****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

How hard can it be to copy and paste your music onto your phone?

Android lets you do just that.

Not everyone just wants to copy folders of music onto their phone. Some of us actually have playlists compiled for various reasons, the manual management of which is simply a stupendous task.

It's not, but some people like to have their hand held rather than making a little bit of effort.

Casdawer, as for the tracks not having names etc etc why would you not have all your music tagged anyway?

Surely it's as simple as copying the playlist file over too? I Don't use playlists myself so haven't tried this with stock player or any 3rd party apps but I can't see why it wouldn't work?

Can anyone decipher this for me and advise what I need to do to update to latest firmware?

It's because you have a branded phone, mine is the same. You'll have to either use ODIN or wait for an OTA update I think.

You can sync iTunes playlists to Android (even over the air) with various available apps like isyncr.

So im hoping my SGS2 comes tomorrow, thirst thing i will do is remove touchwiz. What stock android roms are recommended?

There aren't any stock android roms yet afaik, they all seem to be based on Samsung builds. There seems to be a CM7 build being worked on though but it's not available yet. Why do you want to remove touchwiz anyway?

i hate how much of a iphone wannabe it is, i suppose if i can re style the icons and and other elements it wont be so bad

Yeah it was just an update (and re rooting after), didn't bother doing a full wipe, but i think i might try that. I have cleared cache using an app off the market to see if that helped.

If a reset/wipe doesn't sort it out then i might try moving to a custom rom (which i've been considering doing for a while anyway).

How do you do this reset/wipe or are you on about factory reset from within phone options?

I also just flashed and would say battery is no better than before, maybe worse due to the wifi signal always being stronger. Just wondered if wiping made any difference for you so I know if its worth trying or not? :D

Do most people not just flash anyway, or do you guys do a cache wipe?

Just replace it with another launcher surely, no need to run a custom rom?

Remove the launcher and lock screen, and if you're so inclined the dialer and sms apps and job done.

I've done all but the dialer which I don't mind (coming from stock android)

Stock dialler is fine but it has a fundamental flaw which I have glossed over many times so Dialer One for me remains king of the hill. GoDialler has the contact icon issue still.

SMS app is perfectly fine though imo.

My battery life is still crap, it barely makes it a full day.

Android system and android OS are always on top, any ideas how to improve this ?

I haven't charged the battery the best way the first time, lots of short charges and uses, but after a day, I pretty much always just charge it when it's about 10% or less ( simply because the battery is empty) and never charge it when it's above 30%... I charge it every night.

Also, does anyone know why ''maps'' takes 13% of my battery, despite me never using it ?

This is my battery usage page:

Today I barely used it at all, perhaps 5 short phone calls. Yeah bluetooth and wifi are always on ( cba to turn it on every time I get in the car (bt) or wifi every time I get home), but turning them off barely makes a noticeable difference.

I've had to flash back to kf3. Initially i flashed to the stock kg1 firmware but the following day after flashing the phone got stuck in 2g. i'd messed around with different roms so i put it down to me doing something wrong. I got in from work the same day and flashed to lite'ning v2.1 (again kg1). I got my hsdpa back and that cool blue theme as well - happy days. The next day i lost all 3g again  now im back on KF3 for now.

I've no idea what caused this but hopefully its just a software issue and not a faulty radio :(

With regards to battery life....mine's awesome compared to my old Desire (which I's fine tuned to give really decent battery life anyway...)

In my eyes, the No.1 batt killer on the SG2 are the hubs. They are the 1st thing I freeze (using Titanium) but I also have the following frozen, either because they are simply not required by me or I use an alternative app:-

Accuweather
Ap mobile
Buddies Now
Days
IM
Music 1.1.1
My Files
Samsung Acct
Samsung Apps
SNS Apps
Video Maker
Voice Command (can never understand me anyway...)
Voice search
WiFi Sharing
WiFi Sharing Manager

That lot leaves me still with a multimedia powerhouse that loses no functionality for me whatsoever, but can last me all day and beyond....

I literally don't even consider battery life anymore, and just use it for whatever and whenever I like....

I'm on Villain 2.0 currently btw.... ;)
