Serious question - has anyone ever seen Aguero have a great game? I think he's a good young player, but he's no Rooney, Tevez, Suarez etc yet.

Nah, Augero will be awesome for whoever he plays for. Robinho would have been better at city had he been playing with a decent team around him. That was at the start of cities spending and he simply came at the wrong time.

With the players city have now they are definitely going to challenge for the title next season...I'm a little worried that we (chelsea) haven't sorted out our lack of a playmaker and RW yet.

If city dont get 1st or 2nd Mancini will be out of a job. They will have a bloody good squad though.

Its a good squad on paper but the problems that were there last year are still there and by the nature of the club will always be there.

There is no pecking order in the squad.

A number of players must only be there purely for the cash

On the one hand they are under pressure because they know if they dont perform they will simply be replaced by the next £25m player however on the other hand the manager himself is under even more pressure.

Good and all as the squad seems to be i just dont see it winning the league anytime soon.

man city's biggest failure is buying players who aren't good enough for ridiculous prices and then putting them on even more ridiculous wages.

it makes them impossible to sell on and then they are left with them until their contract runs out or sending them out on loan is the best they can hope to achieve.

if they had someone who actually knew what he was doing in charge then maybe they wouldn't be in this situation, the biggest problem being they are trying to become the best club in the world within 1 year, it doesn't work like that, it will take at least 10 years, no matter how much money you have.

who is their best player? Tevez, who was already playing in the same city and only Man City at the time could afford him and offered him ridiculous wages so he went there. Now they are finding their best player impossible to shift on, if they can't sell their top asset what chance do they have with the likes of Bellamy, etc.

Balotelli is another, who in their right mind would sign him after all this? I think the only team capable of maybe putting him on the right track is AC Milan, that's because it's his team.

City now need to focus on consistency, their objective for the next 5 years should be placing in the top 4 and doing well in the champions league. Not trying to win either but competing consistently until their name is well known, then they can attract players for a reasonable price and wage. If they keep on spending insane amounts they are only going to attract insane players.

Who would you honestly say are the top 5 players at city?

Tevez, Silva, Toure, Kompany and Adebayor

Hart gets an honourable mention, Aguero would likely be in the top 5 if he does join.

If you look at their top 5, 2 of them don't even want to be there and can't be shifted. They really have became a laughing stock, they need someone who knows what they are doing at the club, clear out all the rubbish, or even compensate the players and get rid. Start building a team, not a circus act.

Could also be a question of whether City might be too much of a fair weather team, and on a cold wet Monday night in Sunderland (for example) their flair players just may not be upto it mentally

Top 4 still a must (and should be relatively easy)

Vucinic to spurs for 15. However his agent is trying to get utd involved. i hope not he has never really done much to impress me.

Anderson says everyone will fill schole's shoes, presumably with clay to stop him leaving. But he is correct, less midfielders will make more room and opportunity for ando to show just what he can d.

Made me LOL when I heard that Aguero was impressed with the package City were offering him, I wonder why :p

If Tevez does stay I have to admit City have got a quite tasty looking first XI

-----------------Hart----------------
Richards--Kompany--Savic--Clichy
---------------De Jong--------------
---------Toure---------Barry--------
Aguero-------------------------Silva
----------------Tevez----------------

Not totally convinced about their defence but then again it was the best in the league last season, just on paper Clichy and the unknown Savic doesn't look water tight, Richards is solid enough though and Kompany is brilliant. Barry still looks the odd one out :p

When he's rubbish this season it will be patently obvious :D

It's not opportunity he was lacking, it was ability. He needs to be a completely new player to have the impact needed this coming season. Maybe he will, but it's unlikely.

i dont think tevez as a lone striker is good enough, adebayor as a lone striker would be good though as below

---------Adebayor----------

Silva ----- Tevez ------ Aguero

------ Toure ----De Jong -----

Just one amendment. Silva will be playing more centrally, Balotelli will start every game he can because he's basically Mancini's son and despite the outbursts has played some outstanding games for us. Unclear on Savic but he's looked tidy in pre-season. I expect Lescott to command that position for the time being. The above is probably our most attacking first 11 though (With Yaya Toure playing as the attacking midfielder he has for pretty much the entire season :p)

For someone who was at Maine road for almost every game in the second division (and a good portion of the away days!), seeing a team sheet like that compared to what we had back then is truly outstanding.
