The link i sent was for the bundle which is the tablet and the keyboard dock in on box. The keyboard is set to retail for 100quid or so, maybe your impatience did win you over but nvm.

Dang, shame I can't take advantage of the offer Asus were doing for the super early adopters. If the link is for the bundle I'll save you the effort. Thanks anyway though. I'll see if I can find the keyboard dock a bit cheaper somewhere.

Loving the device atm. Really swish. Trying my hardest to fill it up with useless apps now :P

Tried it on my device, in both browser for Opera, and the YouTube application.

It seems that 720p stutters ever so slightly, enough to get on my nerves anyhow, hopefully the 3.1 update in june will solve this issue as Tegra2 is supposed to play 1080p natively, depending on the video format that is.

Im not too bothered about YouTube as of yet, for my circumstances and use anyway, so i tend to browse the newspaper apps and CNN looking at the news.

More than 110 people killed in the Joplin, Missouri Tornado which hit the city yesterday :(
 
The video thing does annoy me a little I mean come on, dual core hardcore Tegra and it can't play videos my single core phone can... Seems a bit of an oversight. Kind of annoyed it can't even play YouTube well.

I am however digging the 3D performance.

Yes yes yes :D

TBH though, 3.0 hasnt been out that long, and Asus seem to be struggling with stocks and having the update a month or so after most other 3.0 tablets, mainly the Xoom.

It would have made sense for it to be a sort of global 3.0-3.1 update :(
 
I think the xoom got 3.1 first because Google have kind of been pushing it as it was the first honeycomb tablet. Getting 3.1 some point in June is down with me.

Honestly am waiting on Tegra 3, that will be something else!

Yes :) quad core I believe :D soon be as powerful as mid range laptops.
 
Youtube playback on this is pretty woeful to be honest, hopefully an updated 3.1 ROM from Asus will resolve this.

I'm running netarchy's Kernel which allows overclocking now, have it at 1.2GHz and it does seem a little snappier in the UI etc, but Youtube performance is still poor. I wish the youtube app had proper quality settings too - 360/480/720P etc.

Agreed. And for overclocking, ill be doing that, as well as root access and ad-blocking when the 3.1 update is out, so i dont have to do it again, barely have any free time at all, as i finish college on friday :D
 
Thanks, that youtube clip is a test of the cpus media processing engine not video decode (no hardware acceleration for flash yet, it would've been perfect otherwise :) I think it's single core only too)
nVidia decided to leave the neon mpe out (reduces cpu core by 30%) as they thought it wouldn't be used enough, noobs :D At least they added it for tegra 3... Qualcomm did the opposite with snapdragon and gave it a very powerful unit (thats why an original desire can play that clip really well)
I don't think it effects that much else though.
 
Yeah, the more I read about the capabilities of Tegra2 the more I think they’re wide of the mark with this chip.
To be honest I think google would do well to have an upper tier of certification that the chipsets have to meet. At the moment all devices need to pass their certification test so the device can ship with Google’s apps (Gmail, Market etc). They need another one for the hardware so devices can call themselves “Android HD” or whatever.
The situation in the Market is a mess at the moment, no way to tell if an app is tablet optimised and too many “THD” games that won’t play on similarly capable hardware…

Yeah I bought my wife a Xoom and she is really loving it, I myself am waiting for a tablet that uses Tegra 3. I just think the Tegra2 chip isn't quite what it should be in terms of HD video playback.

Tegra3's not going to show it's face till August at the earliest and the devices won't filter through for another few months at least. The way I figure it is that I'll get a good 6 months use out of this at least and still be able to sell it on to heavily subsidise an upgrade assuming something comes along that is as versatile.

Depends where you ordered it from really, if it was from the Meteorite store then it will most likely arrive :) As i would think it of being in unethical of them to accept your order without stock :)

They did me, I picked a delivery date and everything - yet they didn't have stock and called me a couple of days before delivery telling me they weren't getting stock for another 10+ days.
