Well i dont understand the thinking behind giving one of your best players a free transfer. If he wants rid of him he could have stuck him up at a couple of million and there would still be a number of takers.

If that best player is Joey Barton, then I doubt there are many people out there willing to pay for him to mess up their dressing room.

The number of clubs at a higher or equal level than Newcastle that are currently interested in him (and were reportedly interested prior to yesterday) suggestes otherwise. If he was universally still perceived as being a nightmare to deal with then clubs wouldnt want to take a chance, free or not.

Maybe, but that is from his agent rather than any clubs. I would wager that an agent is unlikely to say that a player costing nothing has still got no one interested.

I really felt for him being left out of the champions league final. Im sure that I read somewhere that he sat inside during the final crying because he felt so embarrassed to be left out of the squad. He has never had a bad word to say about united and has been a professional throughout.

.

Well to be fair by that match it had only been 2 and a half years since he had scored in a European tie so I wouldnt feel too sorry for him.

I know there was a reason for his omission but that doesn't mean that I don't feel for the guy. He had scored a lot of goals last season and it would have been nice to see him on the bench and maybe give him 10 minutes at the end once we certain of losing.

still can't believe the cockup arsenal have made with mata, if they've lost out on getting him "cheap".

mate who's an arsenal fan is gutted the way things are going at the mo and he's not looking forward to the season at all :(.

IF there was indeed a buy out clause that went off on the 1st of August, Arsenal shouldn't have known about it, however 14mil seems low and they could have put their first bid in months ago. We're always last minute, not that it matters, we needed to see a change in preseason, we didn't get it, same problems, new personel and the same players, meh.

But I'm not a big fan of bringing in people on August the 31st, earlier the better, especially if its a "cesc replacement" and Wenger intends to play him as essentially our playmaker than the longer he can play before the season starts the better.

If theres any truth to the 22mil take it or leave it bid for Nasri from City, we should bite their hand off. Either he's gotten even more pointless than the end of last season, or he's completely given up caring and putting in any effort, either way he should be gone.

Bigbeard, my Hammer's friend seems to think that a bunch of fans were unhappy but saw themselves coming back up but Fat Sam's appointment has them angry and really peed off and I can see why. West Ham, debt, not going well, spent the last 3-4 years dealing with the last idiot to give Dyer/Freddie/several others huge contracts that drained the club and now they are doling out 55k a week 5 year contracts when their income has been massively reduced for the coming season, West Ham couldn't be making worse choices right now.

Who says they were interested in him in the first place, to me it seems the supposed interest was probably just agent driven to get his client a move before he was priced out of one, I doubt Arsenal were interested whatsoever

Funny really, isn't it. Guillem "Bull****" Balague makes up one bit of nonsense about Mata, and suddenly it's gospel truth.

How do I get myself that kind of job?

Who says I haven't? Who says I'm not ALL the ITKs you think you trust? Eh? Eh?

But Balague gets paid for his work. That's got to be a crime somewhere.

Mata's Dad yesterday:

“Valencia simply rejected their offer. After some hesitation they answered ‘no’ to the Gunners’ offer.

“So my son remains a Valencia player, for now. But I don’t think it’s their last offer.

“There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again. The situation is still evolving.”
