He was a trouble maker in the dressing room and caused enough rifts....sure he was a good goal scorer but getting rid of him was for the best of the team....replacing him with Ibra for the amount they paid was beyond stupidity though but it goes to show how desperate Barca were to get rid of Eto.

I don't think he's much of a trouble maker, the "trouble" he caused was YEARS before when he hated Ronaldinho, and the club rather backed Ronaldinho, for a year, before he got lazy, not very good, drank to much and ended up leaving. Eto'o felt rather let down by being dropped frequently during those times and wanted to leave because they picked Ronaldinho over him, when Ronaldinho left Eto'o had probably his best season ever at Barca, but he wanted out.

Frankly I think the Ibra fee was for two reasons neither having anything to do with how much they wanted to get rid of Eto'o, they wanted to APPEAR to be buying someone better, AND they wanted to match Real in spending, as they'd just chucked circa 200mil on players, but 80 mil on Ronaldo, which is just about where Eto'o+ Ibra deal ended up being worth.

Basically the price was for show, saving face, and trying to make out like they were upgrading rather than being forced to sell their best player.

Ibra had 16 goals in 23 starts in the league, 4 in 9 starts in the champs league, and about the same goals/game ratio as in Italy. But for 80mil they wanted 30 goals in 30 starts, because they are idiots.

They should have stuck with Ibra and recognised Messi as the new main goal scorer..... (Highlander accent) "their can be only one" .

They should stick with Villa, buying Rossi is just taking the pee.

inter have dross in their team?

sneijder, cambiasso, milito, pandev, maicon, lucio, zanetti, shall i keep going?

also i think rossi is coming in for more depth to squad and possibly to replace pedro. they have no real depth

Only dross, or dross? the later, they have some quality, and they have some poopy. Lucio out injured and Inter were pants in defence, their other starting CB missed most of the season, their 2nd string CB's are, honestly, completely pathetic.

Inter have a lot of quality, and a lot of not good enough players, a lot of their quality is basically on the edge of their retirement, Lucio this season vs 2 seasons ago is almost a different person(though still pretty damn good).

They aren't an attacking force, the Italian league isn't really setup to be one, what did Barca and real score, 95 and 102, Inter, 69. You'd simply expect the top scorer at Barca to get a LOT more than at Inter.

Only one of the players you mentioned got over 5 goals, Sneijder had a fairly poor year frankly, Pandev had a horrible season, Maicon offensively good, defensively he's very poor, Zanetti is on life support, Milito had a horrible season vs the year before, largely due to injury but also because the team was rather built for Milito the year before and really not at all this season.

So of your list I'd say, 2 had good seasons and the rest were significantly worse than the season before for various reasons. Other than the ones you mentioned a lot of the guys who stood in for injured players, were infact dross.

Also Barca have quite a lot of depth, people just don't see them play so assume they aren't any good, Barca have, well, Arsenal need to offer their medical/training team about a billion quid each to fix Arsenal. Maybe the least effected by injuries team, for a decade, of anyone, a guy got cancer this year and was back a few months later AND making Utd his "female dog", after a handful of appearances he was fantastic in that final. They don't need depth, we don't see their depth because of the lack of injuries and insane fitness, but they DO HAVE depth. They also have massive versatility, in both their system(throughout games their midfield moves all over the shop) and when people do get injured, Abidal is a great CB and left back, Mascherano can drop in as right back or CB and did so quite effectively, pretty much any of their attacking players can play any of the front 3 positions(and drift all over the place in every game).

So if Puyol gets injured they don't necessarily need a CB, they move Abidal across and put in their reserve left back, who did a fine job for the past 2 seasons whenever called on.

Rossi is a signing for the sake of, as before, making a show of being able to sign whoever they want, the whole president thing Real/Barca do, run campaigns and promise signings, running for election and promising stability, no signings and massive profits wouldn't go down well.

SSN have been reporting that United, City and Barca have all been in talks with Udinese today, rumour has it that City is the last club Sanchez wants to sign for

Well utd wont buy him as Young is on his way? and Barca want Rossi.

Not too fussed if we don't get him, he is a good player but i can't see him fitting in with the 10 other strikers we have along with the 10 other wingers.

TBF you've got a point, very exciting talent Sanchez is but I'd prefer us to been actively looking to sign a central midfielder rather than another winger who likes to play in Rooney's postion

Obviously Sanchez and said central midfielder are both welcome though

Another thing with Sanchez is that he is very small and not that strong from what i have seen so the Prem could be terrible for him and before you know it we have another Robinho etc whos only bothered v Chelsea etc

Try sell him again and he will be worth 15m or something which is all he is worth really anyways if proven players like Young etc are only 15m+ also.

Do we really need Sanchez though, especially now Young is pretty much certain, I think we should be looking at a couple of central midfielders.

Edit: De Gea, Jones, Young plus two central midfielders and I'll be happy.

I have no idea of the validity of the rumours , but this theory that Nani wants to leave aren't going away (if I've missed some denial today as I'm still at work then excuse me) - but I wouldn't bet against him leaving just yet if I were you.

Park has played wide a lot of the time but has never really been a winger, and due to his hard working nature could well be deployed in the middle (which is where he originally played for Utd wasn't it?)

Admittedly he is , if anything , a general cm rather than an AM or DM, although very hard working whether he is good enough centrally is another matter.

I have a feeling young is being bought with an eye for a central position at some point soon, probably not immediately though.

I would love a really big signing (esp if Nani does go) but I think SAF will go for more potential rather than proven ability

Just text my mate asking if he's going to be renewing his Aston Villa season ticket for next season after the latest.

AFAIK the only news whatsoever regarding Nani this summer has been

1- Juventus want him - probably rubbish
2- We will offer him to Inter as part of a deal for Sneijder - again probably rubbish
3- He would like to work under Mourinho one day

So nothing I've read suggests he wants to leave and nothing credible suggests we want to sell
