Thats as maybe, but the same could be said of Odemwingie, at 29 years of age, one could argue that if he was really any good he would have moved to the right places before being almost 30, and yet he has been one of the standout signings of the year imo. Perhaps Honda would come and not be any good, perhaps he would come and be fantastic, theres only one way to know and thats for him to be signed :)

(he is the same age of course as Vidic was when he moved to the right places, I'd wager not many had heard of vidic either before he came)

Nope, thats it I'm afraid. Ultimately a player can be an absolute world footballing superstar, but that doesnt mean they will succeed in the EPL. We've seen fantastic footballers flop before in the EPL (Forlan for example). Likewise players which seem like nothing special in weaker leagues can go on to succeed immensely in the EPL (Hyppia for example). At the end of the day, there is no defining attribute which guarantees that someone will succeed in the EPL, equally there is no defining attribute which guarantees that a player will fail in the EPL. All a team can do is look at a player, decide whether he looks like he might offer something the team is lacking (I think Honda definitely looks that way in our case) and see what happens. I'd be pretty darned happy if we signed Honda, over time that happiness might bear fruition , as the signing of Suarez appears to have (coming from a weak dutch league and on the basis of brilliance at WCs) then again over time that happiness might lead to disappointment. Only time would tell. :)
 
Blackpool and Holloway (who gets a small % of the fee's) should have cashed him in at January.

Was there not clubs bidding ~ 14 million? Stupid to turn that down for him to go for less this summer.
 
Not sure about others but Liverpool only bid up to £8m for Adam which is about right. He's a reasonable player and would be a handy squad player.
 
I thought Spurs had a bid of around 14 million rejected or something at the very last minute?

Anyway, I think he'd be nothing more then a squad player for a top 5/6 side. He said in an interview (iirc) that he wants to play at as higher level as he can (which I suppose is natural for any ambitious footballer) so it came across to me as he's happy to jump to a bigger ship, just makes you cringe a little when he grabs his badge and such.

Dont know what to make of that, its hilarious that people would make that crap up.
Would be even more lol worthy if its true.

Im sure Cleverley is a central option, but he wont go straight into the fire (even after the good experience he got at Wigan) - he will get a few sub apps and maybe some CC starts to see how he does, but a more experienced AM is still vital imo (even without considering likely injuries, and general rest / rotation

It looks like we are losing at least two CM's (Scholes and Hargreaves) from the wage bill, and while one hasnt played at all - Glazers / SAF surely cant be replacing one fo the best passers in the EPL with a youngster (I hope not anyway)

SAF himself said (admittedly with a bit of sarcasm) that Adam was worth £10m for his freekicks / corners alone - and considering how badly Utd need a decent dead ball player £10m would be a small price to pay imo

Admittedly I dont know who is better dead-ball wise, Ashley Young or CA, but its not that big a reach to pay for the 2nd one as well (unless AY costs a fortune of course)

Whilst we all know Twitter sucks for this stuff that best not be true, He can stay well away from Liverpool he doesn't deserve to be in our team in the slightest!

It doesnt matter who is better dead ball wise because you have to bring more to the first XI than a free kick and corner. We NEED a dead ball player but only if he happens to be top class at enough aspects of the rest of the game to justify his place in the team.

Adam at around £5m is worth taking a chance on just incase. £9m+ is just crazy.
