I hope not because he is what 29 and as much as he is a good player we dont really need him. A swap deal with Sneijder would be better :D
 
Looks like Gerrard's going to miss the first 3 games of the season. The club have confirmed he needs treatment on an infection related to his groin injury and won't be ready to play until September.

Glad I have Adam in my fantasy team now, thought we might see a limited season from Gerrard, I think Adam could fill the hole very well though.

Predicting that Gerrard won't stay fit for the entire season is a fairly easy prediction to make. For the last 9 years he's had spells out of the side because of this groin problem. I suspect that's the reason the club want to finally put this problem to bed and why they're taking every precaution with him.

I know its an easy prediction but my friend said i would be wrong and due to him resting he would be fine and i disagreed.
 
Keeping everything crossed that old Shreevesy can get an interview with Sneijder on Sky later today after Inter's game with Celtic. Hopefully to put the rumours to bed one way or another..... wouldn't surprise me if Sneijder doesn't feature though :/
 
Oh yeah another thing Pastore has joined PSG for 35m apparently :eek:

Cant believe for one second that Chelsea were in for him if he does go to PSG
 
Zamparini has been talking so much **** the past few weeks I wouldn't believe a word he says until either club announces it or the player himself says so.

Then there's Champions League football also. I'd image Chelsea would have been able to match (possibly top) any wages as well

Exciting, sure, seems a solid finisher, definately, but he likes to play from deep and defences here won't be anything like that. I do want to see him in Europe, see how good he really is, but honestly I can't remotely predict what he'd do over here, fantastic, or complete failure. I think Brentford can defend better than those two teams.

EDIT:- Watched the rest, screw Brentford, partner me, Squillaci, Grimandi and Rigobert Song and we'd be a better defence than either of those teams. THough, I couldn't tell who took that god awful penalty, Neymar won it with a bit of a dive, it was barely shoulder to shoulder but not sure he took it. His goal after that though was very very well taken and showed good strength to stay up from a proper shoulder barge.

yeah i was going to say the defenders are awful, but tbh, they are probably a lot better than they look.

remember this is ronaldhino (former best player in the world and still has all of his touch, passing and skills, proven by many youtube videos of him completely ridiculing players in training) and neymar (the most promising young brazilian since Pato).

i doubt you would even stand a chance up against ronaldhino never mind neymar, both players are world class. there is a reason why neymar is rated to be 40 million euro's at 19.

Watching the Chelsea Vs Villa game.

We have been awful first half(villa) however very impressed with chelsea, fluid machine like football retaining position using every position effectively, looks a bit like the Mourinho Era but with better football........................
 
Gill has stated (again) that any theoretical deal for Nasri and Sneijder is now completely dead

Well its actually football related (and transfer related if true) unlike some PAGES on this thread & also with his last club issueing a statement (whether inaccurate or not) its worthy of discussion

I have no problem with you posting your opinion - but it is only your opinion, others opinion are just as valid

This is also a good thread to post snippets of news (like Gerrard's fitness) that probably dont warrant a seperate thread

Im posting an accurate reflection of what he actually said (in this case)

Nothing to do with "sensationalised" at all

If I had posted something along the lines of "£85m record breaking deal for Aguero" then you might have a point, but I stayed well away from that due to it being imo inaccurate (as it includes wages for 4/5 years)

Yes he did indeed say that - but that implies someone else rather than one of the players I mentioned.

I never stated Utd wouldnt sign another player (: (I will be hoping up until around 8am on the 1st of September that Utd sign some kind of "flair" CM, even if its a youthful prospect rather than the finished article)

why do people keep on going on about chelsea having an ageing squad?

they have brought in a lot of young players:

Ramires, Luiz, Torres

got rid of

Ballack, Deco, etc.


Cech is 29 (nothing for a goalkeeper)
Ivanovic is 27 (hitting his peak years)
Cole is 30 (has 2/3 years more at the top)
Luiz is 24
Ramires is 24
Essien is 28 (hitting his peak years)
Lampard is 33 (ageing)
Torres is 27 (hitting his peak years)
Drogba is 33 (ageing)
Mikel is 24
Malouda is 31 (has 1/2 years left at the top)
Bosingwa is 28 (hitting his peak years)
Zhirkov is 27
Kalou is 25
Sturridge is 21
Terry is 30 (still has 3/4 years left at the top)
Alex is 29 (hitting his peak years)
Anelka is 32 (ageing)


saying they have an ageing squad is a load of ****. if they have an ageing squad then what were man utd last year? van der sar, neville, giggs, scholes and ferdinand. they must have been dead.
