I dont think so, Harry has said "It is good to have three such experienced top goalkeepers at the Club in Gomes, Carlo and now Brad and it means we have competition for places particularly with the number of games we will hopefully face next year both domestically and in Europe as well."

Would indicate he wants to keep all three and switch them around a bit. But what he says and what he does are too completely different things.

Daily Mail today saying Liverpool are going to spend their money almost entirely on young English players.

It's looking increasingly likely we'll shell out ~£30m to get Jordan Henderson and Phil Jones. James McCarthy of Wigan is another £10m rated name we're heavily linked with.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Young, Jones, Henderson and a good LB, but I think quite a few Liverpool fans are in full-on Football Manager mode and will get mad if it isn't Aguero, Mata and Coentrao we sign.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if thats what Kenny does, I could foresee him buying a load of top young english talent and then 1 big name signing. Its a sensible long term idea imo, when you look at Utd and Arsenal and their strengths, Arsenal have shown that young players can be effective and Utd have shown the benefits of a group of young players "growing" together within a team (admittedly many of the Utd young players who grew together are now nearing the ends of their careers but there is something to be said for their achievements together).

I'm not overly bothered about the short term, would prefer a legacy to be built which can last rather than just an odd title once in a while. We already have a lot of young talent, if we can sign a few more 18-22 year olds and gel them together we would have a team which can last a decade.

I'm expecting 3-4 of the younger english players and then one big european name.

(and Honda :D )

Gomez is the worst and probably on the most wage so it'd make sense to lose him wouldn't it? Although then you have no long-term prospect at all...

Well Stipe has gone back to Croatia I think and we have always got Ben Alnwick we could sell of. It just seems all over crazy to buy Friedel. He's 40 and we already have two decent keepers IMO, who are 30 and 37 years old. Why would we sign a retiring keeper?
Van der Sar has retired at 40 and he was arguably the best keeper in the league. So why oh why would we sign Friedel?

EDIT: The only thing which makes me not angry about it is that it's a free transfer.

I'd say the time has come where you need to cut your losses on Gomes, I lost count at the amount of mistakes he made last season.

Made several mistakes yes. But did also make some blinding saves as well. He may not be the long term best plan, but at the moment I think at least he has the potential to be long term.

Why did we sign Friedel and not attempt to sign Ben Foster instead? That would have made more sense.

Hopefully Villa can rob Ben Foster off Birmingham now! I could only hope.

Given Foster's mentality I'd imagine he'll be more than willing to slum it in the Championship for a season or two with Birmingham tbh

Shay Given could go on season loan to Villa with a 24hr call back.

Gets him playing time at a team that is not a direct threat (shouldn't be) and we can recall at any time should we need to.

Daily Fail reporting that Wenger is weighing up a £4mill bid for WBA's Odemwingie...again just a rumour but its starting to grate on me that Wenger isnt going to spend big money on bringing world class players into Arsenal...Wenger yet again showing that he always takes the cheap option rather than spend some serious moolah on players.

Dont know much about Odemwingie tbh...is he any good??

£4m not too bad a price for him imo. Scored a bucket load of goals this season at WB (almost as many as Bent this year). Mind you, he will be 30 next season, unusual for Wenger to go for people that old isnt it?

redknapp strikes me as one of the people who buy all the nearly out of date stuff from a supermarket cos it makes him feel good

He'd literally spend all Romans money. I imagine he'd sign a player a day in the transfer market! AND, when he's all signed out he'd be more then happy to have whomever Roman bought for him :D
