Newcastle

Remember the international attacking midfielder pardew said they where bout to sign last week but dint want to say who incase other clubs came in Sunday sun is saying it's Yeoman Cabaye of Lille for 5 million due to a release clauses ^^. already agree terms with Newcastle.

If it is true good bit of business and a better option that Steven Ireland. Two good season with Lille and breaking into the french team

Also could bid well for us grabbing one of their frontmen

I wont be. The entire mentality of the club is shot to bits. They could sign the entire Barca squad and i would still back then to finish 2nd at best.

lol, it's a bit sad but it's probably true. We just need to win something, it could be the FA cup, CC or even the Premier/Champions League - we just need something to increase morale and kick start our inevitable trophy surplus  :D

I tend to agree except you had that very scenario this season - a cup final against a poor team who ended up getting relegated. You dont need me to tell you how that ended but it was the best chance you could ask for.

Do any of Fletcher, Carrick or Anderson carry the same goal threat or even range of passing in the final 3rd as Adam does? I don't think so.

Anderson certainly does. It's true he's a very inconsistent player and when he plays poorly, he plays really poorly. But on his day he's a fantastic player

Insightful.

I genuinely think its got to the stage where its going beyond the actual players on the pitch.

For example when was the last time an Arsenal player was out with an injury who returned on schedule?

You did deserve it, if we had the whole barca squad we would only play Messi against you. I think we know who would win :p

We have had these issues with injuries since moving grounds. Maybe the new training ground? Either that or we stole all of Spurs medical staff.

Wenger had the chance this season to spend big. This is the first season I can remember since he took over that we have kept all our best players in the summer. This was the season in which we made it clear to Fab that we were serious. Instead we end up with a couple of gamble signings again.

Now the rumour is he is going to spend (Can't see it happening) and we will end up losing Fab and maybe Narsi and be worse off for it.

I never thought Fab would go last season but I do this summer. I don't blame him either and with Barca looking so good he can go and collect his trophies without much effort next season.

The whole Fabregas thing is odd. You will never get anywhere near what he is worth. If Barca bid £20m what happens? You turn it down and then........?

Barca dont NEED him and he doesnt want to go anywhere else so it becomes awkward. Barca wont (and really cant) pay top money so you either keep an unhappy player (who has been less than effective this season) or you sell for less than he would be worth if there were two or three clubs bidding.

The injury thing is interesting though. Every single injury at Arsenal takes longer to heal than it should. Did Eduardo not go home for treatment rather than take it from Arsenal? Could be wrong on that one. Vermealen was due back in a few weeks at the start of the season and ended up not playing at all.

Wenger has a terrible record when it comes to spending big so while i understand fans crying out for it i would question whether its a good idea. ComparetheArshavin was the last BIG signing and he has been turned into a bit part player. Richard Wright, Franny Jefferes, Reyes, Wiltord etc have always been outshone by the half mil on Anelka or the likes of Vieira.

The point being no-one other than Barca are really in the running.

City could bid but he wont go.

Therefore Barca can throw in another "take it or leave it" bid safe in the knowledge that he wont go elsewhere.

Yeah I can see it going like this...

Barca: £20m?
Arsenal: No
Barca: £24m?
Arsenal: NO go away
Barca: Hey there Fab how you doing, how many trophies you won lately
Barca: £26m
Fab: Yes they will take it

And that is probably fair enough TBH. He is not Beckham or Ronaldo in the marketing stakes and given his love for Barca you would question the value of the sell-on.

He is probably worth about £40m to Arsenal but that is meaningless as no-one is buying at that price.

I think if Arsenal make some good, solid signings he will hang about for another season. But if they don't look to bring in the right players, he will be off, and I don't think anyone could blame him.

lol, Anderson at his best is a corner flag threat, or that guy on the upper tier, Anderson isn't remotely a constant goal threat, even in his best games he rarely scores.

2 goals in the league since he joined Utd, over 4 seasons, and around 45 games or so, massive goal threat. Adam, one season 12 goals.

Barca are rich, they are owed hundreds of millions, the loan they took out was because the hundreds of millions haven't been paid, when that cheque comes through expect them to be laughing. To "pay off" the loan they got shirt sponsorship for the first time, at basically the entire value of the loan.

Secondly, they do need Cesc, Iniesta simply isn't as good as Cesc and Xavi while brilliant is 31 and playing, because of generally long runs in Cl and for Spain , 55-70 games a season at the moment. Its fairly likely he'll be slowing down pretty soon with the manager giving him more games off.

Barca don't really have anyone waiting in the wings to take over from Xavi.

Samba and Falcao, whats the point, defense, every defender we've brought in has essentially been a much better player BEFORE they joined, being good at Blackburn doesn't mean he'll play well in a defence with major problems. Falcao, can't see it unless Wenger gets over his scared mentality and moves back to 4-4-2, which I don't see happening.

If we bought a very expensive huge name signing, I'd suggest its more likely to replace RVP than go with him.

How many seasons has RVP, along with Cesc and a bunch of others been persauded to play one more season with promises from Wenger of changes and investment.
