Exactly. According to DM anyone who says Gervinho is great (which I don't believe anybody has yet) after watching him for 30 minutes is an idiot, but its perfectly fine for DM to basically write him off after those 30 minutes.

DM != Arsenal fan

His runs for the two goals were very good though. The second goal especially as someone attacking the 6 yard box is something we lack.

It's very early but you can't argue with 2 goals in 30mins.

Judging Gervinho after one friendly? Well played DM, that's jumping the gun, even for you.

Give how you continue to win things every season, despite how little you rate some of your players, surely they're over achievers? ;)

Some of them are, just think how good the team would be if it had two quality midfield players in their as well.

I think he has gone into this summer thinking he could convince Scholes to stay on, and if he chanced his arm and got someone in fine, if not, he could manage for another year.

Seeing as most big moves are set up or in the planning stages even before the season ends, I think its blown his plan out of the water for this summer.
The two players we were heavily linked with were just that, he has had a shot, they have not come off, and now we have no Scholes either.
Its a bit of a joke to think we are going to be relying on an ageing winger to be our main driving force in midfield next season because we have been left so short of options.

Is Macheda going to a top striker for United next season then?

Some of what DM posts makes sense, he just doesnt get it across well.

6 seasons of Wenger trying to hammer strikers into wingers suggests that if this guy shows 0 wide playing skills then he is going to be riding the bench come the end of september.

I put him on ignore ages ago aswell, but because I'm an idiot keep reading his posts. And then I rage :(

DM often makes good points but he does type a lot and sometimes waffles on about certain things.

He makes much more bad points than he does good. It just gets very annoying that it is seemingly Wenger's fault for the worlds problems, and more.

Indeed DM does make good points, but....

His posts are on average what, 3 paragraphs? He makes a LOT of points (even if most of them are repeated) so amongst all the **** he's going to hit on a few good ones by sheer chance.

You got me excited then

LOL at his comment that United have always had good keepers as well, he played in the same team with 3 of the worst in the clubs history!

The Aquilani/Fiorentina loan rumours are still doing the rounds. While at first glance loaning him out again makes little sense, due to various factors we may not have much choice and it could be complicated by FFP factors.

It appears as if he's made it clear he wants to go back to Italy and as Dalglish showed with Torres in January, he doesn't want anybody at the club that doesn't want to be there. With FFP it's fairly important that we sell him at a profit (profit on his book value rather than what we paid), which would mean selling him for more than ~£10m. Unfortunately there's only a few clubs in Italy that are in a position to pay that sort of fee, plus his ~£80k per week wages.

By loaning him out for a season, we're not paying his wages and come next summer he'll only be 'worth' £6-7m. Therefore a sale for anything over £6-7m would result in a profit. So even if we could sell him for ~£10m this summer, it might be beneficial to the club to loan him out for a season and then sell him for a similar/slighty greater figure next summer (which unless he has a major injury, it will still be cheap for him). An ideal scenario for us would be a loan with obligation to purchace at the end of the season rather than just an option.

Wow looks like DMs happy pills have warn off.

I wish these Nasri/fab transfers would just be done and over so I know who we are starting with. If Nasri rumours are true then I hope they get rid of him as soon as possible and we get as much as possible for him. Or let him rot in the reserves on their bench.

Still I am happy with our squad. Could be a lot better but just looking forward to starting the season with players that want to play for the club

I don't think he has spent 6 seasons trying to do that at all. The Chamakh situation is odd but that purchase was a combination of the Bendtner effect and RvP's continual injury problems.

Also when I've watched Arsenal, neither Bendtner nor Chamakh have been playing as out and out wingers. There is nothing to stop them moving into the box, especially given how attacking minded the fullbacks are. More often than not its Sagna or Gibbs/Clichy throwing crosses into the box.

Fortunately Gervinho played on both sides as well as down the centre for Lille so when RvP is playing its not a problem.

It's a signing that Arsene is on a loser either way with some fans. The same people who were complaining about the form of Arshavin and Walcott and wanted them sold and replaced will be the same who complain about the Gervinho signing, regardless of how he performs.

And there we go, our dream summer signing is near enough gone. Villa agree fee of £9.5m for N'Zogbia.
