Barcelona have issued Arsenal with a take it or leave it ultimatum over the proposed transfer of Cesc Fabregas.
Speaking last night Club President Sandro Rosell said that either Arsenal accepted a realistic valuation of the player or the deal is off.
“We have been monitoring all of the English Fantasy Football competitions and none of them value Cesc over £25 million” said Rosell. “How can Arsene Wenger demand £40 million when he is only worth £10 million in the Daily Star and £7 million in The Sun?”
“Cesc was born in Barca shirt and there is not a waking moment that I don’t dream of him returning home but how can they justify such an excessive fee?”
“It’s not as if we’re just talking about the red tops, even the Sunday Times only value him at £14 million and they have some of the most respected journalists in the world, for this deal to happen Arsenal must reduce their asking price.”
Pep Guardiola supported his President’s stance and said that he would consider paying a compromise figure of £30 million but only if they recieved a window midway through the season where they could swap him due to injury or a drop in form.
“Any Fantasy Football League player will tell you it is risky when you spend huge sums on one player, we have to balance what we need for other areas of the squad but if Arsenal allowed us to come back around Christmas and swap him for Nasri or maybe even Van Persie we could be in business” said the Barca Coach..
Arsene Wenger hit back by saying that Fantasy Football valuations are no way to measure the true worth of a player but that if any Club wanted to pay the £3 million price tag given to Nicolas Bendtner by the Daily Mail he would be willing to listen.
