Why do you think Berbatov will go? I know he's not getting loads of game time at the moment, but I hadn't noticed any dissatisfaction from him about it. He seems happy to play the team game at the moment.

Spot on, I dont think he's ever quite settled in to being the main man at United so I reckon he's more than happy with his current role. I said in another thread that I suspect he'll have a similar role to that which Sheringham had next year.

Obviously his goal return wont be great and that will give his haters their ammunition again but I certainly dont see him leaving, I suspect we'll agree terms with him for a 2/3 year extension in the summer taking him up to 33.

I'd shoot myself if we were left with Defoe and Crouch as our only strikers. :p

True but I cant see who you're going to sign, Rossi would have been my guess but it seems he may be going to Barcelona, maybe Forlan??

Will be interesting to see who you get

Nah Defoe is just a **** Hernandez, wouldn't be any use to us really.

hernandez does look like a good prospect but it's a bit early to judge him properly. one injury and his form may never return. defoe is still a 20 league goals a season player i reckon, just can't see it happening at spurs with how vdv plays.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill insists this summer will be busier than ususal in the transfer market.

With Edwin van der Sar due to follow Gary Neville into retirement, Paul Scholes yet to confirm whether he will extend his career by a further season and major doubts hanging over senior figures such as Michael Owen, Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves, changes are inevitable at the Premier League champions.

It does appear youngsters Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley will be given their chance after impressing during loan spells with Sunderland and Wigan respectively.

However, Gill has given the clearest indication yet that United supporters can expect at least one big-name arrival, and the likelihood is there will be more.

"It probably will be slightly busier than normal," Gill told MUTV during the annual Manchester United players' awards ceremony at Old Trafford.

"Gary has retired already. Edwin is retiring and Paul has to decide what he wants to do.

"We have been working very hard over the course of the last 12 months to plan which positions we need to fill, identifying those players and trying to work on it.

"What Alex Ferguson has done very successfully for nearly 25 years is to reinvent the team slowly and integrate them within the established stars.

"That is what we will continue to do.

"It gives a buzz to everyone at the club when you bring in high quality players. It is something we look forward to with relish."

I know we've heard it all before from Gill but I might just believe him this time...

Thinking about it if Owen is available on a free transfer I could see I'm not a wheeler dealer I'm a ******* football manager Redknapp being in for him ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if spurs signed Sturridge. I really can't see him getting the kinds of first team assurances he will be seeking at chelsea and he strikes me as the sort of player redknapp would go for.

Am I really the only person who doesn't rate Gary Cahill high enough to play for a top 6 team? Some of the figures being touted for him are crazy.

Looks like we've beaten off competition from Real, Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd to sign some 15 year old lad from Ireland for around £2m.

Also, Aquilani's agent has said he still expects the move to Juve to go through.

He's as good if not better than what Arsenal, Spurs, ourselves have got and all City's cb's other than Kompany. It's only Utd and Chelsea that he wouldn't get into their first teams (although would be a good first change). Agree he's not worth the figures being touted about though and because of that, I'd rather go for somebody a bit younger like Jones from Blackburn (who looks class).

Sturridge is class, could easily start for anyone outside the top 4 imo.

Agree on Jones from B'burn looking rather handy / promising.

That's been done for a couple of months I think, sounds decent from what I've heard and 6'3 at 18

He's a cheaper option to Rodwell I'm hoping.

No idea why Wenger didn't go for him, young, French, gifted CB
