Mirror and the Mail have said that Enrique's been told he can leave Newcastle for £8m, which Liverpool have met, because of his twitter ranting

Which probably means we'l still be after him come deadline day ;)

If fergies plan was to buy a load of wingers and give them the team of smallest forwards of any premiership team to aim at, well by jove, he's done it!

Asked if berba to Psg fergie said. 'yes he might. that's possible'

I guess it makes sense if you think your team is big and ugly enough to play without throwing Chris smelling up front in an emergency. or if you fancy that your wingers are as incapable of crossing the ball as say, park, obertan, valencia are.

You do of course realise that if you've got such a problem with people arguing with you for 3 or 4 pages you could just stop posting so much utter ****

That makes a lot of sense. I think its inevitable that if another player comes in on a sizeable fee then someone fairly big will leave. We have too many players up front as it is and if an offer came in Berbs is the most likely to go as I see it. A shame because i really like him as a player and im sure he would rather stay. However Hernandez and Rooney are obviously going nowhere, Welbeck isnt going on loan again, Diouf and Macheda arent really in the first team picture and Owen looks like a useful squad man so theres really only one person left.

I think a front four of Hernandez, Rooney, Owen and Welbeck, supplimented by the likes of Young and (in an emergency) Macheda, has quite a good balance and pecking order to it. Thats without mentioning the arrivial of any Dutch attacking midfielders!!

Unless its Nani thats going insitead............

(I mean Utd have nearly as many wide players as strikers - and if Berba is worth £18m, Nani must be worth £25m+ you would have thought.....although Im not sure when his present deal runs out)

Admittedly we wouldnt have any height upfront if Berba left

Enrique would be a decent buy for most teams for that kind of outlay

TRM you are ever the pessimist sir.

Statistically speaking, sir, how many premiership teams have a strikeforce shorter than man utd? If you come up with a bs answer ill be forced to go stat hunting. the other united don't count for this exercise either as they were forced to sell their big man for financial stability.
Lets not talk about optimism or pessimism but lets deal in the fachts.

I didn't say tell me what is the height of our strikers who won't be playing, wellbeck, diouff and berba to be sold? I said find me an opponent with smaller strikers.

you'll find most teams have a big man option somewhere. be that chamakh attack or bendtner or crouch. or drogba. or Carroll. or dzeko.

ours is berbatov. and smiling, fergie said we might bin him to paris. now my question is, given the expenditure on wingers and the fact that we threw defenders up front for height last season, how can you reconcile that as being anywhere near ideal?

What's height got to do with it? You seem to be implying that wingers are pointless with short strikers. Have you forgotten how many goals Cole and Yorke both scored with their heads when you had Bekcham in the team? Imagine if you had two wingers capable of providing that quality of ball. Were either 6ft? **** no! :)

No i quoted the interview from goal.com so it could be out of context, however, rumours have been rife re berba leaving for some time.

1. don't listen to rumours
2. The interview sounded like Fergie did not understand what she was saying, as she was French.
3. I doubt Welbeck will be leaving, Diouf probably if only on loan.
