Not sure if Spurs fans would agree but I wouldn't view either of those especially Adebarndoor as better than what they already have let alone the top class player Arry keeps saying Spurs need

Sky are saying they're in talks with Barca over Afellay, not sure they need anymore wingers tbh

Adebayor to Spurs, yes please. Many bonuses to that:

  • He'll disrupt the WHL dressing room as he has done everywhere else
  • A chance to throw even more bile at the **** when he comes to the Emirates this season
  • Will almost guarantee that Spurs will not improve this season
  • Gives me the opportunity to laugh at every Spurs fan I know who generally think he's a complete ****
  • A good chance of a fight between him and Gallas at some point during the season

If you can keep Adebayor interested then he's a 20 goal a season man..

But yeah ... good luck with that.

Tom84 do you not think that ronaldo blossoming contributed more to that success or tevez or Rodney? Carrick was a peripheral player not the one who stamped his authority over the games to win those accolades?

Carrick was not a peripheral player whatsoever, total appearances in his 5 seasons at the club

06/07 - 52
07/08 - 49
08/09 - 43
09/10 - 44
10/11 - 43

That puts him ahead of any other central midfielder at the club over those 5 years so whilst he may not have been the one at the end of our attacking play he's easily contributed as much to our success over his 5 years as any other player in the squad. To suggest he's just been a spectator in those 231 appearances is extremely blinkered or naive

In a good season Defoe's a 20 goal man as well. Just cant see Adebayor being happy at Spurs, he seems to have a very high opinion of himself and that he belongs at the likes of Real Madrid. I even get the feeling that he thinks he's bigger than City as well despite not being able to get into their team week in week out

Vucinic is pretty good but I'm surprised anyone would still want to take a risk on Adebarndoor. His wage demands have got to be huge.

The nonsense generators on the Spurs forums reckon he's happy to take a substantial pay cut to join Spurs (initially on loan).

FC Barcelona and AS Roma have reached an agreement for the sale of Bojan Krkic for 12 million euros.

The Italian outfit will pay 12 million for the player and the agreement includes an obligatory repurchase clause to be exercised by FC Barcelona at the end of the 2012/13 season, for a cost of 13 million.

This purchase can be blocked by AS Roma, but in such a case the overall cost of the transfer will rise to 40 million euros.

A move for Vucinic seems more likely now then? He'd be a good addition to Spurs I think, he so many sitters last season so him! :D

I saw this earlier; it reads as if Barca are obliged to offer Roma €13m to buy Bojan back in 2 seasons but that can't be right, surely it's just an option to buy him back at that price?

I think it's basically like a bit of insurance, if he's a flop in two seasons then Barca will buy him back for £13m (Roma get a £1m profit on the sale), but if he is a success then Roma can reject it.

This part is even more confusing! :D How does it rise to that if they keep him after 12/13?

It looks like it's a loan but at the end of it Barca pay Roma for having him if they don't want to keep him.

andersred: Sell him for €12m all of which counts as profit as he has zero book value. That profit counts under FFP (cont).

andersred: Then buy him back for €13m in two years time but only recognise that cost over the life of his new contract.... Genius.

If City can bend the rules..

Read to me like Roma are essentially paying €12m for a two year loan with the option to buy him for €40m or Barca will get him back for €13m.

From what I understand; Roma buy him for €12m, Barca then can (or have to) buy him back for €13m in 2 seasons time however Roma can block the €13m buyback clause by paying Barca a further €28m which brings the total cost to €40m.

edit: the only bit I'm not too sure of is whether Barca are obliged to buy him back.

They are not obliged to buy him back, they are obliged to make a bid of €13m. Then it's up to Roma if they want to keep him or not. As you say if they want him they will have to pay the €28m extra.

It's like a very long loan deal, and I really can't see them stumping up €28m to keep him really. I suppose it's for him to get a lot of quality playing time.

Yes I understand that but as you say, if Roma don't pay the extra €28m (which they're highly unlikely to do) then Barca are obliged to offer €13m to buy him back.

It doesn't make sense as a loan deal either. Why would Barca (in effect) pay Roma €1m to take a very useful player off them for 2 seasons? Had it been the other way around, with Roma paying Barca some sort of loan fee, then you could understand it.

The only way this deal make sense is if Barca have the option to buy him back rather than they must offer €13m for him (if Roma don't pay the extra €28m).

Watched a few vids of Vucinic and he looks a pretty good player. Very passionate about scoring goals as well, kicks over advertisement boards and everything.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Spurs shirt at all.

If he was not going to play for the first team much then he will get 2 years experience, barca will save 2 years worth of wages and then get a better player back at the end of it. All for very little outlay. Very good bit of business from barca.
