They're both as bad as one another, neither would be where they are today without their sugar daddy owners FAHCT!

There is the possibility that he wasn't at chelsea when they did that so is speaking from a personal perspective rather than giving the official club line?

£15m+ is absolutely stupid money for a 29 year old Jagielka who hasn't hit the heights for a year or two, mental, we'd be breaking our transfer record for him. Thanks City :/

Yep I'd be more than happy to recieve that money for a 29 year old. We can then just buy some other player for 20p and turn him into a xx million player that someone wants.

Quite why other teams can't do that so quickly I don't understand ;)

To be fair, when you bought Jags, he was already premier league quality, so it's not like you had much to do.

Tell me about it.
One's stepped up to the plate and pretty much carried a team left low on confidence after their top striker was sold to Barca, and did a mighty fine job.

The other looked above average in a team nearly relegated.

.. not happy. Not happy at all.

It's absolutely ridiculous

I hope the Benzema to Arsenal rumours start to solidify. Very good player in my books. If not him then I expect another striker to come in as both Chamakh and Gervinho will be going to the ACON and Bender looks to be on his way to Lisbon. We are looking light up front with only Vela, RVP and Walcott.

Not looking too bad a summer for Arsenal in my books if it wraps up with:

Clichy, Fabregas, Eboue, Bender, JET, Lansbury all going for ~£45m and Mata, Benzema, Gervinho, Jenkinson and a CB all coming in. Net spend of around £35m I think and a really big improvement. Can only hope Almunia can be thrown away as well.

In regards to Fabregas it is looking like we will get around £25m for him plus Thiago Alcantara. Not bad considering the buyout clause Alcantara as around his neck.

Just noticed the rags have linked us with both Hazard brothers as well which would be interesting.

He cant be serious?

Chelsea could have easily bought Aguero. He must have forgot the 50m they spent on Torres last Jan.
They've twisted his quotes. Go back to the articles and the word "unfair" has been cut from all of them. All he said was that City have bought enough to win the title.

This whole Mata thing seems pretty bizarre. In this market he's the kind of player that should be attracting £25m+ bids from most top clubs, maybe even including Barca and Real. If Arsenal get him for less than £20m it's a fantastic bit of business, and a pretty big blunder by clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, City and even United (he'd have been a much wiser buy than Young), who all have more money than Arsenal and all of whom could be improved by the Spaniard (especially Chelsea and Liverpool).

Even more ridiculous is the Pastore saga. Zamparini is outdoing himself this summer with his crazy comments and behaviour. Everywhere last night was reporting he's on the verge of joining PSG and Zamparini came out and said he's definitely joining Chelsea. Don't be surprised if tomorrow that, instead of the deal being confirmed (as Zamp seems to keep saying it will be every day), there are even more clubs in for Pastore that have apparently bid £40m+ (something I imagine not even Chelsea and PSG have done). The guy is entertaining but he doesn't half ********.

We'll only have RVP, Theo and Vela during the ACON, only three strikers, for one position...... how will we live, and without the Acom we have RVP, Theo, VEla, Chamakh, Gervinho, or 5 strikers for one position, so you think its a great idea to bring in another 25mil player, on 7mil+ a season......... to give us a 4th striker to help cover in ONE month every two years.

Some people are so beyond deluded its laughable. We have a rubbish first team left and right back, no proper DM, no backup for DM, no real right winger...... so our priority should be to bring in the clubs 6th striker.

We're highly unlikely to get Thiago as part exchange for Fabregas, he's been the star of their preseason, making Iniesta look like a bit part player he's been so ridiculously good.

Mata could be awesome for us, please happen! The deal seems absurdly cheap, but I'm sure Arsene won't moan about that.

Cahill > Jags > Samba imo

Has anyone actually watched Cahill play? There's a lot of hype about him from the media but my friend, who is a season ticket holder at Bolton, says he isn't the player everyone harps on about and isn't worth the 15m touted around.

Does anyone watch Bolton? :p

Everyone tries not to, seems to work for Bolton in terms of transfers though :p

Cahill isn't particularly great, Samba and Jags are both really solid defenders. I'm not sure 15mil is a fair price but then again, if it stops Wenger going out and buying yet another completely rubbish CB for 8-9mil Cahill or Jags would represent very good value.

Honestly, I'd buy Jags, and Samba and at worst loan out Squillaci and Djourou, at best sell both. Kos/Djourou, I can't tell which is worse, the difference is Djourou looked completely rubbish when he stepped up in previous seasons with a better defence AND his injury record is a joke, he's not fit, and not good even with a good defence around him. Kos came to the club and played in a crap defence we've yet to see him in a season with Verm/Jags quality alongside him, maybe he'll improve, maybe not.

Saying that, we need a left back as much as another CB, but if Vermaelen or whoever we bring in get injured, we'll have an idiot playing alongside one of them. CB is a partnership, if one guy is epic and one guy is woeful, the partnership will suck balls.

Well clearly then he was heavily in demand when we bought him, or not. Same with Lescock and Baines. Hell Baines was so crap we played Lescott at left back instead of him. 2 years later and people are sniffing round baines.

Add another 18 million and they can have him as well. :D

Spanish TV of some description allegedly claiming that Spurs have placed a bid for Mata, and it's the only official bid so far.

EDIT: Valencia deny it.

To be honest, I don't think Jags or Baines are players I would want to see us have to sell to buy. Only Jags if Moyes actually plays Heitinga regularly and where he's supposed to play! I would prefer Rodwell or Fellaini go.
