Michael Owen has signed a one year extension with United.

Good to see him staying on; I didn't think he would be going anywhere and he's been a nice chap throughout the season and in interviews.

I think he can pass on some valuable experience and advice to some of the youngsters so it's all good.

Michael Owen's contract has been extended for a further year, in a deal that will see the forward complete a third season as a first-team player.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Michael has proved to be a top footballer. It’s unfortunate Michael didn’t get more opportunities but the form of Chicharito put everyone in the shade and his partnership with Rooney proved invaluable. I am delighted Michael is staying for a further year and we will look to give him more opportunities in the new season.”

Michael Owen said: “I’m delighted to have agreed a one-year extension to my contract. To play alongside so many great players, under an exceptional manager, and in front of so many incredibly passionate supporters, is a real inspiration. I can’t wait for next season to start."

Any body with the latest about Aquillani and our former young LB(Insua). Are they returning to us next season or not? How did they perform while on loan?

Not too fussed about Aquilani, think I would rather have the money for him. Would love Insua back though. However, I personally think both will be sold.

I'm actually surprised about that, considering how sparely we used him last year and that we have two strikers coming back from loan I thought we might have let him go. I expect one of Welbeck and Macheda will be going then (whether on loan or not I don't know)

looks like BA had a get out clause in his contract...contract terminated at west ham, free to choose where he goes?

Tbh haven't seen any of Aqua at juve, but torwards the tail end last year I thought he was coming good. (mainly that orgasmic move against Athleti or Benfica was it :p?)
I'd rather him than Barton.

Not surprised in the slightest here, Fergie values him for experience most likely.

I don't think Macheda will last the summer however, he has had a poor time on loan and when Fergie has spoke about youngsters and especially strikers coming up through Macheda is never mentioned in his plans.

He's had a stinking attitude on loan at Sampdoria as well I think.

I think if we try to get cash for him we will make a bigger loss coz i don't see him fetching anything near to what we paid. I think with the likes of mmmmm is it pauslen and JS's age, SG's Injuries etc i think our midfield is to thin. i would prefer having Aqua back to selling him cheaply and spending much on his replacement who may not be better.

tbh apart from Lucas i don't think we have any other midfielder capable of playing week in week out. Age, Injuries and poor form visit them more often than not.

I believe Insua's contract is up this summer so it's very likely that he'll be off. There's a lot of talk from Dalglish about bringing Aquilani back (which I'd like) but I suspect it's just brinkmanship from us as Juve are trying to negotiate down the price.

Aquilani had a great first half to the season at Juve but like the team as a whole, fizzled out in the 2nd half. Similar story with Insua; mid season there was a change of manager and he found his chances in the first team limited as Hagi doesn't believe in loaned players.

Forget Welbeck and Macheda, this has got to put Berbatov's future in even greater doubt. If Taggart's talking about giving him even more chances in the side next season and the likelihood of Welbeck coming back from a loan spell, somebody is going to have to make way and it's not going to be Rooney or Hernandez.

I don't think Berbatov will be off this season either really.

Owen doesn't have enough about him to replace Berbatov and I'm not sure Welbeck is ready to do that role either.

I think Hernandez and Rooney will be the most favored partnership but I think Berbatov will still be around for at least another season for some of other strikers to perhaps mature or maybe bring in a new one if they aren't developing as expected.

You say that like you think Michael Owen cares about anything other than collecting his paycheck and getting the minimum number of games possible to get himself a league winner's medal?

Nick Bentdner to Bayern in a £12m move according to The Mirror (lol). Would love it if that's true. Useful money for a guy that has already indicated he's ready to move on.

We badly need Denilson to get his skates on and leave. Same with Diaby if possible and Rosicky, Almunia etc. etc.

Much chatter about Nasri to City on your boards? Seems to be gathering a bit of pace on ours.

If you put together a decent offer I imagine and slightly hope it probably will go ahead. We'd rather cash in now rather than let him walk for free in a year's time.

Nasri peaked for us earlier this season and last year I'm not sure if there's better to come.

I don't go to Arsenal boards if I'm honest all the football I get is from here bizarrely enough. :p
