** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

I was getting used to the idea of Fab leaving this summer but I wouldn't like Fab and Nasri to leave. Nasri can step into Fabs boots. Not as good but still a good replacement from our ranks. I think he plays so much better in that position too. Nasri's best performances were when Fab was out injured.

I just hope we don't see all the good players leave and we are stuck with the ones that let us down week in week out.

Not a promising start to the summer. :(

DO you remember the end of the season with Fab injured, and the previous time Fab was injured, when Nasri played in that role and was absolutely shockingly useless.

Nasri played FAR more games in the middle in the second half of the season than the first half. Look through the games, Nasri scored 2 goals in one game early season before Cesc was back from injury, that was in a game we lost, largely because Nasri couldn't pass to anyone else on the team and the team were rubbish, at home, to West Brom.

I would hardly call that proof he's better in the middle. Most of his goals and best performances came when he started wide, but he didn't really play wide, but more as a second striker, the majority of his goals being when someone fed him the ball either behind the defence or as he was running in behind the defence. Yay, he scored more goals than normal, playing as a second striker, that shouldn't be surprising.

Nasri can not in any way step in for Fabregas.

If any club can bring the most out of Young, United can... but still this is far from what most Manjoo fans were hoping for from Fergie's cheque book in the past two years.

The OCUK transfer window 2008 thread says otherwise.

In fact I think in every summer transfer window thread a whole load of united fans have wanted Ashley Young at United.

He is easily better than Valencia on the right, and miles better than Park and Nani on the left, why wouldnt we want him?
The fact that if needed he can competently operate as a decent attacking midfielder is a bonus.

JimBoardman: Spanish radio say they'll talk to a Spanish player at 8.30CET who's had an offer from #LFC and will 'probably' be at Anfield within a month.

yeah yeah, twitter ;) posted it anyway because we'l find out at 8.30CET if the radio station were talking crap.

Sanchez set to sign for Barcelona according to the Spanish press, they're not really giving anyone else a chance are they :(

Can't blame the players really. Good weather, beautiful women, lower taxes and a more relaxed pace of life. I wonder why any footballer comes over here.

That tax thing doesn't exist any more I don't think.

****ing Spain. "Hey, lets sign everyone half decent for our 2 horse race" :o

Welcome to the permanent world of being an Arsenal fan. No Modric, Dzeko, Torres or erm, Carroll for us.

"Richard__Buxton Richard Buxton

General consensus is that Valencia winger Juan Mata is the player Cadena SER will reveal tonight that #LFC could be on the verge of signing."

Looks like I'm not the only one querying if it might be Mata.

The 23% tax loop doesn't exist anymore I don't think, but the normal tax is still lower than here I'm fairly sure, plus afaik generally cheaper housing, living, everything so you both get more money and save more aswell.

But its less about that, downtime in cool late night Barcelona, or London, its a non contest. Here its going out in chav city, nights out in Spain are just better, not been in quite a while though, maybe chavtastic culture has spread there aswell but in general everything else was just far more pleasant.

You'd pretty much need to have 5-10% lower tax here to even the score even a little bit.

If you get the same money here or in Spain, spanish lifestyle wins hands down, theres nothing the UK does better except run healthier clubs.

Spanish clubs, a huge number of them are in silly financial trouble, as is Spain itself in general.

Thing is, professionally, it would be boring to join Barca right now, win everything, always win everything, no competition really, how can you prove you were that great a footballer. Join Pool/Arsenal and drive the team to a champs league would mean a lot more than winning it again with Barca. Seems most footballers wouldn't give a toss about that though.

Oh, and theres that issue with being taxed in multiple countries, live in Spain, be a bigger star in spain than here, get loads of advertising contracts in spain but play in England and you'd be paying a lot of tax in both countries. Do it all in Spain, live, work, play, pay tax in one country only, Englands tax rules on money paid to you elsewhere are laughably stupid.

reading the telegraph earlier and apparently chelsea are more favourites to sign modric (if anyone's going to) as he is settled in london. o'hara to wolves for £5m was also mentioned too.

The problem with Spanish football is that there's a lot of late night games and a lot of games being scheduled at the last minute.

Players like knowing when they're going to be playing in advance and generally don't want to be playing at 10pm at night. That's why players like Torres continue to play in England.

Spain's an hour behind us. So they'll kick off on a Saturday night at 8:00pm local time.

The fixtures are just as thrown about over 2 or 3 days as ours really thanks to Sky or ESPN.

We have been on Verge of signing Mata for days now just pay what they ask and get it done! :D

We need a quality signing well a few tbh no disrespect to Downing/Henderson i mean we might not get them but if we do and we don't get what imo is quality special sighing like Suarez was it will make our current players question the transfer window again.

Typical new manager rumour:

Apparently Jol wants to sign Mounir El Hamdaoui from Ajax, and apparently fans want him gone too. Hamadaoui/Dembele were aaaweeesome at AZ. Bet theres no truth though.
