** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

I dont believe they ever did. If they did i think it was only after it was clear he was leaving or it was part of a package he would never accept.

If they had wanted him there was ample time for "Fergie Fergie" to "sign him up" and he chose not to. Its not a coincidence that we let him go despite the idea being we couldnt afford him.

I hated Tevez in his second season. He was angling for a move in the press in the exact same way he is doing now with City. Some of his statements (not in English obviously) were pish. I was chuffed when he left, tbh in the long run City will be better off without him. He was a symbol of of point they needed to make at the time to Utd. It didnt work.
My thinking exactly. We knew how much it would cost to buy him as we had agreed a fee with his advisor(s). We just decided not to. There was plenty of times and plenty of "Fergie sign him up" chants from the OT faithful.

Or a ****.
Yeah. :D I wanted to describe him in a way that would make through the forum's profanity filter. ;)

I tend to find four stars does the trick regardless. Its probably not the word you mean but the reader will usually imagine a worse one! :D

Its hard to be a United fan hating Tevez without being accused of being bitter because he went to City but when he said "its difficult" when asked about staying days before a CL final that was the final nail. Dont get me started on "the old man doesnt know what to do with me" and, if he plays - "im tired" and if he doesnt - "no one loves me".

At the time he was sold he a) was nowhere near as good as he became at City and b) was too similar to Rooney in a Ronaldo-less team, so spending £25m and making him the most expensive player (3rd choice) in Britain made no sense at the time. Football wise you cant argue with what he did at City but they will suss out his character soon enough if they havent already.

I thought we only ever offered £25m when we agreed the two year loan deal?

You agreed the option when you initially loaned him and the club admitted you took up the option but Tevez rejected:

"Following contact received from Carlos Tevez's advisers last night, in advance of the deadline the club set for concluding negotiations, Manchester United announces that Carlos will not be signing a new contract with the club," said a statement released by United this morning. "The club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5m and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest-paid players.

"Disappointingly, however, his advisers informed the club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the club's most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United. The club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."

This is what I meant by my statement Cas, I wasn't being sarcastic but whilst Tevez is an excellent player he is just way too much trouble. Utd didn't want him and it seems that City either don't know how to handle him or don't handle him the way he wants to be handled and he's off for another club.

I agree that he's a complete ****. But your post read in a way that they were glad to be shut of him because he wasn't good enough/worth having. Probably the way I read it though. Hey-ho. :)

It flies in the face of every vibe coming out of the club although i remember it being reported at the time. As i say i believe it was offered at a time when the deal with City had been offered and was done to appease the "Fergie Fergie sign him up" idiots who really should have had their voiceboxes removed after reading what Tevez was saying in the press.

I didn't realise we actually offered him a deal.

No, I was't trying to say that he wasn't good enough or worth having. He was, and is, an excellent striker. I remember Fergie/Gill saying there were better options for less money than Tevez would have cost. I.e. they could have bought someone for £15m and saved £10m.

I think now I would be surprised if Fergie feels vindicated in not having actually signed Tevez on a permanent deal. :p

Of course he does!

Tevez made NO sense at the time.

We got him for 2 years for a £10m "loan fee", check his life-span at every club he has played for........

Looking back if you could transpose his City goals into our team it would be great but thats not football is it?

As of today would you take Hernandez and his attitude with us or Tevez and his attitude with City? By hook or by crook that the situation we are in now!

Owen? Michael "Oops there goes my hamstring. Again" Owen? Michael "one game in two hundred minutes of league football" Owen? Really?

Yeah, that one.
Since Jeffers left we've been missing the 'fox in the box', Owen has great positioning. I get really frustrated seeing attacks that fizzle out because we don't always have players making runs into dangerous areas. Plus he has the right passport and will have got accustomed to a 'pay as you play' deal at MU. His experience could come in handy, and I just rate him above Bendtner as a striker.

He has been unlucky at United (still not sure whether saying "us" is acceptable?!) When he plays he scores. Had Hernadez not exploded onto the scene and Berbatov not scored so frequently i think the plan was for Owen to play a lot more. I would keep him at Utd but if he wants to stay with us that should be reason enough to let him go, if that makes sense? He deserves to play more now.

Well think about it cos in a year or two the UK press will be offering up Hernandez to the Spanish clubs just like they did with Ronaldo!

On the plus side Tevez will be doing very well in the Egyptian league as its "closer to his family" who still live in Argentina......
I would hope we keep Hernandez for a little longer than that. :)

I've heard rumours that Tevez will go to Australia. It starts with an A so that'll keep him happy. :D

Tevez has "a dream" to play for Boca "next" according to his latest "interview" to be near his children.

however "200K" and "a week" didnt seem to feature much....

Id rather play with 10 men than have that oxygen thief even comment on us again!

If he wants to be closer to his kids i'll kidnap them and hold them hostage in Barnsley. Lets see how that goes.....

I would like to see Obertan given another go either in the First Team are more likley out on Loan.

Cause I have just watched a few Reserves games on youtube and he has shown some good skill and has scored everyone I have watched so far.

Just wish Anderson and Obertan could do this every game:

Cant see Bebe or Obertan making it somehow - Im not sure how the Reserves league is ever a good judge of skill with players already in their 20's

Its great to get match fitness, and its great for U18 players without doubt (or maybe for 6 months for a young foreign player to get used to EPL refs etc) but for extended periods I really dont think it does much

I know Bebe's only been at the club a season, but he has done so little he cant be that impressive in training / reserve games (apart from the odd highlight), and while Obertan was injured for majority of his first season at Utd, is this the end of his 2nd or 3rd season with the club, pretty shocking whichever it is imo

Give chances to Pogba, King and Tunnicliffe etc before those two (not sure about Morrison, I know he is meant to be an amazing player but he also sounds like a bit of a bad seed otherwise, repeatedly getting in trouble with the police)

For anyone to judge Bebe so early is madness. The lad has come from hardly playing professional football to Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, it's going to be a long curve and SAF has always said that.

I think after blowing 7 million quid on a player he hasnt seen, then realising he is a complete chump Fergie will say anything to deflect attention away from the situation.
