How is Sanchez unproven? Hes been a first team regular for Chile for a while now played in the World Cup and has played in Serie A for years.

Pressure.

Yeah he's played at a world cup, but for a team with pretty much zero expectation. Then he's played at a mid level (yeah I know they had a good year last year) club in a league that is no longer top standard. Adapting to a top pressure club at the top of one of the top leagues in the world is something different.

Dun, dun, DUHHHHHH!!!!! :o

Tell you what, how about both of you bugger off and talk about this somewhere else because it is in no way a transfer rumour, signing or anything that anyone cares about at all.

I am sure that both of you are waiting for the other person to change their opinion based on your repeated and pointless posts but i'll let you in on a secret. Its a ******* opinion, its not going to change because someone disagrees with you. Really am getting sick of trawling through pages of **** posts from 4-5 people just bickering about something which is not fact and pure speculation.
Quoted because some people just don't seem to get it.

It is completely ridiculous to tailor your summer signings to apparently beat a team you may not play in Europe.

Yes this is a true statement.

However if your manager comes out and says:

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson eyeing Barcelona rematch in next year’s Champions League final

"The target is to be in Munich in May next year," he told reporters.

"Only then, if it's Barcelona again, can we assess if we've been able to cope with that challenge."

The only thing i am pointing out is that if they are signing 'superior' players to the ones that we are trying to sign and we were outclassed the previous 2 occasions we met barca and lost miserably, then how can we expect the addition of say, Ashley Young and De Gea make a difference in this situation to give us that extra edge? I simply dont feel that they can. Its a wing and a prayer, we have certainly done nothing to substantially increase the quality of the first team, and the overall squad/team has been weakened by losing Scholes and VDS who on his own was worth many points over the course of the entire campaign due to his fine keeping. De Gea might be a hot prospect but will he perform like VDS from day 1? unlikely.

That some people cannot accept this as the truth makes me, uncomfortable. There should be no need to justify and rejustify a comment like that, or be asked to throw yourself off a bridge. I just cant understand the mentality of someone who would go off on such a tangent.

The thing with Sanchez is will he be an improvement over Pedro? Pedro seems to fit perfectly into Barca's system with his diagonal runs, Sanchez on the other hand is very much an out and out winger and Barca signed an out and out winger in the January window in Jeffren and he's barely got a look in. I know Sanchez is a much bigger name in football and will be coming in for a much bigger transfer fee but Barca's last big money signing Ibrahimovic only lasted a season with them because he didn't fit into their system.

To be fair I quite like pedro and think he does a good job for Barca and suits their style of play well, they don't need to replace him but they're are Barca they've got the money so they might aswell get in the biggest names they can.

Also Jeffren? isn't he from their youth academy? Or do you mean Afellay, if so I don't think he was meant to be a regular first team signing I think he is more of a squad player a very talented squad player.

Your telling me that the best team in the world in the most desirable league in the world can attract better players than us?

Madness I tell you.

I think Sanchez will be a replacement for Villa more regularly, Pedro out classed him consistently last season.

Kyle Naughton to join Norwich City on a season-long loan from Spurs.

Barca have officially officially signed Sanchez now.

.

Currently Barca are ahead of everyone by a considerable margin, however its still not a bad thing (at all) to aim to be at the CL final in May - which is really all SAF said.

Whether VDS was worth several points /wins a season or not is irrelavent ONCE yur in the final (not disputing his quality at all) as majority of those games are played against equals or worse, so even with pressure of 1st season at Utd De Gea could still be worth a few wins himself. No faulting the guy but VDS has caused some losses as well (although not mamy) - just being fair.

The whole discussion is probably irrelevant as surely its odds on favourite that Utd and Barca will be in the same side of the draw anyway (if we both get through the group games) so it wont be a one off game anyway (so therefore different tactics etc - and Barca become a little more prone seemingly)
