Berbatov + 10 mill :o . No thanks Utd can keep him. It would have to be big money to persuade Levy to sell Modric, he is on a long contact and I think Modric will "stick it out" for another year to see if we can break into the top four again.

Money on top of berbatov? You crazy?

Read rumours that United are in talks over A. Young / Rodwell / De Gea (that's all done though) / Varane. Fergie is also really pleased with the youth players Pogba, Morrison and Tunnicliffe, will have Cleverly back from Wigan as well.

Modric and Bale rumours are still floating about but Spurs wouldn't want to sell.

Also, hearing Gibson / Brown / Bebe / Obertan and PIG are on there way.

Just had a little thought. Yesterday (Saturday) pep guardiola said he's only likely to be manager of barca for one more season before he moves on to find a new challenge.

He's just saying that, no one will walk away from that team. He is just making out he's leaving so they massively extend his contract and wage.

Anderson certainly does. It's true he's a very inconsistent player and when he plays poorly, he plays really poorly. But on his day he's a fantastic player

I personally think Anderson's a bit **** but that's just my opinion. I'm not sure how anybody can call a player that's managed 5 goals in 129 games a goal threat though :o

Anderson is a attacking midfielder, he is one dimensional in that is all that he really is.

His problem at United is Fergie has been trying to make him into a defensive midfield player, he very rarely has license to get forward, is quite often given man marking roles when he does come on and he just isnt very good at it.
The 4 or 5 games out of those 139 he has actually been allowed to get forward and pull the strings further up the pitch he has been quite good.

just fine? are you sure? if anyone needed modric, it was united on saturday

You mean the Modric who completely vanished in both games against Real Madrid?
THAT Modric?

Yeah because when it really mattered he turned up didnt he?
Not.

The same Modric who in three seasons against United has failed to have any impact what so ever against the Midfielders he is supposed to be so much better than?

His 12 goals in 118 apps in a free scoring Spurs side isnt exactly inspiring either.

Spurs can keep him, we already have a player who can keep the side ticking over just fine, what united need is power, speed and a direct goal threat either in direct assists or actual goal return in the middle of the park.
He is almost entirely the opposite of what United need, being neither strong, good in the tackle, or a player that turns up in the big matches, or a player with a good goal return, or a player that sets up any goals.

oh right ok. we'll see what ferguson bids in the summer

Thats not the point is it?

Berbatov wasnt what the side needed and for 2 and half of the three years he has been at united that has been entirely the case.

Now it looks to all intents and purposes he is off because he isnt what the side needed.

Signing Modric would again be fixing problems the team doesnt have unless Spurs are not playing him in best role so he has something more to offer.

so carrick isn't a problem?

So.......... Fergie gives carrick a new 4 year contract to then 3 months later spend millions on replacing him with a player that does exactly the same thing?

Carrick for all his faults has been the best midfielder united has this year, the overall weakness of the players around him in some of the more physical games has left him being over run at times, particularly against City in the FA cup and against Barcelona, but thats not his fault.
Modric would have done no better and cost us 30 odd million for the privilege.

This is why we need to buy Sneijder.

Brilliant vision, excellent in front of goal and he can also take a free kick or two :).
