Im sure Beckham would love to leave his family and the glamour of LA for Leicester....

Point is, I think he wants to come back and play in England (or the reports I've heard have said this)

He's certainly not going to be paid anywhere near his current wage for staying for another season.

How far is it from Beckingham Palace to Leicester? Could move for family reasons what with little Harper Seven being around.

Roman Pavlyuchenko has no plans to leave Tottenham and is keen to extend his contract at White Hart Lane, according to his agent.

The Russia international has struggled at times for regular first-team starts due to Harry Redknapp's attacking options.

Pavlyuchenko has to compete with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch for a berth in the XI with Rafael van der Vaart often employed in a forward role.

That has led to suggestions that the former Spartak Moscow man could be ready to leave the North London club and seek a new challenge.

"We don't care about any other offers because Roman wants to stay in London, his heart belongs to Tottenham."
- Oleg Artemov

But the 29-year-old's agent, Oleg Artemov, insists that his client is only interested in agreeing new terms with Spurs when they return from their pre-season tour to South Africa.

Artemov told Sovetskiy Sport: "We haven't talked about Roman's future with Tottenham yet. The team is in South Africa at the moment and then we'll negotiate about his contract extension.

"We don't care about any other offers because Roman wants to stay in London, his heart belongs to Tottenham."

Good news as far as I'm concerned.

we need all these clubs to get back from the money spinning tours of football deprived countries and start buying more players, i love the transfer merry-go-round :D

Arsenal signing another youngster. Joel Campbell from Costa Rican side Deporivo Saprissa.

Just seen this too!

I really wonder how many of these youngsters will actually come good or live up to wengers expectations. My guess is not very many, but there's always some hope. :(

Just read the lads wiki page and he was apparently being watched by Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona FC so he might be a decent buy.

Harry Redknapp has apparently said he "cant afford" to sign Scott Parker.

Thats got to be a worry for Spurs fans.

Not really. I'm relieved. He sees how the expense outweighs the benefits in a position we have well covered.

"If you take into account the fee of around £8m, signing on fees and wages you're talking about a £30m deal," Redknapp told the Sunday Mirror.

"There is no way the club would sanction a deal for a 30-year-old who would have no resale value at the end of his contract."

Not so much that we can't afford it in a financial sense, but that we can't afford to spend it so wastefully.

Just heard about Diouf from Utd to Blackpool (sorry if its already been mentioned) for an undisclosed fee

Dont know how well he did at Blackburn last season, but if he had done really well Im sure I would have heard about it at the time - so seems like a reasonable deal for both sides (even if Utd dont get much £££ out of it)

And Berbatov cost 30mill ...Utd still spent around £250 million more than Arsenal over the last 5 years in wages + transfers, that's hardly pocket change and if Arsenal had tried to match that then yes they might have won something but would be woefully worse off financially now than they are currently.

Putting that figure into context the Emirates cost c. £400 million by all accounts so you can see where the money went - there is no way at all they could have matched Utd/Chelsea/Citys spending while also building and paying off their stadium. The fact they even remained competitive is remarkable in itself.

plucked numbers out of the air much :D

You have no idea how much Utd spend so please dont try and guess

You seem to be very protective of Wenger even though he hasnt won anything in a very long time - and when he does get a chance the team HE has assembled doesnt man up at all and folds like a cheap house in a light breeze (CC final against Brum)

Whether you like it or not AW HAS had the chance to buy ONE decent player a season for the last few years (even before Cesc trying to leave for the last 2 or 3 summers, there was a need for real experience in the team - and by now you could have 1/2 a team of top notch players all bought iin slowly....and you never know this could have persuaded Cesc to stay longer)

This is the first time in a very long time SAF has spent any huge amount of money - and mainly because Neville, Scholes and VDS all retired and Hargreaves was released. Some of that experience needs to be replaced and that costs £££.

Utd havent spent anything like the amount Chelsea or City have in the last couple of seasons, and whats more Utd's spending is still well within financial fair play (because they keep on winning major prizes most seasons year after year - which cant be said for City (yet at least) or to a certain extent Chelsea...although at least the latter has been getting a lot of £££ for 1st and 2nd EPL places for a number of years and TV money for good CL performances)

over the last 5 years man city and Chelsea over spent, arsenal have under spent and UTD have got just right. you need that balance, UTD are a gimmie for the QF of the CL each and every year, and normally go further (until they meet barca) they are always up there in the league and bar 1 point and one defeat to Chelsea would have won the premier league 5 times in a row, as it is 4/5 is pretty good... i suspect fergie will buy a decent CM and then perhaps nothing in Jan or even next year bar a few youth prospects

This just shows how ridiculous it all is. Most fans just see the transfer fee but don't figure in the crazy wages.

Lets say Modric goes for £40m. Then he manages to land a plum £150k a week on a 5 year contract, that's another £40m. So £80m total plus any add-ons or bonuses!!

Dread to think what it would cost to bring Messi to EPL or even bring Ronaldo back if they actually wanted too i bet each player would be 100M min and god knows what wages

I'd do it given the chance. Marquee players go a long way to paying their own wages when you factor in your marketing deals.

Arsenal doesn't need more young players. It needs experience players that have won trophies. I think the policy of only offerring 1 year contracts to the older players has done them harm.
