With this Barca kid joining Chelsea, do people think he'll just go for a few seasons and do a Cesc? Want to go back to Barca after developing in a strong first eleven?

If that's the case then maybe we should scrap the idea of a transfer thread.

I just mean that its natural/easy for someone to say something thats not entirely transfer related while talking about transfers here and for others to respond to it. Its not really practical to suddenly then go and create a new thread and be able to recreate that discussion. Not sure if that makes sense!

I dont think Tevez price is a problem its his history 2 years at clubs max and then whines entirely that 2 years of being unhappy, family etc if that wasn't the case i think the bigger clubs would pay his fee.

Totally agree.

Everyone knows he's a great goal scorer, it's just is he going to moan and whine all the time saying he wants to go home etc. If he was to play for Spurs, I'd rather he put a pair of trousers on first and sort his woman out and then come and put a pair of shorts on for us.

I cant see who we could feasibly sign who would command a first team spot from day 1. Wish I could.

EDIT : whoops, you're quite right :)

The latest name to be linked is Diego Godín and I'd be more than happy if we signed him; quick, good on the ball and like most south american defenders, loves to get stuck in too.

He doesnt really fit with the list of requirements that fit my bill though, he isnt proven in the english game, I've no idea if he is available (he only signed a 5 year contract with Atletico last year) and I've no idea if he would want to join us (or whether he would play as passionately for us (or potentially for as long) as Dann would). I'd rather Dann personally :)

Anyone heard anything about Cescs behaviour this preseason with Arsenal?

Some guy, Tim Payton (close links with the club? Shareholder? not sure), is saying that he wont train or play in pre-season and is doing everything short of handing in a transfer request (loss of money if he does) to force a move?

Is any of this story credible? I thought he was injured anyway.

Who knows, he has every right to, its plain as day that he was made promises to stay another season, same as Modric, and now Wenger is playing the desparate game to keep him.

Modric is getting screwed, people seem to miss that a contract is to help the CLUB aswell as the player, Modric could have signed nothing(it doesn't seem like he got a big pay bump did he) and then he'd be worth less on the transfer market. Instead he makes an agreement with the owners, I'll sign a new contract so when I do go, you get more money, and everyone wins.

This has clearly happened with Cesc, though for me, I think this has likely happened more than once for Cesc, Wenger has history, Vieira/Henry almost certainly and a few more that are very likely. Cesc could have been running down his contract for years and leaving on a free(and getting a crap load more money himself to do so) but didn't want to screw Arsenal, now Arsenal seem to be screwing him.

Anyway, theres just as many rumours suggesting Wenger won't let anyone he is fairly sure is leaving from training with the first team squad, and, yes, of course Campbell is training at the London training ground, with apparently Bendtner, Eboue, Cesc and , sweet jesus, Diaby, all training away from the rest of the squad, also Campbell, yes the guy who has screwed us more than once, is back using Arsenal to get fit, again. Seriously, how does he still get involved with Arsenal at all when he left and utterly screwed us out of any fee, I have no idea whats going on with us, every year some new truly ridiculous thing is going on. Hell Nasri had a verbal contract with Arsenal in October yet we didn't bother to give him a contract to sign for months, at which point he decided he had better options. I don't love the guy, at all but if Arsenal and Wenger want him, which they clearly do, why not give him papers to sign in October and be done with it.

Which will be ruddy hilarious if Cesc stays, and is unfit for the start of the season and the squad having not trained with him, with Nasri having left. Because Nasri has one year left on his contract, has had bigger offers, much bigger offers we can't afford and hsa refused our contracts repeatedly, while Cesc is actually under a long term contract and anyone interested hasn't matched his price...... yet Wenger is freezing out Cesc, while Nasri has played with essentially the bulk of the first team in games(while being completely rubbish and if I'm honest, he just looks disinterested). Seriously what kind of idiot, given the option of a player leaving in a year, or leaving now + 20mil in the bank, chooses the former, especially when he's not even very good and has a major attitude problem.

Generally the entire situation is ludicrous right now, anyway Tim Payton is part of the the supporters trust, and apparently has some shares through the fanshare program, not an out and out real shareholder with real say in anything.

Although I haven't heard anything much either way, I highly doubt it. Even if they club are annoying him, I think he has too much respect for the fans. I think if he is forced to stay, he would give everything for the fans.

I'd hope so, at least.

"It was a good work-out, that's for sure, and all the players have had to work really hard to get the result. We've got a big squad now and we're going to need it, I think. It's a young squad too. We've got Chicharito to join us on tour, Darron Gibson's back home. Then we've got the young players at the club like Pogba, Ravel Morrison, the two Keane brothers... we've got a very healthy situation at the moment."

It's sounding more and more like we aren't going to be getting anyone :(

Sir Alex Ferguson is considering one of the most unexpected transfer moves of his 24-year tenure as Manchester United manager - a bid for Joey Barton.
I await Barton's insta-rehabilitation in this thread into one of England's most exciting world-class midfield talents :p

I think you will be waiting along time - that rumour definitely comes from what the journo in question was smoking last night LOL (and it must have been amazing stuff)

but starts to wonder if there is a shared agent........and even thats probably unlikely too lol

In all seriousness ive always thought he was a better player than he was given credit for due to his previous off the field issues.

Given that he has been relatively trouble free of late it wouldnt shock me to see a bigger club take a punt on him as im guessing the fee involved wouldnt be all that large.
