edit - just because X player leaves a club after being injured, doesnt mean SAF wont want to replace that type of player (as its been obvious that Utd have needed that kind of player available to them for years, now OH's wages have gone from the books the way could be totally clear to get a similar type back on the books). Between the number of games Scholes played and the fewer games Giggs will be able to play allows for at the very least a good youth prospect to come in (and be needed) No one is dominating enough cm wise at the club further up the pitch unless Rooney drops back further......which I dont think anyone at Utd or fans would want , I certainly dont

edit 2 - 33 apps across all comps for PS last season according to Stretford End or 25% of games roughly (majority as starter) given two CM spots per game usually

Thats true but, Hargreaves wasn't injured only in the last season, he's been at Utd for 4 seasons, I believe you were reigning champions when he signed, he only played a little more than half a season when you won the title the next season and you've won two more titles without him making any contribution at all.

So he really doesn't need replacing, he didn't make you winners, you won't fail to win anything without a direct replacement, and as I said, you'll essentially have the same 2 first choices who have played a lot more than Scholes over the past 4 years anyway, and Anderson, and Giggs, and Young, and then even the chance that Jones could play more as a DM. Theres plenty of options and without buying a direct replacement for Hargreaves, the team won't be in the slightest worse off than they've been for 3 seasons, in which they won two league titles.

I mean, don't get me wrong, if I was the manager and had unlimited funds I'd buy someone a damn sight better than Fletcher or Anderson, but with a limited amount of cash theres priorities and central midfield isn't even close to one of them. Giggs will barely play and could easily consider retiring before the season starts, Valencia isn't good enough, Bebe/egghead/park simply aren't good enough as backup.

The priorities will be direct replacements for retiring players who were actually starters, next priority will be improving the quality of the first team squad, last priority is improving the quality of the backup players.

So keeper is the most important, a starting winger, a replacement for berbatov(if he goes) would be next, defensive cover as you lose several defenders, then a central midfielder, and like I said, better to get the right guy for a sane price than buy Modric for £30mil +.

Sounds a bit like Torres! :D

THe only exception is Real, City, or Chelsea, hmm, if its a big name player those 3 clubs all like to make a show buy making big purchases as they think it makes the clubs look impressive, ignoring idiots, players decrease in value as their contracts go down, and price after a fantastic season will be lower than price after a worse season also with injury problems.

Keep in mind aswell that Wenger has a habit of preventing players going when they really want to, making a bunch of promises about one more year, we'll win something, sign a contract or stay and we'll sign people to prove our intentions, you can go next year if you really want....... which is generally the idea behind Henry/Vieira going so cheap.

Wenger's making promises he can't deliver on, to keep a player for another season then lose them for a lot less money than we could have had, you'd think he'd have learned.

Liverpool signing Cristian Zapata certainly seems to be gathering a lot of momentum today. Got to feel a bit sorry for Udinese, their team is being picked apart by other clubs this summer it seems.

I've never liked the completed passes stat - it skews massively in favour of DMs who play the ball backwards and sideways.

Also if talksport think I'm clicking 20 different pages they are mistaken.

Explains why song is there! Don't they at least have a forward passes stat?

what in the hell are stoke doing bidding 12 million for Scott Dann? I really really like Dann he is a quality player but surely if we are bidding 12 million on a CB then we are selling one of either Shawcross or Huth!

Shawcross/Huth partnership is probably one of the best Cb partnerships out side the top 5 or 6 teams imo (i actualy think its better than Arsenal's CB pairing , although vermalen is awsome)

28.6 - Cesc Fabregas created a scoring chance from open play more regularly (every 28.6 mins) than any player in top 5 leagues. Coveted.

60 - Cesc Fabregas has more assists in top 5 leagues in last 5 seasons than any other player, ahead of Dani Alves, Messi & Xavi. Happy.

¬_¬ Proper passing stats, that's playing next to some rubbish players and being injured all the time for 3 seasons (and not being Dani Alves who spends his games passing to Messi who promptly scores). Cesc
