Can't be bothered spending the 20 seconds to google it but Aguero doesn't score that many does he? Compared to Forlan / other good strikers in La Liga? Considering Tevez was a machine last year is he actually good enough to replace him?

20 goals a season for the last 4 seasons, according to Wiki.

Why would Wenger need to lie to bump up the price? We don't need the money, we've just been announced as the world's 7th most valuable sports team. 3rd most valuable football team behind Man Utd and Real Madrid. I hardly think he's going to come out and try to talk up a player who would probably sell for £10,000,000 and upwards. The only place I've heard the £20,000,000 figures quoted is in the newspapers, and they'd never make up anything, would they?

When all the rags are running the same story there's generally some truth in there but who knows. Arsenal may not need the money but they'll still want to get as much as possible for their players.

Even if you ignore the Arsenal board for the moment; Wenger has generally chose to cash in on players (much better players than Nasri too) before they lose their value. Keeping Nasri for another season will cost you anything upto £20m which is madness and if Wenger and/or the board think it's a good idea then they've lost the plot.

If Nasri intent on leaving and a decent offer comes in, I'd be shocked if he's still an Arsenal player at the end of the transfer window.

edit: and why is it that when people criticise Wenger for not spending, the response from Arsenal fans is that you've actually not got any money to spend, and when the talk is about you selling, you're the richest club going and there's no need to sell?

He might well be :o

Hazard was the stand out player last season when I watched / Read and listened to updates and commentary a bout the French leagues, Gerinvho just scored more goals domestically (and in cup comps iirc)

Arsenal don't spend big on players which is why they're so profitable, most clubs would be more profitable if they barely spent anything on fee's and just spent lots on wages. Gervinho was cheaper and the "easier" option.

If other Premier League teams spent so little on transfers do you think they'd be in the Champions League every year also?

Hazard 43 starts 9 goals 9 assists

Gervinho 36 starts 15 goals and 10 assists

Hazard scored two goals in the French cup, Gervinho scored 1 I believe. I don't see how Hazard can be considered the better of the two players going forward.

He got more goals assists then that last season? Where are you plucking your stats from?

Gervinho was good buisness. A player with his attributes and stats from a league winning French team in todays market at 10m is bloody good business.

However Arsenal have to get real.

We are still operating in a mode that was applicable to how the Premiership was back in 2000.

Those times have gone. Now its all about keep up or get left behind, end of.

When Abramovitch took over at Chelski, I called it the premierships 9/11.

It totally changed the direction the Premiership was heading. Then came the other billionaires (Glazers, Hicks/Gillet, Sheikh Mansour) and all the other ones at Villa etc etc etc....

Before Abraovitch, Arsene predicted Arsenal would dominate English football for the next decade. We had a good team and our youngster where the best in class.

However Abramovitch stuck two fingers up at this tore up the rule book and stunted Arsenals growth.

I hope Arsenal do get bought out by one of the bilionairs via for control.

We need someone who is ruthless and who gets things done. We are procrastinating at the moment, peny pinching, missing out on buying players who go to other teams, becuase we tried to save 2 million punds etc....

If Arsenal was Abramovitch owned or owned by these Sheikhs, they would tell Arsene bring in a centerback..... so ****ing around.

The premerirship is a do or die place now. There is no place for morals.

Keep up or get left behind. Problem iis we do not have the funds to keep up.

Something must change, or else.

Why do players like Nasri, Cesc and Clichy want to leave? They want to win things.

To win things means you need to operate at the same level of the other teams who arte winning 'your' trophies.

If city are psending chit loads and liverpool are spending 100million since Kenny took over, then this is the same ball park Arsenal need to be spending to compete.

This is why FIFA/UEFA brought in the new rules regarding not being able to spend more than the club makes.

Problem here is that City get round this issues by getting the Staduim sponsored (or name changed) tio Etihad, which are owned by the owners of City, artificial injectikng 400mill in to the club allowing them to theoretically claim that they can spend an extra 400mill as that is what the club is making!

Cheating scum. Thats why Arsene and Liverpool (i think) are compliaining.

Liverpool wont even finish in the top 4 this season.

Look at the money they've spent.

Downing - 20 million
Adams - 8 + Million
Andy Caroll - 35 million
Suarez - 23 million

Downing isn't worth 9 million let alone 20 million, and im a villa fan i should know. I Was hoping Mcleish was gonna sell him for 15 million when the bid came in.

Adams is horrible average, he couldn't cut it in the SPL, one good season in a team that got relegated, bad signing as he has little to no defensive side about him, never tracks back when he loses the ball.

Andy Caroll - won't even go there, 35 million :O..................

Suarez - beast of a signing, no complaints here.

what they need to replace is there ****e inconsistent defence.

Gervinho - 43 appearances / 18 goals / 10 assists last season.

Hazard - 56 appearances / 12 goals / 10 assists last season.

Gervinho also cost about half as much as Hazard would have cost (you paid like 10/11 million £ for him)

Those stats still show Gervinho as being the better buy, for less money? :p

I don't get the point you're making.

Is Hazard better just because he would have cost more?

The writing's been on the wall for a while. 86% of City's commercial $$$ comes from deals with companies with close ties to their owners.. most these companies have never made a profit in the real world, yet are willing to part with millions on a small English club.

Please mods, auto ban anyone adding an S onto the end of Adam ..

Also - the same ***** defence which conceded less goals then the vast majority of teams after Kenny came in charge? Its no worse then Chelsea's, Arsenals ..

I can't really comment on Hazard / Gervinho as I don't watch Ligue 1 but I am of the view that stats don't tell you everything and endlessly quoting one having more goals / assists doesn't necessarily make them a better player.

DM = Arsenal's happiest fan.

oh I was just giving the correct stats, I don't mind Grevinho being better "stats" wise to be honest.

Hazard was the player everyone was talking about last season, wonderful player, I was making the point that Arsenal went for the cheaper option in Gevinho (who is a good player, I don't remember saying he wasn't) but that Hazard would have cost more, Arsenal couldn't of afforded him so got the cheaper player.
