allegedly* you speak of? Email in trust ;)

If you look at the signings we tend to make (ie SAF signings) we wont touch De Rossi.

We will spend a summer bitching about how Rodwell and Young smack of a lack of ambition and were too much money. We will then win the league again and wonder what the fuss was about (Ask Valencia and the price we paid for him, if he doesnt confirm it as Carrick whom we bought after selling RVN).

Nothing to do with ambition. I just don't see Young and Rodwell as players that will develop and offer more than what we have.

It was also said that they didnt go for Suarez as they didnt think he could perform as a striker, which is ironic as he has scored the same number of league goals in his games as some of the spurs strikers have in the entire season.

Doesn't really mean anything though, all of Spurs strikers are **** :p

Okay maybe that's a little harsh on Crouch and Defoe has had an off season by his standards but it's clear that Spurs need a top class striker, whilst Suarez would have been a good signing I dont think he's exactly what they need, they need someone to lead the line more like Carroll imo

Fergie saying on MUTV that we hope to sign 2 or 3 players in the summer, not sure if one of those is in the keepers position though

Seems Welbeck & Diouf are very much in his plans for the first team as well

Berb/Owen must be going surely? Otherise Wellbeck/Diouf won't get a look in?

Why do people automatically assume players will make good coaches, they can do, MOST don't end up as good coaches though.

Its such an easy thing to say, King is massively over rated, as often are so many players out injured a lot, it becomes a case of remember the best games then think how games would have gone if he played at his best all the time instead of being injured.

Did Adam's, a catagorically better defender than King has ever looked, become the best defensive coach or manager in the world? Not even close, and this guy was a born leader on the pitch, and a ridiculously good defender.

A top 6 club should really have top of their game coaches for every role if they really want to be serious.

Should Spurs really have Sherwood and Ferdinand as their coaches as it is? Have the strikers all been on top form with ex player Ferdinand, with zero coaching ability, as their coach? Do they really want to have a vast array of ex players with no coaching ability on staff?

I find the throw away comment of "I hope they stay after and coach" ridiculous.

Again most players don't end up being good coaches, a huge number of the best managers around were fairly average or rubbish players....... completely different skill sets.

Diouf? He's scored a few for Blackburn but I haven't seen much of him, is he United class?

I think it's highly unlikely we'd sign De Rossi. It's just not a Fergie signing really, would be very out of character.

I'd imagine Diouf has a season in the reserves to look forward to tbh
Welbeck could well be 4th choice striker replacing Owen/challenging Berbatov for 3rd choice, personally I'd like Owen to stay, from what everyone inside the club have said he's been good to have in the dressing room and he doesn't seem bothered by his role at the club (probably just happy to be involved in a squad actually challenging for honours season in season out for the first time in his career)

Well they'll both sit on the bench just as well because I doubt Fergie would really use either of them.

I assume Macheda is going as he seems to have been **** in Italy.

Always thought De Rossi was a box to box player not unlike Keane or Hargreaves (although the latter was a bit more varied , playing in three or four different positions, the former probably the most important central midfielder in SAF's reign)

De Rossi is probably the kind of player Utd have missed most over the last 3 seasons

Cant see Owen or Berba staying (latter out of contract, and Berba doesnt want a single year ext which is all the club will offer - and I think the club will need to get some money back from the nigh on £31m spent on him originally)

Sneijder in one sense would be a fantastic addition, but in another I would be concerned about him occupying the same space Rooney does (and has done so excellently in recently). Utd desperately need to get more goals from central midfield, hopefully Cleverly will help with this in the long term but in the short term Utd need a more mature player (and one that can play majority of games, Giggs is fantastic in this role but will only play 1/2 or 1/3 of the games)

The appearances figure (180 odd) says it all really - but what do UTD fans think of Fletcher?

Not world class, but very simple and probably good. Seems to be liked (Scottish connection?). Always surprised that he's made it there.

He should, yeah. I'm sure he knows why he won't be offered a proper contract.

Ledders is a tough one. Hopefully he'll be offered the same.

Unless 1 of your other 4 senior CB's are leaving, I don't know why Spurs would keep either Woodgate or King. Not only the fact that they're never available and you have 4 other CB's but can you afford to keep them?

Levy's already spoke about trimming your squad and you can talk as much as you like about pay as you play etc etc but they're still going to be getting a basic wage of ~£30k per week.

Bassong has supposedly handed in a transfer request if rumours are to be believed.
