Has anyone had experiences replacing the phone under the insurance with premierplan for accidental damage?

Cracked the screen and need it replaced.

I wonder what the hell happened to my phone this morning, I thought it was dead. This morning at 4am, I pressed the home button, the clock and date were there as usual on the lockscreen. But there was no lockscreen, just a completely black background. I tried swiping it, nothing. Pressed the power button and the phone became completely dead, nothing happening, couldn't even get the time and date back. Connected to mains charger, nothing, no icon. Left it overnight till just now. Pressed power button, nothing. Connected to USB, nothing. Took battery cover off, removed sim card ready to put back in my old phone. Removed battery which was firmly in and then put battery back in after a few seconds. Everything fired up fine and it said 100% battery charge since obviously charging overnight.

Something up with the battery connection? It wasn't loose. The fact that I had the clock on screen but no lockscreen background and not swipable, does this suggest a battery problem or a phone issue?

doesnt sound like a battery issue if the display was on. Sounds more like a particularly nasty crash that needed a battery pull to sort it out, something i was quite familiar with with my blackberry :p

Yes, I think you've nailed it there james. It must have been a crash, that would make sense, since as you say, there was still a display when the phone seemed to freeze and not show the lockscreen wallpaper.

What does this suggest then, that the phone is faulty and I should return it, or is it par for the course to expect crashes? I've not rooted it, not dropped the phone, not had a single knock or scratch, not subjected it to any shock, not had heavy usage, not charged any more than necessary as I always let it drain pretty much right down (I think it would have been at about 15 to 17% when the crash happened) and the only major thing I've done to the operating system is to bypass the stock launcher by installing launcher pro.

oh ok so you were lucky it was still in warranty. if i had pulled my finger out my butt mine would have been too but i never did anything until it was 10 days out.

no i haven't rooted the phone.

did you use a case and if so which? my case has been off for a while now and no one mentions it any more

no case used mate, i have a sena leather pouch, but when making calls no case. someone on xda said try disabling the noise cancellation, as it could be a bug with that, however i have not tried as will get a new one tomorrow.

you could try kicking up a stick with your network operator

unless it happened again, i wouldnt even worry about it :)

As much as I'd like battery life to always improve and bugs to be fixed, since changing roms, i'm pretty happy with my battery life:

i think i will as i can't really use it when all you get is peopel saying can't hear you but can hear myself twice. it's pants any way and i'm really hoping tmobile/orange merge improves soon as as one network they'll be great but switching between the 2 right now is almost worst then it was as just the one, especially when it's on my alt network and i need 3g

i 100% think its and issues with the handset. hopefully if you moan enough, maybe even say your reported it a few weeks back in store or something, if not bite the bullet and send it off,

ThNks I much prefer golauncher to launcher pro. How have you managed to clock yours? Iv not been able to with my rooted stock rom. Iv tried 2 different apps with no joy.

Tegrak ;) works with stock ROMs, doesnt use "cheat scripts" from some ROM's  though as someone else also said, quadrant is only for one core phones atm.

yeah need quadrant to be updated before you can truly know the score, not that it means much as you can through anything and one of these phones

Ewwww. Got my SGS2 yesterday and absolutely love the thing. What a screen! Even got a full strength signal and a constant H 3.5g

BUT I had a real shock when I found that my speed seemed to be capped at 350 down and 50 up and even more of a shock when I started reading about why that might be.

Seriously. I was gobsmacked when I discovered the almighty conspiracy regarding T-Mobile not allowing HSDPA use if you bought a contract through a 3rd Party reseller. The place I bought mine from certainly made no mention of speed capping anywhere. Sneaky indeed.

Anyways. It's all by the by now. After a chat with a really good bloke in T-Mobiles technical dept my cap was removed and I'm now pulling 1.9 down and 500 up.

Not great but certainly not as bad as it was.

He was a really good bloke actually. Fully expected them to want to charge me £5 a month like they sometimes do - apparently

about the same as mine. Shame my friends desireHD urinates all over mine. We sat them side by sdie and mine was 1.5mb down/500kb up while his was 3.5mb down / 1mb up.
