yeh. i don't see why [TW]sponge was slated for not posting sources either when a lot of what is posted in this thread is from twitter feeds or the daily mail? this does have rumour in the thread title and that's all they'll ever be until the club confirms it but it makes for interesting reading until that happens ...... especially the part about crouch leaving

You can sign contracts and do medicals, the transfer won't actually get processed until that date though.

Transfers between English clubs can be processed now (from 1st June). It's transfers from Europe that can't be completed until 1st July.

The guardian article also mentions that we are trying to sign de bruyne who's a young winger. That sounds more like what we need (although it also says he would likely be loaned out in his first year!).

Seems like crap to me as Villa dont even have a manager.

The Shawcross to spurs rumours keep on surfacing. Pulis is keen on a few spurs players (bassong, Jenas, Palacios) but apparently any deal we try to make with them they always try to add shawcross in the deal.

Love Shawcross to bits he quality and im sure would be getting England caps if he was not a stoke player but any stoke fan will tell you Robert Huth is the real deal in that partnership and id let Shawcross go before i let Huth move.

Why any top 10 club would want Downing is bizarre.

The list of players supposedly being lined up now Daglish has his 'war chest' is so laughable it has to be made up.

He did well towards the back end of last season but if he buys half the distinctly average players he's being linked to then they really have got the wrong man to move liverpool back on to challenge.

Adams and Downing after chucking 35 million at the equivalent of a Kevin Phillips style one season wonder. Not a chance he's looking at those players for the figures quoted to bring 'quality' to the side.

I suspect the Jones stuff is bs. If Hargreaves can pass a Utd medical then anybody can.

Isn't it possible that they've toughened up the medical slightly since those players signed? It obviously doesn't help with the players they've already signed but maybe it'll prevent signing more players who are liable to leave Darren Anderton look like a model of health and consistency...

I've got no idea whether that has happened but it's a thought.

I'm not so sure, I think Henderson is a decent transfer, Suarez was certainly a decent transfer. Its far too early to be declaring Carroll a one season wonder (at least if you are being ojective about things and not just being a Dalglish/Liverpool basher). Wickham I'd be happy with for the right price, Downing I wouldnt want. I dont know who Adams is, but I would be happy with Adam. Dann I would be happy with.

I'm sorry, who's the £35m "Kevin Phillips style one season wonder"?

Phillips is the only Englishman to win the European Golden Boot with 30 in a season - is Carroll likely to do that? a "Michael Ricketts style one season wonder" would have been more apt.

I watched him plenty of times at Boro and he's average. He only ever looked slightly above average due to the dross around him. He certainly should never be mentioned in a liverpool side with aspirations of rebuilding a quality side to challenge.
