Taarabt is a central attacking midfielder/second striker. He's a bit like Van der Vaart in that he's got no positional discipline though. He's one of those players who is constantly wanting the ball and doesn't care where on the pitch he's got to drift to receive it.

If he's smart, he'll stay at QPR. He won't get the freedom that he craves at a bigger club.

Giggs is one of the worlds best wingers, right now, really?

What and Taarabt is?

Valencia was by far, I mean by a mile the worst player on the pitch for Utd against Real,

When did we play Real? Must have missed that one

His highest scoring season.... ever(well in this league) 5, he's got over 5 assists in a full season, once, he got 9. He's never been anything more than average, he's not young, there's little to no potential for him to improve. Taarabt is still improving, he's shown FAR more goal threat and assist potential than Valencia.

In a far inferior league, lets see how the Spurs reject does in the premiership next season shall we?

As for Valencia stats why only include league goals and assists? Do those in the Champions League not matter? Or do they only fail to matter when it's for your argument (I seem to say the same thing to you over and over again)

Valencia is older(not as old as I thought) and hasn't shown any hint he could be a 10 goal a season winger.

Really? Funny that because in all comps last season he scored 7 times oh but I guess in the world you live in 3 extra goals is a chasm that cant be reached isn't it.... words fail me they really do

Frankly I have no idea where Valencia's reputation comes from, hope? He's done very little of anything at Utd and even less at Wigan

Yeah done nothing at United has he, only part of the PFA team of the season in his first year at United, MOTM in the Carling Cup final of 2010, set up god knows how many goals for Rooney last season, was integral to us wining the title this season and reaching the champions league final yep done absolutely nothing has he :o

Someone get on the phone to SAF and Gill and ask if Arsenal will trade us Eboue would ya?

not sure how last season fergie said there isn't any value in the Market , but this summer it's even worse and yet we are bidding

TBF look at the players we've signed thus far this season;

Young - last summer probably would have cost £30m this year we're getting him for around £16-20m

Jones - by all accounts our interest in him was accelerated by other clubs interest, from what I've read we weren't going to go for him until next summer. That aside Jones only really established himself this season so probably wasn't a target last summer

De Gea - well we wouldn't of signed him last season would we? If VDS weren't retiring we probably wouldn't be going for him this summer.

As for Sanchez, yeah we probably should have gone for him last summer, the interest in him was definitely around then but hey ho you win some you lose some.

So far I am completely underwhelmed by United transfer activity.
Even the shipping out of 2/3rds of the Irish triumvirate of ****eness seems to of ground to a halt.

Was Taarabt good this season, yes, is Giggs NEXT SEASON going to be great, as his age, if he even continues next season. You seem to have missed that I said he will probably be better than both next season, that he has the POTENTIAL to be better. Valencia scoring 7 goals, of which IIRC 3 or 4 being hilariously bad deflected goals, isn't fantastic, and that is his best season. In his less good seasons he... scored less, 3 goals and 3 assists isn't very good.

Premier league stats are simply more reliable, if you score 20 in the league and someone said they were all against West Ham, or all against Man City, that would tell 99% of the members on the board how good they were, saying someone scored 15 against CFR Cluj and most people would say, who? You can get to the champs league final 2 years in a row and not play a single team twice...... can you do that in the league? One season you can get every team with half the team injured, on their worst day in the champs league, thats far less likely to happen in the premier league, you have to play the best and the worst teams twice, often playing 3-4 times the amount of games.

I don't leave out champs league stats on purpose, infact, you only seem to point out when I don't even though I include them constantly, the fact is, they aren't very useful anyway.

Was Valencia in the PFA team every other year in the league? how often is he man of the match, does Cygan scoring a brace that won us a game, playing at left back while bombing down the wing mean he is better than Evra? Every type of player, brilliant and downright awful has great games, even a better than normal season, that really means...... nothing. Maxi was awful, for two years, and two flukey games and he goes from another rubbish 3 goal season to a 10 goal season(still rubbish but looking less bad).

Valencia's GREAT season was 7 goals and 11 assists, Nani got 9 goals 18 assists in the league alone this season.

His other seasons were, in all competitions 1goal/1 assist, 3 goals/3 assists, 3 goals and a massive 4 assists, 7 goals/11 assists, and 3 goals/3assists.

Epic. He's really not going to improve, he shows no signs of improving, he'll never be world class, across 5 seasons 1 has been decent, 3 have been poor and one has been injury hit.

Taarabt has had 2 very good seasons, he's 22, he's still improving, I've not once said he(nor Eboue) was world class, but he HAS POTENTIAL, maybe he'll be awful next season, maybe he'll have an even better season in the premier league, maybe he'll continue to get better for a few seasons and be a brilliant winger. Valencia will not be epic next season, or the season after, or the season after that, I rarely think he's even slightly good. I'd bring in someone who has the potential to be that good over someone I know won't be world class every time, one's a waste, one might be a diamond, if he ends up not being one, move on, thats football.

Yea biut when you contribute very little compared to other players who play in a similar position, you cannot disregard the facts either.

Valencia - not a UTD player for me. Ive said it before and ill say it again, he is 'workmanlike'

I want a Kanchelskis not another Ji Sung Park.

You can say, 'well he;s a good 2 way forward' yea but i dont care if he is. As a winger his job is to be great at attacking and sure its a bonus if he can defend a bit. You dont buy someone for the wing who isnt a great winger under the assumption that he can stick the boot in every now and again, surely?

I say, re position Valencia as a Right Back, Nani to right wing then find a left winger.

You need workmanlike players to balance the team, and create space and opportunities for the flair players.

Was Taarabt good this season, yes,

In a far inferior league

You seem to have missed that I said he will probably be better than both next season, that he has the POTENTIAL to be better.

No I didn't miss you say he'll probably be better I've just chosen to ignore it because you cant compare a player in a lower league with one that's in the Premiership

This less good season are you referring to the one just gone when he broke his ankle or the ones when he was at a team fighting relegation? Just wondering like..

Premier league stats are simply more reliable

They're more reliable when it fits your argument, as proved when you were bitching about Hernandez only scoring against teams like West Ham (who ironically enough now fit your argument to be of a higher level of opposition than some clubs in the Champions League) despite the fact he scored against Chelsea in the Champions League.

As for Valencia his 3 goals in the champions league have been against CSKA Moscow and Schalke hardly unknowns from the deepest darkest depths of Eastern Europe

Was Valencia in the PFA team every other year in the league? how often is he man of the match, does Cygan scoring a brace that won us a game, playing at left back while bombing down the wing mean he is better than Evra? Every type of player, brilliant and downright awful has great games, even a better than normal season, that really means...... nothing

It only means nothing in your head, Valencia in his 2 seasons at United finished one in the PFA team of the year and spent half of the second with a broken ankle. Prior to this season how many players in teams fighting relegation end up being included in the PFA team of the year? So given Valencia has only been at United for 2 years your argument about him not being included every other year has no foundation like most of your arguments

He's really not going to improve, he shows no signs of improving, he'll never be world class, across 5 seasons 1 has been decent, 3 have been poor and one has been injury hit.

Was his first season at United an improvement over any of his seasons at Wigan Yes or No? The answer is yes, so already there's an improvement. Had he not broke his ankle who's to say he wouldn't have improved further? Of course you in your naive little bubble couldn't possible comprehend that can you?

Villas-Boas as manager would be awesome! :D Was anticipating it being hiddink only because of Boas's previous comments and his rather hefty buy-out clause.

Leeds have sold Schmeichel to Leicester but he doesn't know anything about it. Complete shambles tbh.

Its a weird situation. Apparently Grayson discussed it with his agent about extending his contract (he only signed a 2 yr contract when we bought him) but they were going to be difficult negotiations or Kasper wasn't bothered. So we ran the risk of losing him for free in a year or sell for 1m now. I think he was n a mad wage too.

Blackpool keeper is apparently on his way but I'd like Westwood, Fielding or Smithies. With Bates though that isn't going to happen.

Deal for Smith looks to be getting sorted too.

Just seems dodgy as hell to me, Kasper wrote on Twitter he was never even offered a new contract. I don't trust Bates as far aas I could throw him and this makes it even worse now.

Wonder if the reported £1.25M will be spent on transfers or in Bates' pocket for a new hotel or something

Hope Smithy does sign though, that may cheer me up a little.
