United are favourites for this one, unfortunately.
They offered literally 30% less then we did but offer 1 year loan back, with the possibility of a second year on loan there too depending on United's injury situation.

We wont be able to offer the same, so if i was a betting man i would say he's off to United.

#LFC had contacted Alain Migliaccio inquiring availability of client Samir Nasri, last night. Just to get on Arsene's nerves, surely?

That would annoy Wenger so much if true .. he must be pulling his hair out at the prospect of both Nasri and Cesc wanting away.

When did Sandro become in demand anyway? On the back of a few good performances (which possibly stand out because the better players, ie: Most your team) hadn't been performing for a while?

He started standing out when Spurs beat AC Milan 1-0 at the San Siro.

He's 22, a full Brazil international, 6'2", lightning quick and is now acclimatised to European football. Of course he's going to be in demand.

As soon as he learns some tactical discipline, he's going to be one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet.

If the deal is £20m straight up we have overpaid, but £13m plus N'Gog which has been mentioned doesn't seem like that bad of a deal to me.

LOL at the way you lot think of things, It's still a deal equating to 20m whichever way you look at it

Same as the Carrol deal, it's okay because we got 50m for Torres, you still spent 35m on him!!

35m for Carroll was too much, but as I must have said a thousand times on this forum, I can kind of understand it due to the situation (last hours of transfer window, english (which we all know whacks the price up) and with the seller knowing we have £50m. I didnt like the price, but I can see the reasons for it.

£20m outright for Henderson I wouldnt like, £13m in cash + £7 for Ngog I am content with as its no doubt more than we would get for Ngog in cash and effectively means its £13m for Henderson which I think is a decent deal.

Almost every club overpays for players now and then, yes..even mighty United, as such there are few who are in the position to be throwing stones from the confines of glass houses.

No because I value N'Gog at about £3m...

Ah but we only buy where there's value now ;)...... :(

That's it, we're done here lads. Set for the season now.

Dun dun dun !!!!
Ahh, the old "preliminary agreement". It's strange that they haven't signed Cesc already, given that I'm sure we'd apparently made one of these last year too.

To put things into perspective, adjusting for 'football inflation' even if we pay £20m cash for Henderson, it's still less than half what Utd paid for Carrick.

Sky reporting Henderson will actually cost Pool 16m valuing N'Gog at 4m

Not sure where the 13m price tag came from tbh

Liverpool are using a different method of assessing a players value. It will be interesting to watch over the next couple of years whether the 35m Andy Carrol & 20m Jordan Henderson deals still look poor value.

As a side note, how long did Real Madrid predict it would take them to recoup the 80 million purchase price for christiano Ronaldo, from marketing alone?

Didn't the whole Carroll/Torres thing work out as whatever NUFC wanted plus £15m = Torres. So that the £15m + Babel = Suarez?

£35m was too much for Carroll but working it out as Torres + Babel = Carroll + Suarez is easier on my mind!

Henry came out with something about us wanting Carroll + £15m from the whole Torres saga but I suspect that was just a way of justifying paying £35m on him. Had we signed Carroll for £25m, we'd have still demanded the full £50m for Torres that's for sure.

Something I've mentioned a lot on here recently but people have to take into account the age of the player you're signing when looking at the fee too. Spending £20m on a 20 year old is completely different to spending £20m on a 26 year old.
