** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

Firstly you have to say that so many managers have a complete lack of class and respect for their fellow managers. I can't imagine Wenger saying this about a player who's manager had previously stated he wasn't for sale.

Wenger might not show disrespect when it comes to player transfers, but I'm sure on several occasions he's shown complete disrespect to other teams/managers on the sidelines when his team is being beat. He's a sore loser and everyone knows it.

But with regards to disrpect flowing through transfers etc, I completely agree with you. Some managers do step completely over the line and it's not right. It's arrogant and it annoys me too.

Is Arsene Wenger taking the biscuit?

Why is he so damn stingy!

Every season for the last 6 has been so predictable. He says he will buy, after a few weeks in to the transfer windows comes out and says "we were very very close last year, my players are now a year older, I have a great squad, no need to buy"

Season starts, the lack of center backs a striker, (last season a keeper) are all to event.

Season ends, Arsenal support rage BUY you ****! He sais yea ok, we need something, a few weeks in to transfer windows he repeats: "we were very very close last year, my players are now a year older, I have a great squad, no need to buy"

Over and over again.

Is it Arsene who is the problem? Is it the board that is the problem?

Who is behind the scenes making these decisions?

Being an Arsenal support at the moment is really crappy. Its so frustrating.

Maybe if we where a Bolton, it wouldnt be so bad, but when once you where 'unbeatables' this decline and stagnation is excruciating!

Don't be so negative and don't get caught up in DM's sensationalist bull. Wenger doesn't spend massive amounts on players, if you haven't realised that by now then maybe you need to. While he is in charge it's very unlikely we'll be jizzing £20,000,000 on average English midfielders or £35,000,000 on average English strikers. What Wenger does is buy youth and on the whole he does a good job. It's not all doom and gloom, we've just signed Gervinho which will surely bolster the attack as he was the best forward in Ligue one last year easily.

Despite what certain posters insinuate we haven't done that badly considering the squad, the age of the majority of the players, the injuries to key members and so on. We reached a cup final, we were knocked out of the Champions League by the eventual winners and one of the most dominant European sides we've seen for a number of years. We were also in with a chance of winning the league right up until the final month or so, don't get caught up in all the negativity.

As long as the players brought in are right for the club I couldn't care how little they cost, I'm not saying Wenger is perfect, he's made his fair share of dodgy purchases but some players are written off way too quickly. People are crying for Squillaci to be sold when he's only had 1 season, I can fully understand the hate for Denilson, he's terrible, he's had almost 100 appearances for Arsenal and has never looked Arsenal quality. But some players are written off before they have a chance.

Walcott is 22, he can still improve, Wilshere is still a teenager, the defence are all young apart from Squillaci, our strikeforce is fairly young and van Persie is just coming into his prime, the players are still maturing and learning their profession and just because it feels like Wenger says that every season doesn't make it any less true. Sure I'd love it if we signed some world class players to supplement our squad but let's not get hysterical.

Its funny that, bar the bit about Gervinho i've seen this exact same paragraph before .. every pre-season for the last 4 years or so

Would still take Hazard over Gervinho to be honest.

He made the same assists and scored half as many goals but imho looks a far better prospect, only difference is Arsenal wouldn't pay ~£20 million or so for a player.

Yeah we would all love new expensive signings. What fan doesn't like the thrill of a new player in the team to watch.

But although it all collapsed towards the end of the year we still did well in all the competitions. We just didn't end to well lol

I love three or four new players but I would also be happy for the season to kick off now without anymore. Missing my football fix each week.

We still have more exciting young players than most teams even with fab and nasri talking about leaving.

Let's hope we go one step further this year with or without new blood

All these "exciting" young players that continually fail to do what is asked of them.

Arsenal still need to strengthen in certain area's and with what looks like the imminent departure of Cesc and Nasri they really need to splash some money on rebuilding.

The thing is I don't think any Arsenal fans on here are really expecting us to win the Champions League or win the Premier League each season. We do well and for the players we have we are right where we should be.

Well if you're happy not winning anything then fair enough! :p

Of course not. What I'm saying is that we can still do well without expecting to win the league each year. We were still fighting for it right until the last four or five weeks. Considering all our players apart from Fabregas are apparently rubbish that isn't too bad is it? :p

I still find it exciting to watch. That's all that matters really to me :p

Not saying I wouldn't be exciting if he suddenly spent £100m on players though lol

The thing with arsenal is that they are either swinging towards winning things or loosing out on the cl spot. All it takes is a bad season to drop of the top 4. Look at pool, 2 years on the trot without cl and its looking like hard work even getting close to it

Yes i know this source is also terribly bad its Goal.com but ill share the post anyway :p

Lyon defender Aly Cissokho is reportedly on the verge of signing for Liverpool for a fee of £8.7 million (€10m).

The Anfield outfit have had a busy summer in the transfer window to date, but missed out on Gael Clichy, who admitted to turning them down to move to Manchester City.

Le Parisen reports that coach Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli have turned their attentions to the Blois-born left-back, who impressed for his underperforming team in 2010-11.

The report indicates that a deal could be wrapped up as early as the end of the weekend, with the Merseyside outfit looking set to continue their big-spending tactics.

Cissokho joined the Stade de Gerland team from Porto in 2009 for a fee of €15m (£13.1m), but owner Jean-Michel Aulas is believed to be keen to bring in revenue and is willing to make a loss on the full-back.

He has made 60 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, and has earned one international cap for Laurent Blanc's Les Bleus.

I have never seen this guy play but its a LB and if good address another issue we currently have.

So do Arsenal not want to win things? Do they just want to play nice tippy tappy football?

I've always thought football was about playing the beautiful game but winning things. Arsenal do play beautiful football but don't win things, United have a balance between good football and winning things and that ruthless streak.

Arsenal need to improve, they could end up dropping out of the top four. They've not improved, they're slowly going backwards and it will be a massive step backwards given that Cesc and Nasri are looking like leaving.

Liverpool have improved, Spurs still look good and given the spending power of City and Chelsea combined with United being United that's what? 6 sides going for four spots.

Not sure what to make of this rumour. The French press are reporting it as all but done but it's not really been picked up by anywhere reliable over here. Also, Comolli hinted yesterday that there weren't any imminent incoming transfers and that any signings will now depend on who and how many players we sell.

As for Cissokho as a player; I saw a fair bit of him when he was at Porto and he looked an absolute monster, since moving to Lyon I've not seen a great deal of him though.

Please explain how we are going backwards, we've finished within the Champions League places every single year so what makes last year a step backwards from that tradition?

The only thing that frustrates me are the games we should win but don't. The collapse against Wigan a couple of seasons ago and the 4-0 lead against Newcastle are prime examples. I've already said this twice but I'll say it again as people keep ignoring it, we reached a cup final and we were competing for the league right up until the final 4 or 5 weeks. Apart from that we were dumped out on the Champions League by one of the most dominant European sides we've seen for years. It's not exactly shameful is it?
